: (AP) The south Georgia home of televangelist Juanita Bynum will be auctioned off next month unless she pays nearly $39,000 in back taxes, interests and penalties.
Ware County Tax Commissioner Steve Barnard told The Florida Times Union that the home which is owned by Juanita Bynum Ministries Incorporated has been advertised among the homes that will be up for sale at the county courthouse on November 6th.
Asked why the house is set to be auctioned, Barnard said "Because she hasn't paid the 2006 taxes on it."
Barnard says the property tax bill on the house is $32,007 and 56 cents and Bynum must also pay more than $6,944 in interest, penalties and costs.
Barnard said he was contacted by someone from Bynum's Waycross office and asked how to resolve the matter. The caller agreed to pay $25,000 on the tax bill and the remainder before the tax sale. Barnard said "but so far we've gotten only $5,000."
According to tax records, the 6,748-square-foot house sits on more than 23 acres. Because Bynum does not live there, the house does not qualify for homestead exemption. Her Waycross-based ministry bought the house August 18th, 2006.
Bynum made headlines in August when she accused her husband, Thomas W. Weeks the Third, of beating her in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel. She has since filed for divorce from Weeks, who is known to his followers as Bishop Weeks.
Weeks has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats. He is free on $40,000 bond and is not allowed to have contact with Bynum.
Forty-eight-year-old Bynum is head of a ministry that also includes a gospel record label and seminar tours. She has sold thousands of motivational books, CDs and DVDs related to empowerment and relationships.
Forty-year-old Weeks is head of Global Destiny Ministries, based in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth.
In the top ten wow . OK so how in the hell did she just become straight broke. 4 weeks ago she did a huge seminar with 17 thousand women atttending. Has she been playing all along? How do you not pay your taxes on a house. This means she did not pay them the whole time she live there. She is a year behind then they auction it. To be more direct , her property taxes were about $2437 a month on that house. For her ..that was nothing. Why didnt she pay it?!!!! Also when you boast about your bently and paintings, you should pay your bills.

I was wondering what the monthly taxes could have been, I know it couldn't have been THAT high where it couldn't be paid. That's what you call living in excess and just spending your money on what ever. THIS is why I can't get my man to come to church with me (when I do go) he says the collection plate gets passed around too many times for him.

Please, you should see what the "First Lady" at my church wears. She has her own seemstress somewhere in Harlem who makes these same satiny dresses, but in brighter colors. I agree , with a lot of what is said here. I said is she broke? , I guess to be a smart azz. I know she spends on what she wants to. BUT it sets a bad example for those who are watching, for the non believer ...it is fuel to the fire. For the believer... it is heartbreaking... for the new christian or those who are seeking answers ...this is very discouraging. But all jokes aside, she can brag and go on and on. So mabybe this is a lesson for her and not us.
It's sad because I don't know what to think about any "religious leaders" now a days I saw her story on BET a few weeks back and had respect for her but the more the story went on it was like...eh? Well nobody is a saint or perfect. When it all falls down no one is there but the almighty himself and we ALL gotta answer to him bottom line. True. I'm from Waycross, and my folks know her. When you speak to her now when you see her out and about, she ignores you and literally walks around with her chin up in the air like she's better than everyone else. Apparently, it's really something to see, lol.
It's odd that me and my mother were just talking about her owning a house in the 'cross a few weeks ago.
Sometimes, you get knocked down a peg so you can be reminded that being a man/woman of God isn't about having material things.
Maybe she should have just been a motivational speaker or life coach and ran with that, Because after seeing a few of her seminars I notices that she is GREAT at lifting people up but maybe she shouldn't attatch God's Name to it. Like she dosen't so much teach the word of God as much as she teaches from her own life's experience. Just a thought. I don't think you can go back after chosing a path like that though. =)
If this is true, this is so sad. She has already been brought down once by GOD, for faking it, and now she cant follow the laws of the land. But Mr. Weeks, was able to get hold of $40 k for his bond. How sad, GOD is really on his way, and we need to pray for these people hard, and ask GOD to have mercy on them!!!!!!!

I too am fed up with the megachurch prophets. They give a bad name to the name of religion and turn believer and non believers off to the REAL GOD. Sure rappers flash their cash but they arent on our TV selling God/religion for profit. I rather send my money to the local churches/ministries or homeless shelters. Why do most pastors as she and others once they make it big, change? I for one am turned off by this kind of stuff. God is a God who is real and shouldnt be played with by no one and not saying she is one, but its many deceiving fake preachers on TV and also in our local churches. God is watching and judging
