: Byron Allen, the host of talk shows Entertainers With Byron Allen and Comics Unleashed, married producer Jennifer Lucas on Saturday in Los Angeles, MediaTakeOut.com has learned
Allen, 46, who also hosted TV's Real People in the early 1980s, and Lucas, a producer of Comics Unleashed, were married in front of 120 friends and family, including Natalie Cole and Eddie Murphy, on a lawn at the Bel Air Hotel.
"I couldn't wait to see her walk down the aisle," says Allen of his wife, who wore a wedding gown by Carolina Herrera.
Says Lucas, "It was an intimate and meaningful ceremony to mark the beginning of the rest of our lives."
A reception followed at the hotel's ballroom, where wedding planner Mindy Weiss had created a red-themed reception with thousands of red roses.
The dessert was a five-tiered cake with two flavors – vanilla cake with dark chocolate filling and dark chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling – by Cake Divas.
The couple met in April 2001 and were engaged in December 2006 in Maui.
"He's my best friend," says Lucas. "He makes me laugh and he's the smartest man I've ever met. We can't wait to have a family."
Adds Allen: "She's magnificent and I'm very lucky."

Why is everyone dissing Byron!? Just because a black comedian doesn't fill his comedy with disparaging remarks about people doesn't mean he's corny. It's 2007...people are allowed to date and marry whomever they like! Yes, that includes a person of another race! And as a black woman, I know first hand account about how bitter some of us can be. Just because he's with a white chick, ya'll want to sit up here and diss him and his wife. Call me crazy, but ANY man with a JOB, making money, own a house and car(s), can take care of his business, respectful to me, etc. is a good man to me.
It would be nice if a sucessful black man would marry a black woman. And it has nothing to do with being bitter; most black woman want to find man to settle down, marry, have kids and have a good life. I don't know why so mamy black men and, increasinly, black women find this concept so hard to understand. I think some blacks in this country either just suffer from a kind of self hatred found in no other race of people or have the "crabs in the barrel mentality".

Byron is being dissed because people are frustrated with how evident it is that he and so many other AA people have no connection to their race, culture or the legacy that we as a people have left in this country and abroad. This is why he's called an oreo. We, of course, don't know him personally. However, I'm sure we can make some strong assumptions by observing his behavior. It's not because he uses proper english or doesn't refer to other AA people ass Ni@@ers. That's ignorant. One obervation: By the way he speaks one can tell that he is trying to assimilate. As someone that speaks proper english, there is a way to speak properly without sounding white and completely throwing your race/culture/identity out of the window. His octave, pattern and tone clear mimics a white man, not his dialect. Many oreos use this tactic among others to carry out their self hate and distance themselves from thier own people...but i won't go into all of that on here. We shouldn't be too hard on him though. It's hard to maintain good self image as a black man in the US. He is probably given 100's of reasons throughout a day telling him why he should distance himself from his culture. We need more understanding as a whole.

This is one man out of millions. Only a small percentage of successful Black men marry outside of their race;studies have shown. Because Byron Allen and other public figures are in the media it seems like alot more. Besides their are many successful people who are unknown to the masses. This Black female whining about Black men and white women is getting annoying. Black men love Black women in general and we can't lose our minds if a few date or marry white women. So what. I look at it from the point of view that white women know what's really good. Does anyone know Byron Allen's background? If he grew up around mostly White people, it's very likely that he would be attracted to White women and he would "talk White," if that was his environment. Not every Black person grows up in the hood, so we can't expect every Black person to talk like it. Maybe his parents stressed that he NOT "talk Black." All I'm saying is to not assume you know where he's coming from and, therefore, don't assume he's trying to assimilate. This could be what comes natural for him.

"Talk black" of course is a reference to the slang that most black people use, better known as "ebonics". Someone said Byron was trying to assimilate, but we've already been assimilated when we were brought into slavery. Using slang is a direct link to slavery. Because we were not allowed an education, slaves tried to mimic the sounds from the owners. Unfortunately in most cases it sounded different, hence "broken-English". It has been passed on from generation to generation. So using slang or the way someone acts does not define that person. Byron was born black period. And no he doesn't owe the black community anything (if that's what he chooses not to do). He only owes himself a happy life, with whomever he chooses to share it with. People only see what Byron does on t.v. but he has, in fact, always worked with charities that helps kids, especially black children. Besides that, we can't just expect celebrities to help our race, that starts with people in and of the community. The average 9 to 5 person has to take on their share in order for black people to succeed. So don't condemn someone without asking yourself if you are doing something for the black community other than taken up space. You know it's 2007 and the black dropout rate (high school) is at 50%, while whites are at 75%, education is and always will be key. We in the the black community need to start stressing that so that our kids are not lost. Kids know all about these rappers, most of whom sold drugs at one time, and they see the videos with, money, women, and fast cars. The lose sight of reality. They don't see the banker, stock broker, teacher, lawyer and all the other black role models out there. Parents give these kids more examples of successful black people other than the bad examples that the see in these videos. Then maybe change can begin. Black power starts with the mind!!

I admit, it does hurt to see our men with someone other than a Black woman. It took me a long time to deal with my feelings about that, and it still bugs me now and then. But rather than getting angry, making negative comments, engaging in self-hating rhetoric (e.g., Antidumb) - and thereby, giving credence to the idea that we're all bitter and have massive chips on our shoulders - why don't we focus more on trying to rebuild positive relationships with our men instead? We need to stop getting angry about the status of relationships between Black Men and Women and actually DO something about it. On “speaking black” - there isn’t an explicit color in question when it comes to a specific language. For example, because you are black, there isn’t a language called “Black English.” There is such thing as culture and language, such as Italians speak Italian and French speak French. Even in Africa you have many languages none of which is based on a persons color. How ignorant is it to state that a person is not black enough because he/she does not speak "black" - What is the definition of speaking "black" - if you notice “DCallthetime” was unable to simply endow us with a description, how they were able to provide characterizations of black people that we all may and/or may not identify with. The lesson for today is the just the mere color black does not characterize an ethnicity of the population. Regrettably, in America, the color black defines your race as we are divided by color. You take a history lesson; there is no culture that is superior to another culture, because every civilization and/or culture has been conquered and recounquered. There is no true culture, a culture is defined by is length in existence. About slavery, I am SOOO fed up with black people using the slavery excuse… The Dutch were the people who started the slave trade. To assist you further with knowledge, white people did not steal us from Africa; we were sold and traded into slavery by African Kings and tribal leaders. The tribes fought and the conquered were considered weak. Did you know on the slave ships, the Africans didn’t speak the same language?
We put ourselves into Slavery. Who built the pyramids in Egypt? Slaves… Slavery began before Christ. What do you think Moses and his people were? So take this note because you did not learn this is school, other nations have adapted to having slaves. The world has. What are you fighting for? Who are you fighting? What equality? Our fight isn’t about people accepting out “blackness” is about accepting us as American because it’s my birth right. If you fight and are still so mad about slavery, do some research and go back to Africa and figure out which African King and/or Tribal leader sold and/or traded your family into slavery. I'm a black dude and I've never had a desire to DATE outside my race(but I've fucc'ed outside my race before. I have this female friend that date white men exclusively. I used to have a problem when she eliminated the brothas but just talking with her and listening to her I came to the conclusion: SHE HAS DONE BLACK MEN A FAVOR BY NOT DATING THEM. See, black men couldn't meet her expectations and we black men wouldn't think she was even worthy. We'd shyyt on her just like she expected we would've done.
