Yeah I hear they are a bad record company to work for. I had a friend intern there her last year of college, and once she graduated they didnt offer her a job, and just had her still interning even after heaving a degree and doing a good job there. I think it's incredible how folk blame Jay-Z for these people getting fired. Yes I feel bad for the people but have yall not heard this damn country could possibly go into a huge depression. Businesses everywhere are having to do this. I work for little ass Manatee County and They cut the HELL outta some folk in the courthouse and all over the county in early November. Then after they fired folks the prices went up on all the food places downtown and they took away our cafe in the court house forcing us to order have food delivered and TIP folks which is WAY more money than we used to spend just buying food from our cafe. Then they took away the filtered water so all we have is dirty ass fountains to share with the public. They took away the plants the supposedly "filtered the air" so we would DIE FROM THE MOLD in dat old ass buildin that they won't destroy because it's "Historical" and our work load got LARGER because they fired so many ppl! Oh but no suprise the judges got a BIG ASS raise when our cost of livin raise was cut from 5% to 2% It's all for the rich bitches to get richer and the poor poorer! DEF JAM IS NOT AN EXCEPTION!!

My job is set to close for good in the middle of December. True, we got word back in October, but being laid off is difficult whether you're told six months or six minutes ahead of time. I hope that the ones who were laid off can remain afloat financially..However, I agree with chitownj, people have it mad twisted, Jay is only the President (of the music division, at that) so he also has to answer to HIS bosses as well..People are SO quick to jump on dude, what other young black male is in his position? We should give acknowledgement to that. True, he DEFINITELY came a long way, and continues to keep dudes like Memph Bleek afloat, Bleek ain't dropped in a MINUTE!! The corporate world isn't anything pretty, and you have to realize that TRULY SUCCESSFUL businessmen are successful for a reason, they don't play. I have to comment on this one cuz it happened to me 12 years ago.

I was fired from my job the day of the Xmas party. This is when they give out the Xmas bonuses. Needless to say...I didn't get one.

I had just gotten in the building from getting off the bus and walking down a pretty steep hill in a snow storm only to be pulled to my manager's office. I was late...again.

When I started my job I had a car. I didn't have a car any more and my only means of trans. was the city bus. I was 'happily' told by my manager that "my services were no longer needed." I asked him was he done cuz he was sitting there with a fuccked up smile on his stupid pink face waiting for a reaction from me. I guess I was supposed to be upset. But never let them see me sweat. I just put my walkin-snow boots back on and left. Oh, did I forget to mention that I was a couple of months pregnant with my 3rd child at that this time as well...I didn't even have the chance to tell them that I was accepting b4 I was let go.

BUT GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!! I took the opportunity to go back to school and I turned that seemily negative situation into a positive one.

It was clear that my time there was over and I moved on to bigger and better.

I hope that those who lost their jobs will do the same. My heart and prayers go out to you and your families but better is just around the corner. So go and get it!!!!
