According to he politician, who asked to remain anonymous, Jay Z is "serious" about politics and is "strongly looking into" a 2009 Mayoral run.

Okay, let's be real about this. It's not that Jigga couldn't do the job, but let's not forget there is still a "network" that runs local/state politics. Jay has a "background" as we all know and pretty much the entire world is familiar with. The "network" is fine with the former street star being a very rich, celebrity, artist and businessman due to his ability to influence many people. It's good for business; however, that's where it will stop. When it comes to lawmaking, there is no way in hell the "good ole' boys" are going to let that happen. you are so right, but I believe the only Rapper that would have been qualified and had the education and intellect was Tupac....he was the only rapper I would ever vote for (but he was more than a rapper anyway) , but unfortunately he's passed, when I was 16 I found myself getting into politics because he was talking about it, I found myself reading more than before, I read some of the books he read, I begin to find the person that was inside me, I found my soul .and I learned allot from him, he actually taught me to love my race when I didn't, he taught me to search for knowledge, education is the most important thing. He was very inspiring ,I really miss him....I'm 27 now and I'm the senior accountant of an architectural firm in Corte Madera, Ca. I just thank GOD for his existence, he was truly heaven sent.

WHY? I mean stuff like this annoys me. This reminds me of how Will Smith was on every interview back in 2001 talking about how he knows he could be president. It wasn't the fact that because he's black and a man that he couldn't be president, but his sole reason for saying that came from his popularity and ego rather than having true political agenda's (that we never heard ONE thing about). Fast forward to 2008: I appreciate any black man, child or woman feeling inspired by what we are experiencing politically-as history has been made these past two years. But I have a SERIOUS problem with some (celebrity) telling me: "I think I could be president (or mayor)" when 98% of your interviews are about money, h/o/e/s, clothes [and acting roles]. I respect Jay Z's flow like a mug. I respect his business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit, however, for him to just "decide" to run for mayor is as silly as Arnold Schwarzenegger is as governor, as stupid as Will Smith claiming he could be president and as pathetic and ludicrous as Sara Palin [could quite possibly be] our president. He needs to stay in his own lane and quit being lead by his ego, money and popularity. Hell. First he TOLD every hip hop head in the game that he was the best at it; he got got every mofo IN the game bowing down to that and believing it (even if they don't want to), maybe that's what he's doing with this possible mayoral run as well.
