Her first cancelled show was 9/27 at the Palace (Detroit)rescheduled 10/28... do you know you can go to The Palace website and pick up tickets right up front (8 rows back center stage) as well as good tickets in all price ranges? Miss Jackson ain't selling no tickets! Can't-sell-ticketitis" makes one dizzy and unable to keep food down. Y'all know she's the last moneymaker in the Jackson family, so lets pick up some tickets!
Even 68 year old Tina Turner (11/20) has sold more tickets than Janet at The Palace of Auburn Hills (Detroit)... embarrassing. Better march that "Rhythm Nation" military shiit back to Boot Camp! |

Well I think I'd rather listen to Janet's older stuff. I mean, I would never buy any of her cd's now, and I certainly wouldn't pay money to see her live. Um I don't even download her music. She may have had it before, but I don't see it now. There are so may pop stars out there that are up and coming, and I'm not sure if Janet will be as wanted as they are. |

If you read any of the comments from yesterday, you'll see that I said this. Having worked for the William Morris Agency for several years, I know that when an artist does not sell a certain percent of the house long before the show, they promoter WILL cancel in order to save money all around. This is the usual ploy when an AETIST wants to save face - in fact, managers are given a list of the 'excuses' they can use in order to justify the artist not performing. Just because some sales are good in some areas - does not qualify a complete sellout for the 'TOUR'. Remember - there are lots of people on the tour who have to get paid. For an artist like Janet Jackson - there is no such thing as "breaking even". She can't afford to do that. Additionally, promoters often go after artists who have great sellout potential. Janet has been away too long - the rate that artists are hitting the scene today, an artist, seasonsed as Janet cannot afford to wait in the wings. In the USA, you are only as good as your last hit. Unlike Europeans who cherish their artists and allow them to continue to work and make money long after the sales of their albums have ceased. My opinion - the promoter and the manager and the people connected to the artists should have done better homework. You really need to rely on the radio stations and the other sources where the artists music is played and do surveys. Just because an artist might be a hit maker, does not guarantee that when it comes to live performaces, the high priced tickets they have to charge you, will sell out. Janet has a huge tour and production. But radio is not kind to Janet anymore. Beyonce', Rihanna, to name a few, are the only artists who are selling tickets these days.

Janet must reinvent herself or take time off to have that baby she keeps saying she wants. Maybe she should return to acting for awhile.
Look at Beyonce. Homegirl is not about to stop her career and become a mother just yet. She knows she has to get all the opportunities she wants right now by 30 yrs old.
EnVogue was one of the best female groups I've ever heard. However, they established themselves, took time off to have families and will now come back for a reunion. Their reunion is highly anticipated because they gave people a chance to miss their talent and not appear like they've been chugging at it for 50 yrs.
Patti Labelle is a legend but her shows had to be retooled too. Plus, Patti has ventured off into other things. A person can't #1 on the charts her entire life.
Celebs wouldn't have to tour so much if they didn't spend so much. Touring is the bulk of their income but it is very grueling too. With this economy, I can't see anyone spendng a fortune for concert tickets. |

For anyone figuring she's pregnant, think again. Janet has been pulling these stunts in every tour she's done. So unless she's been pregnant on every tour she's done in her career, methinks that's not the issue. I've been to every Janet tour she's ever done (though I have no interest in seeing this one), and EVERY SHOW she did here in Philly were rescheduled "due to illness". And for those looking for excuses, please don't go blaming promoters. Nobody has the time or the money to be wasting on "blackballing" Janet, go get over it.
I mentioned on here a few days ago that 1 of my best friends is a Sales Exec with Live Nation. And he told me that this illness issue of hers is caused by low ticket sales on this tour. So far, she's only had 2 sellout shows out the first 11! The Philly show only had sold 4,700 tickets in a 21,000-seat arena before she "fell ill". The BankNorth Garden in Boston had sold only 3,500 seats in that 20,000-seat building. And the remaining shows on the tour ain't doing much better. At least, in previous tours, ticket sales weren't an issue when she "fell ill" & had to postpone shows. But now, just like with her record sales, her tickets aren't selling either - which makes the "illness" look more related to poor ticket sales.
So for the Janet Freaks (I love her too, but we gotta be realistic) who never wanna admit that she's fallen off in the sales department just because she's an "icon", enough is enough & it's time to stop pretending the fall-off isn't happening. If Beyonce or Alicia were to sell ONE LESS COPY than usual, some of you'd be telling them they're washed & to sit down. Yet Janet can sell 10% of what she used to, and some of us are saying "Huh? NOO SHE'S DIDN'T FALL OFF! IT'S CUZ OF THE SUPER BOWL 4 YEARS AGO! UM, IT'S THE RECORD BUSINESS, NO ONE SELLS BIG NUMBERS ANYMORE!!" Oh no? Tell that to A. Keys or Beyonce or Mary J. or Timberlake or Ne-Yo or Chris Brown or even Lil Wayne -- ALL of whom are still putting up huge numbers to this day. Just my 2 cents, thanks. |

I just love it when stuff like this happens. I'm a stronger and loyal Janet fan and I will always like her no matter what! It is actaully sad that people actually wanna hear "Good,Good" live over "Feedback". And what makes it worst is JD produced good good. I do agree on some levels about Janet and Jermaine. It really is starting to sound like more of a partnership than relationship to me.
It's really sad how people don't realise how many children were made to Janet Jackson songs.It sounds crazy but it is the truth. But what people don't understand is that Janet always seems to reinvent herself. Now how many people can say that their on their 5th tour? Or even 10th album? People get real!

A fast nickel beats a slow dime any day...

For all of you who say it's ticket sales, you couldnt be more wrong. I was at her show at the Staple Center in Los Angeles where the lakers play with a capacity of 17,997 and it was sold out. I would reccomend that you attend a show before speaking things you are not aware of. |
