Its really sad that people just dont have quality for life. Since I am in Philly, I can tell you first hand that its crazy over here, the shooting happened about 5 blocks away from my house and there are helicopters and police everywhere all day everyday trying to catch this cop killer. I am confident that someone will turn him in, the reward is up to $115,000 so his family will probably turn him in for the money, as long as this nut is off the street thats all that matters. |

I'm from the city so I know first hands about the street violence and guns being fired. When you have a community of black folks who allow this type of behavior into their neighborhood because of fear and disrespect there is a problem. It's clear that the Philadelphia Police Department gets no love or respect what so ever and folks continue kill. My ex from Philly one time said to me that we don't give a fukc about cops yall do! I'm from west philly they get shot at. He then went on to say that the cops tell who told when everything hit the fan. The killer or his crew comes back and kill the person who told the police. That is why the general public is not helping the police department (Figure It Out)
This trash have rob this same location before a few times and nobody got a good look of who he was or what he look like (come on)
I'm sure not all black men in Philly look that much alike because they're black.
What makes me so upset with black folks is that they label us as being the most violent, non sticking together folks walking the planet and from other behaviors I sometimes would have to agree.....
Our children are living in fear they can't play outside with out the fear of being killed or shot at and folks know who is doing this yet they refuse to say anything about it!
The majority of black men in general have become increasing violent and the heat is on because now they are messing with white folks they are not having that!

I just wanted to chime in on the Philly crime issue. I grew up in South Philly and things have definitely changed. The city is not safe, I don’t even like to go and visit relatives because of all the careless violence. Something has got to be done. Our young boys are slowly killing off the cities population. I believe one step to taking control of the city again, is CHANGING THE GUN LAWS. I am not a fan of Mayor John Street and DA Lynn Abrams but I DO AGREE with the changes they have been trying to make regarding tougher gun laws.
But the problem won’t stop there. Jjones made a valid point about witness protection, “THE WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM SUCKS”. They are not protecting these people, they use them to testify then throw them back into the jungle to fin for themselves. So I can understand why a lot of people don’t speak up. |

Thank for your posting your comment. What really bothers me is this whole "Stop Snitching" movement and the weak witness protection program they have in Philly.
I would rather turn someone in an get them off the streets than stay in my house all day living in fear.
People need to "Start Snitching". Get these killers off our streets. Lock'em up for the crimes that they've committed before they kill someone you and I love!!!!!
I remember watching Camron on 60 Minutes talking about "Stop Snitching". A rapper trying to sell records by convincing young misguided african american's not to turn someone in. Please, rappers need you to buy their CDs. And they'll do and say anything it takes.
I hope that guy turns himself in with a lawyer present. Cause if the Philly PD catches him, they are going to beat his a$$ for what he did. |

WE as a people have to stop watching people get killed 2 in the afternoon and saying we didnt see anything, its crazy how people dont say anything when a crime has been committed.
That no snitch rule is dumn and stupid, however these people dont care about their lives so you know they dont care about yours and that police protection is a joke because once you testify and the case is over, thats it you are no longer protected, so they can come after you and kill you and your entire family. Alot of witnesses in PHilly have been killed before the trials so I can see why people are afraid to come forward becuaes of all the ignorant people out here in the city.
I was listenting to the news and some young guy actually was upset because the cops was looking in our neighborhood for the guy, he said the cops kill us all the time so what one of theres is gone, this is what we are dealing with, young and ignorant and their parents is just as dumn!!! |

I agree that Philly is horrible but I do believe that if people who have any position of power wanted it to stop, they would. The cause of all of this violence is the crazy drug problem we have here, the horrible schools, the fact that they have cut all community programs in and out of school and no-count parents who let their sons run with these different drug crews who will not hesitate to kill anyone. And don't let me get started on the fact that this city only has 6,000+ cops for almost a million people. I pray for the officer who died and his family. The idiot who did that is just pure evil, no doubt about it. But my thought is, if these guys on the street will not hesitate to shoot a cop in the head, what do you think they are doing to regular people? People aren't "snitching" because they are afraid and it is true, the criminals always find out who the witness is. These cops are going to go crazy and I told my boyfriend that he should come in when the street lights come on. I am taking a break from going out late at night. |

I am not saying all of them think like that but some do and they dont care about their family so they really could care less about yours. They need more cops on the streets point blank. At first I was against the whole stop and frisk that Nutter is proposing but I am starting to rethink that now, this city has to do something harsh to get a message to these people that you can do this and think youa re going to get away with it.
The bottom line is it starts in the homes, if the parents dont care then the children will ahve to grow up fast and hard on the streets and take care of themselves by any means necessary.

I grew up in North Philly but now live outside the city. It's sad what happened to the cop but cops shouldn't just want to do there job because one of theirs got killed. A lot of the crime in the city s due to drugs, lack of education, job opportunities and young people who simply were not raised properly. But some of it is due to cops not taking crime seriously because the people who are victims are mainly poor, black or Hispanic. When that cop got shot just about every cop in the city was in the area in a matter of minutes. They were knocking on every door, checking every black man that was walking down the street etc. But if a everyday citizen gets shot it doesn't get the same priority. Every life in the city is important. How many murders have there been in the city so far this year?? This cops life was no more (or no less) important than any man woman or child that's lost there life. What did they expect, all these murders in the city and they were going to be immune to all the violence around them. Cops keep saying the community is not cooperating when crimes are committed. When one of there's get shot they usually find the perpetrator in less than a week. As far the no snitch policy the cops and DA and Mayor complain about. How many cops do you know stand up and snitch on there fellow cops who are corrupted. I'm not blaming the cops for the crime in the city but their needs to be the same sense of urgency whenever ANYONE loses his or her life in the city. |

I live outside the city (across the bridge- Jersey) but my family still lives there and a few weeks back one of my uncles got killed. So far, no one knows anything... of course. It's so frustrating to see people locked up by fear and that 'no snitching' thing...
Now that there have been all these police shootings it seems like other cases have taken the back burner. I'm not saying don't find this guy, but please don't stop looking for the other criminals out there too. My family needs some closure the same as the officer's family. |

I just heard on the news that they have an arrest warrant for the guy, he is 20 yo and his mom is an corrections officer, thats where he got his gun from he stole it from his mother. I just hope he turns himself in before the cops catch up with him and hurt him. |

Respect for human life is so long gone its sad! My daugher is 9 years old and I think God that she has two dedicated parents who cares about her.
I'm a mother so my first job over anything in this world is to be a parent first because I'm my daughter first teacher.
We have children who are lead by the streets and gangs and could care less about what they do and who they do it to.
What about that young boy who was walking to school and got shot in the head a few years back in Philly?. It was said two rival drug dealers got into a gun battle and shot around innocent kids walking to school.
