: Earlier today, we sadly reported that Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West passed away. Since then, the mainstream media has been speculating as to what could have caused her untimely passing. Well MediaTakeOut.com managed to get an EXCLUSIVE interview with one of Donda's family members. And according to that person, Kanye's mother died of complications that arose while getting a tummy tuck and breast implants.
The family member, who was distraught by the incident, told MediaTakeOut.com, "It really was a tragedy. [Donda] went in to have the procedures, and she never made it out." The insider continues, "I'm not sure if it was the anesthesia or what, but she never made it out of the operating room alive."
It's not clear, however, that the physicians or the hospital involved in the procedures are at fault. Nor is it clear that Donda's passing was a direct result of anything done during the surgery.

For years I thought the tummy tuck surgery is what killed James Brown's former wife too. However, it was recently revealed that illegal drugs she had in her body were the primary cause of her death during the tummy tuck.
We're told to get board certified doctors and most intelligent people undergoing surgery do this. If this story about Kanye's mother is true, I'm quite sure she did her research on plastic surgeon because she was a very educated woman. However, major surgery is dangerous for anyone, whether it's needed or cosmetic.
It's sad that a person goes into a hospital and doesn't come out for something seen so routine. Ugh, if this is true, what a tragedy and loss of life.

I saw Kanye's mother on a TV show and she was unlike most other rappers mothers I've seen. She was intelligent, articulate and spoke about raising the son she loved dearly. She didn't tolerate any foolishness and helped him follow his dreams. I'm quite sure this will be a very difficult time for him.
I just saw a show he did where he said he is different than most rappers because he was raised middle class so no one could try and pigeon hole him as most rappers are from the street and he has a lot more to say than just the hardships they always speak about. Everybody has a story but when does that story become a happy one? Kanye seemed to have a happy one.
Will Smith was raised the same way as Kanye was, by an educated mother. I remember Will use to be called all kinds of names by jealous imbeciles from the rap community (mickey mouse rap). However, when Will used bad grammar he said his mother slapped him up side his head--unlike many other street rappers who constantly have the disrespect for women and can't put two words together for an interview. First of all was this a boot-legg doctor or Doctor 90210? There are risk associate with a woman having plastic surgery and breast implants at her age. I can see her having her teeth done but major surgery is a bit much because she is a older woman.
Real doctors sit down with the patient and discuss the risk factors with having that done to your body. The administer the right medicine in the body because of her weight and age and their are nurses and doctors that monitor her regularly to see if she is in any danger....It seem that was not the case with Ms. West sad to say........

Regardless of how Kanye's mother died be it surgical complications for enhancement reasons or others, the point is, she died & the point remains this man lost his mother, his heroine, his best friend, the reason for his being. First and foremost, I want to extend condolences to Kayne and the entire West family. I jus talked to my own mother, and I couldn't imagine what I'd do if she wasn't there to answer the phone. So, condolences first. Now, as far as MTO goes..well...i DO agree different words could've been used. HOWEVER, even on CNN.com and perezhilton.com, they are saying that problems arose during a tummy tuck surgery and another cosmetic procedure which I understand to be breast implants. It's not like MTO is just pulling the whole "tummy tuck" thing out of the sky. I feel like a more appropriate headline should've been "Kayne West's Mother Died During Surgery Complications". I think that's a more sensitive approach. But, after reading what MTO wrote (the article) verbatim, I don't feel like they were trying to sensationalize her death or make it a joke. They didn't include any wisecracks in the article like they sometimes do, they simply said what ALL the other sites are saying. At the end of the day people...MTO is paparazzi. It's their job to try and report the news first, and in making this report, they were somewhat careless in their headline. But they're reporters. They're human. This is what they do. The news is rarely sensitive. And we shouldn't allow, in my opinion, a minor indescretion to shadow our views on the whole website. My condolences to the family. A lot of people don't understand how dangerous these surgeries are. Close to 2% of people that get these tummy tucks don't even live a whole year after the surgery, and a lot of the others are very sickly for a long period of time afterwards. Even with breast implants, it is possible for your body to reject them and shut down all together. I remeber this show on MTV where this chick got implants and the silicon leaked into her blood stream and almost killed her. A lot of doctors wont even tell you this because they just want your money. Be happy with what God gave you, put down the twinkies and Ho Ho's and got to Bally's

