I am black and I can honestly, say that some of the MOST racist people I know ARE ALSO BLACK PEOPLE. I can't tell you how many black attractive educated women have nasty comments about non black women who are dating black men. Okay, do we own black men, NO so who are we to tell them whom they should date. I noticed white women act the same way towards black women who are dating white men. Also, black men and women are too eager to call white women all hoes. I know some really nice decent white people ones who marched with Martin Luther King for equal rights, stop calling all white people racist, and nasty words. I have to dissagree with you here... As a Professional African-American woman in the corporate environment, I must say... When I have interviewed for my positions, I've gone in very self-confident, assured and amazing! Why? Because I know that I bring incredible technical skills to the table - As well, I genuinely care about people and seek to relate to others on a human level. I have to say, the argument about black women being passive and only being a sperm recepticle in the workplace is a fallacy.
Example: After only 2 weeks of working at my new job, I overheard 2 older white co-workers (men) discussing the Isaiah Thomas trials and one quoted from the news, "If you are a black boss you can call a black woman a "b", but if you are a white boss, that's different." (mind you, I was sitting just outside of the office, they both knew that I was there - and the door was wide open) The other guy proceeds in stating that he "believes that the word "B!tch" was created by blacks and it is a primary component of their vernacular". I knew that I had to handle this situation - and since I have dealt with ignorance before, I kindly approached him, privately and not only explained his erroneous fact patterns, but educated him on the fact that the etymoligy of the word. After which time, I can say that I have gained a lot of respect around this office. I see where my boss now goes out of his way to make sure that I am highly respected. It's not a color thing...It's a personal dignity & character thing...

A real woman gives away her love unconditionally something I was taught to do. I never think only about myself in situations for example my ex from Philly had glaucoma in both eyes.
I could of turned away and said, "Oh Hell Naw" I don't want that in my life". What I did was take him to the eye doctor for regular eye treatments, I cooked for him, I drove him to whatever destination he needed to go. I dont think its African American women per se, its the western world and its culture. In ancient Egypt both men and women took on lovers and remain married. Or break up for a brief period of time to remarry. In most latin countries the men have lovers and the wives look the other way, my grandmother told me my grandfather carried on affairs but he took care of home and the kids. As a black female I understand the hostility felt when a black man is seen with a women of another ethnicity. However, even though my initial reaction may be disappointment I remain fair. People are people. Brothers who wonder why it even matter; let me explain. 1. It make sisters feel that we aren't attractive and appreciated. Look at the videos out their. Furthermore, black women are very unique in appearance and have the most difficult time conforming to American standard of beauty; (2nd the asian women.) It important for us to have our men think of us as beautiful 2. There is difference between how black men feel about their women oppose to how other ethnic group relate to their women. Men of different background seem to cherish their women. Now a few of them may wander away from their own; however, not as often as the black male. 3. It seem as though black men look at women of other ethnic group as a trophy. Man may look at a biracial women and think exotic. Then he look at a sistah and think fine. Exotic has more appeal then just fine. Lastly I most add that black women (maybe some b. male) are the one quick to point out what they are mix with. As if being black is to boring. I know because I use to rush to tell people about my biracial grandmother. However, I realize that she play an important in my genetic make up; however, people will identify me as black. Unfortunately, black is not exotic enough in some eyes. My solution to this problem is for us (b. women) to take care of ourselve. We are part of lost tribe. We must combine our past identity w/ our new one. If you look good ya feel good.
