: Last week, MediaTakeOut.com was the first news source in the world to tell you that rapper Shawntae "Da Brat" Harris was arrested after smashing an Atlanta woman in the head with a bottle of rum. Da Brat's since been released on bail and it's now starting to look like she may never spend another day in prison for the assault.
MediaTakeOut.com spoke exclusively with a close friend to 24-year-old Shayla Smith - the woman Da Brat allegedly assaulted. And according to our insider, Shala suffered extensive facial bruising and lacerations from the attack. The insider explained, "Shayla had to receive countless stitches to both sides of her face, as well as in her forehead ... there will be more surgery to follow, as the doctors are not sure how scarring will be."
But that's not all. The insider exclusively told MediaTakeOut.com that Shayla suffers from complete memory loss regarding the incident. The insider, who spoke to Shayla recently, told us, "She has no recollection of the incident [whatsoever]."
And according to one of our moles in the Fulton County District Attorney's office, Shayla's memory loss is a huge problem for the prosecution's case. The tipster told MediaTakeOut.com, "No one in [the club] has come forward as a witness ... without Shayla's testimony, it's not likely that [Da Brat] can be convicted."

Just because there are no witnesses coming forward doesn't mean she can't be charged. People get convicted on circumstantial evidence everyday in the United States, so it wouldn't be a first time someone goes to jail without witness testimony. I hope Miss Smith didn't take a payoff because some things are worth more than money. Besides that, she was a cheerleader, so obviously she has some connections with athletes, stars, etc. So I really doubt she would settle for the chump change that Da Brat could throw at her. And again black people not wanting to get involved, but if she was one of their sisters, or daughters they'd be angry because no one came forward as a witness. Just a sad sad state of affairs....