The thing that bothers me the most is that everyone has become so obsessed with looks, everyone is niping and tucking and don't even need it. This beautiful black woman did not need any surgery. She was a successful, attractive 59 year old woman and now she is no more. It hurts my soul that she is no longer with us, and for what... I pray for ALL of her family and friends and with them the best through this hard time. God has a way of showing us things plain and clear sometimes, here Kanye is seemenly on top of the world, a great career, soon to be married, his best selling album to date, and now he has lost his mom. I can't imagine what he is going through, but it sure makes you think. All day i've just been thanking God for what I have already, and thanking him for ALL of my blessings even the ones I don't realize are blessings.
I have a girlfriend who lost her sister (age 27)due to complications from this same type of surgery. This is a very dangerous procedure. I am so sorry that it resulted in the loss of such a great woman. Dr. West was truly the essence of a successful Black Woman. I hope that ALL sisters will strive for greatness as she did.

Now I do agree with everyone else. Him losing his mother is a very unfortunate incident that I wish didn't have to happen, however, I feel that this could've been avoided, like many other deaths. It was her OPTION to have this surgery performed, not a REQUIREMENT, and most likely, the risks and dangers should have been explained to her before the surgery was undergone. Neither was she an unintelligent woman by any means and may have done research on the procedure/risks herself. We as humans (Everyone) has something that we wish to change about ourselves, whether it be physical or mental,(otherwise, we'd be perfect) and we all maintain different reasons for wanting to do it. Sometimes we truly have to evaluate things from a logical perspective, and ask ourselves, "Is it truly worth it"? For if you can truly answer yes to that question, I hope it is, because sometimes it will have to be, as in this case.
-For clarification, I didn't post the past articles on Kanye to belittle or insult his mother's death by any means. It was intended to establish a point.
Of course in a time like this, everyone is expressing their sorrow and condolences for the West family (as fit), however we ALL know that Kanye's past history is anything but HUMBLING. It's ironic how most of us can express sympathy for the loss of a life, but otherwise, we are being hateful/evil (in some degree) towards the ones that remain.

If there is anything we can gain from the loss of a loved one, it is to become more HUMBLE. It truly tests us as individuals (not just humans), especially someone so close as your mother.
In a time like this, I personally feel he needs emotional support, not words, or condolences. For someone to say "I'm sorry for your loss", or "I know what you're going through" could be viewed as disrespect (to a degree). I'm sorry for your loss: I know what it is intended to mean, but what does it truly mean: Why are you apologizing? You didn't cause her death. The surgery did. Condolences. True, but not enough.
"I know what you're going through.": No you don't. Everyone handles situations differently, and no can be Kanye but Kanye, therefore, he (humanwise)is the only one that knows how he must be feeling.

To Whom it may concern,
I am certain many others are shocked and appalled at the manner in which you chose to report the passing of Kanye West's mother. We understand that Kanye is a celebrity and as a celebrity he is "fair game" and is subject to the never-ending scrutiny that makes yours and other websites like yours "tick". That said, for you to sensationalize/trivialize the heading of your home page with "Kanye's Mother Killed by a Tummy tuck" was beyond tasteless, it was sickening. To make matters worse, you feigned concern and sympathy by offering your "prayers and condolences". Please have/show some respect for this mans grief at the loss of his Mother! I am trying hard to let my Christianity come through in this letter, but your act of insensitivity is intolerable to say the least! If your mother/father is alive I hope she/he corrects you in a manner that only a parent can. (Take a moment and ponder to what ever degree that correction would be deemed justifiable) If you have already experienced the misfortune of losing a parent please take a hard look at this page and ask yourself, "would this headline be appropriate if this was my mother?" If your answer is "no" please take every necessary step to amend this "story". If your answer is yes, then you need Dr. Phil to help you sort out your "issues" for starters, then follow that with an everlasting dose of Jesus!
My 21 year old son directed me to this website after he heard about the death of Ms. West. While I do not "feed" off of this "cult of celebrity" that has pervaded all forms of media and is arguably complicit in poisoning the minds of impressionable youths (and sad to say some adults) across the spectrum of this country, I just couldn't believe the manner in which you reported this loss of human life. I am a casual fan and I have never met Mr. West, but on behalf of Mr. West I demand that you apologize to the West family and/or administer severe corrective actions to the person responsible for this. Until an apology is printed, I will forward this to everyone I know asking them to boycott your site in light of your egregious actions toward Mr. West and his family.
This blog is the worst. Very rarely do I come here because I know that it is always spitting out lies and propaganda. How are you idiots going to report/quote "some family member" who claims that she never made it out of the operating room alive?? WTF? That is a bold face LIE, especially considering everyone knows she died the DAY AFTER. This site is crude, rude, and full of fake stories.
