: NEW YORK (AP) — Foxy Brown was sentenced Friday to one year in jail for violating probation that stemmed from a fight with two manicurists in a New York City nail salon three years ago. "I'm not going to give you any more chances," Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson told the 28-year-old rapper. "I hope you turn your life around and never again have to stand in a court of law."
Probation Department officials asked for the hearing after Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was arrested Aug. 14 in Brooklyn on charges of assaulting Arlene Raymond, 25.
Brown was accused of hitting the woman with a cell phone on July 30 when the pair fought over the music volume from Brown's car stereo.
Just before the hearing began, Brown, her hands shackled to a scuffed brown belt that settled on the hips of her elegant gray pantsuit, asked the judge for yet another chance at freedom and promised to straighten out her life. Jackson had jailed her Aug. 22 to await the hearing.
"I'm willing to do whatever I need to do to change," Brown told the judge. She said she had made a lot of mistakes. "I realize that's not where I want to be. It's humbled me in ways I never imagined."
The judge replied, "Ms. Marchand, it's too little, too late. I'm glad you're learning something; that's a positive."
The judge found Brown had left the state without permission; had moved her residence from Brooklyn to Mahwah, N.J., without permission; had failed to notify the department of an arrest in Mahwah; had failed to report to probation officers, and had dropped court-ordered anger management sessions with a psychologist.
Probation officials said Brown, in Florida without permission on Feb. 15, was arrested for allegedly throwing hair glue at a beauty shop employee when he asked her to leave because the shop was closing.
Brown later struggled with an officer who was called to the shop, and she was charged with battery and resisting an officer with violence, police said. Brown was released after posting a $1,500 bond. That case is pending.
Brown was on probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault of two manicurists at a Manhattan nail salon in August 2004 in a fight over how much she owed.
The one-year sentence means Brown, with time off for good behavior for her detention that began last month, will be eligible for parole in eight months.
At the start of the hearing, Probation Department lawyer Matilda Leo told the judge that Brown had been indicted Friday in Brooklyn on charges of assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon — the cell phone_ in the alleged assault on Raymond.
Last month, in a court appearance before Jackson after the arrest related to Raymond, defense lawyers told the judge the rapper was three months pregnant. No mention was made Friday by anyone about Brown expecting a baby.
I can't honestly say that I feel sorry for her cuz the bytch is psycho for real, but I do feel sorry for her compared to Paris and Nicole's trashy asses. It's sad to be givig birth to your first child in prison. Foxy has issues, but I wouldn't wish such a situation on anyone. The judge did the right thing, I agree fully with the sentence. First of all PROBATION WAS HER SECOND CHANCE! She could have gone to prison in the first place, but she was givent he chance on probation to remain in the community and get her life together. I never once stated that I agreed with her sentence, but look how quick these two were to jump on me as if I handed it down to her. It makes me question their sincerity, and whether or not its just for show.
I still have love for my brothers tho..as long as I can see past the name calling, and see that they really want something positive for us, and just may not know how to communicate that efficiently, I'm good :)
She was given plenty of opportunities but because she's a sociopath(she exibits all the qualities of a sociopath)and harbors a lack of authority and a lack of self governing as far as keeping her emotions and hands to herself,she's abusing perscription drugs(the reason she went deaf is because of the oxy she was taking, too much of oxy promotes hearing lose) my only rational in reguards to her sentencing is that when she was evaluated the first time they conclueded that she'd be in trouble once again and incarciration would be the only just means of her receiving the psycological help that needs. After all she did stop going to her anger management, and there is no cure or rehabilition from sociopathism,the only thing that would be done is on behalf of Foxy(Inga) and that's her conforming to her surroundings for a year and so that she will only serve 8 months, but I really and truely see her saying or doing some slick s/h/i/t to one of the CO's and they add more time. What she need's positive reinforcement, faith and GOD, that's it....
MrsMeToo, yes I agree. Her sentence was a bit harsh, but we don't know all of the particulars of the case or the findings the judge made to impose the sentence. Nowadays, it is so common to find a liberal judge. Foxy just "lucked" into the wrong judge.
