Why is the goal to necessarily solve it? I mean, it would be great if that was all it took to resolve a problem, but people go on shows like Oprah, for example, to talk about problems in their lives to educate the public, raise awareness, find community and support. That is how we learn. We tell our stories to share pain, sorrow, joy and inform others that they are not alone in their struggles or experiences.

Should a recovering alcoholic not put himself "on blast" because their lives are too shameful? I'll guess you've never read an article or seen a TV show about someone else's struggles and learned something from it.

@Kimkelmor, you said that the camera is in control of the camera but that is not completely accurate because all docu's are pre-edited by both the subject which is Mario and the producer and directer and at which point are decided what footage is aired and so forth- I don't know how old you are but there used to be a time not long ago when blackfolk's did not put their family business out in the streets because it was considered uncooth,uncivilized,savage etc. Times are changing but some traditions we need to hold onto and as for Keisha I do believe she does have more raw talent and more people would have viewed her spot based on that fact alone. My cousin is STRUNG out on crack. I mean this man just stole his friends brand new car and cell phone a few weeks ago (and we have yet to get it back). You know why that friend got so close to him?? BEcause he was unaware of his addiction. Sometimes the only thing u can do is to put them on blast. Pretending like the problem doesn't exist won't make it any better. That's sad. Why are people hatin'? That's a part of his reality, so it's part of his reality show. Did you feel the same way when they showed Keyshia Cole's mother or her drunken sister? How many of you watch College Hill or The Real World or Bad Girls? All of them have issues, drinking mostly. We see it on television in fictional shows. Tyler Perry's House of Payne, the medical show House's main character has a prescription drug problem. Get over yourselves. If you don't like it, then don't watch the show, dammit.

I applaud Mario for making the documentary. I had three family members that was addicted to drugs. All the lies, stealing, fighting, neglecting their children, feeling sorry for them and begging and pleading didn't help the situation.

It just took a toll on the rest of us, so we had no choice but to kick them to the curb. I'm happy to say that they finally got their lives back on track, but it really took "Tough Love" for them to do so.

Maybe Mario feels like he is supporting his mothers habit if he's taking care of her financially. No one wants to see a family member on drugs (let alone their mother) but sometimes, hitting rock bottom is what a person needs to turn their life around. I personally think he needs to kick his mother to the curb.

I know that sounds harsh, but maybe it'll help her overcome her addiction. It's said when the child has to assume the parental role and try to teach their parents what's right and wrong.

Secondly , just because a person is on drugs does't make them a bad person. There are evil people on every corner and they are not always crackheads, just open ANY paper. While some people get hooked on drugs by "experimenting" because they have nothing better to do, others have tried it because they're trying to escape situations they have found themselves in ie.. abuse(sexual,mental,physical) pain(from accident or injury), mental health issues, etc.. I don't see what the problem is, what Mario is doing in his documentary is the same thing those people are doing on intervention.
