: When Mary pushed the release date for her new album Growing Pains from November 20th to November 27th, she expected to be the only R&B artist debuting a new album that week. But a few days after Mary's decision, Beyonce announced she'd be releasing a live album and a dvd on that same very same date.
And the threat of going up against Beyonce was too much for Mary and her label. As of this morning, Mary J Blige has officially pushed back her album release two weeks - from November 27th to December 11th.
According to an insider over at Mary's label, everyone there is furious. MediaTakeOut.com exclusively learned that pushing forward Mary's release date is costing Geffen Records million of dollars. A Geffen exec told us, "[Beyonce's management] put her release against Mary's just so they could get the added publicity - but we're not playing into their game ... Best of luck to [Beyonce]."

well I grew up with Mary music when she first came out and she could not to save her own life sing in person. I've been to several concerts back in the early 90's and people walked out on her performing. The studio can only do so much to make you sound good when it comes to selling albums, but if you can't perform in person then people will see as they can't sing. As the years went and came she has gotten better. I've heard Mary perform a couple times on TV live and she should have sat down because it still to me sound bad. Beyonce can sing with or without the studio. I've heard that sister in concert also and it is *** and day between her and Mary. And her concerts was pack out to the max. Beyonce performs better than Mary any day. If they have a contest I believe Beyonce would win. I've never heard Beyonce crack when performing but Mary oh my God is all I have to say. It's like who told her she can sing at times,some of her performes was good. Yes Mary been in the game the longest and you do have people who like Mary and people who like Beyonce. I would buy Mary album because studio helps her out a lot but I wouldn't want to see her in concert. Beyonce I'll buy her album and go see her in concert.

Mary has nothing to worry about. Beyonce should take a lesson from 50; overexposure is not always a good thing. She has hit her peak. Don't hate let her continue to release albums and give bad acting performance she will sell less and less as people grow tired of seeing her. The second solo album did not do as well as her first because she is releasing albums back to back and to fast. The second album was decent wasn't her best work but it seemed rushed because she was blocking the other KICKED OUT DC members shine. All stars burn out... and I like her music but I am tired of hearing her voice. Beyonce came up at the expense of J-Los & B-spears overexposure..so now it is time for someone new because whatever powers that are just shoving her down our throats. They don't even give us the opportunity to miss her. So I just turn her off when she comes on the radio and I have retired her albums from the ipod. Shes played out and not that interesting of an artist anymore. Keisha Coles album is good and shes been consistent so far. Mary J Blige never has been overexposed and she has been consistent. Marys publicity has been putting out good quality albums and not being in our face too much.

Puh-lease. When it comes between Mary J. and Beyonce we all know who takes the cake. Beyonce's music is in syle at the moment. Mary's music is timeless. You can listen to it years later and still say "This is my song." You can listen to Mary's music and say that she really out did herself. Only few artists have this gift and unfortunately Beyonce is NOT one of them. To be honest few artists these days have got that type of talent. However listening to a Destiny's Child CD I can get both and more and we all know who is singing for them.
So I feel like Beyonce is more Versatile and this next CD will be something different just like her last.
Just because Beyonce has a Perfect life doesnt mean she wont be able to Deliver those songs about love, hate, ***, depression, excitement, break ups, make ups, etc.

Please! Mary has old and new school folks listening to her music, while Beyonce's music is strictly for chicken heads and women with that, "I'll just use my booty to get what I need" mentality. My girl Beyonce has a little bit of everything in her music..When I get all extra fly, and hit the streets, I'll bump some ''get me bodied'' straight up, because I get the concept of the song.. However due to my age and maturity the music I listen to is 80% R&B. Al Green, Marvin G, Frankie B. and Maze.. Now that's ''real to the soul'' music... They both have great music to offer, just like you have a younger audience you have an older and mature audience..
I don't even think they have the same fan base. I think Beyonce caucasion base holds her up and compares her to all of these legends. Not to say that maybe someday she won't be, but, right now she is not at legend status.
Everyone had pegged Mary to be over after her 1st album and then she came back stronger. And, that is because she was never afraid to try something new and different. The core her songs had a similar theme but the sound was totally different.
I think Beyonce has had a pretty easy life because her songs are not about anything. Maybe she has to go through some grown woman stuff before she can get deep. I would think dating a man that is like 15 years her senior she would have some deeper songs.
On her next album she will be a little older and people will expect something a little deeper from her. If she comes out with that same nonsense and shaking all over the stage people will probably get tired of her. No matter how loyal her team is around her.
