I understand completely. There is a rift in my family because of something similar (no deaths thank God), but my sister brought a known criminal (we have documentation of his rap sheet) and drug dealer into my mother's home shortly after the death of our father. He proceeded to loot all of the valuable carpentry tools our father left behind. My father wanted us girls to sell the tools and divide the money between the four of us. Well, the tools and the money from the sale went to the dope man. This guy has stolen food from my mother's freezer. When I tried to talk to my mother about my concerns, my sister blew up, told me to go to hell and said as far as she was concerned she had to sister. Even her own sons tried to make her see what she had brought into the house. Why my mother doesn't do anything, I don't know, but I never go over there anymore. There are too many thugs and ruffians there and I don't feel comfortable. There is a definite rift, but Julia chose William Balfour over her family. And I'm sure if he were to be released, she would go back to him. My sister used to kick her crack head man out of the house, throw his clothes out behind him and then before you could blink an eye, he was right back in mama's house and in my sister's bed. |

This may sound wrong but Jennifer needs to do whatever she needs to do to get through this without having a nervous breakdown and if that means that her and David are alone and away from the rest of the family so be it.
The rest of the family gets to grieve in private for the rest of their lives, but Jenn on the other hand at some point will have to emerge and face a slew of questions and finish grieving with the entire world watching so while my heart goes out to Julia and I don't want to think that she would have anything to do with this, Jennifer is the focus because unless she is going to scrap her career behind this she needs time to get it together so that she can go forward. |

It appears that Julia placed her son - and ultimately her family in jeopardy because she chose to get involved with a trifling thug. She's obviously desperate. If I were Jennifer, I'm not sure I would ever forgive her.
I felt something odd when I saw Julia's press conference. Something is not right about that woman.
Under ideal circumstances, siblings should be very close. I have one sister, but we are as different as night and day. When I purchased my home, I invited her over. She behaved strangely, but I didn't think much of it. My stepfather later told me that she was upset because my home is nicer than hers. I brushed it aside. I recently went on a cruise.sent her a brief e-mail telling her about the cruise and suggesting that we take her kids (she's divorced) on one because they would enjoy it. She didn't respond to the e-mail and hasn't called me since I returned.
When we were younger, I was the skinny, sickly and awkward child who was put down. God has fixed it where things have changed and she just can't cope with it. |

I don't know why you people keep forgetting that Jason Hudson was a dope dealer selling dope out of his Momma's house and he was affiliated with one of the most notorious gangs in Chicago so if anyone brought this to the family it was him. Not only that I haven't heard about her mother having a job and her brother was disabled so I would have to guess that it was Jenn that was paying all the bills in the house b/c a bus driver makes good money but not enough to support herself, her son, her mother, and her brother. Jenn was holding it down for the family but her mother was stubborn.

I say Jennifer is making the right move. Usually, I would feel empathy for someone like Julia, but it just wasn't there. Jennifer is going to have to move on and find sisters, friends, etc. elswhere. It is the safest thing to do and it is in her best interest. She's a beautiful, talented young woman (I love her cd, especially "Jesus Promised Me A Home Over There").

Some people said this was going to happen, rather hope that it happen so I hope you guys feel good about it now. It's amazing that they have found the gun that was used on all the vicitims and they still can't find who did it. Her and her brother were close enough in the game that they both got locked up in 02 on drug charges and I'm sure it didn't stop then. It’s sad, but not surprising, especially since one is in the public eye as an entertainer and the other is not. However, there is always “more” to a story than what we are seeing on the surface…especially when the reader has no personal relationship with the people in question.
Twice I have read here in the comments that both Julia and her deceased brother were involved in criminal activities related to a well known gang there. Twice I have read that Jennifer either attended school with William Balfour or knew him in some way “other” than through her sister’s relationship with him. And everyone knows her mother chose to stay in the home she managed to raise them in. So the “story” of this family does not begin with Jennifer’s lucky turn in life due to American Idol and end with these murders possibly at the hands of her ex brother-in-law. There is background about their environment, family etc. that most aren’t privy too until/unless some investigative report exposes everyone…to include Jennifer. For all we know had she not been afforded the opportunity to meet people outside the circle of her environment…she may have been huddled up in an apartment somewhere with a guy named Pookie instead of Oprah’s private estate…and STILL have the same issues she’s having with her sister now. |

Jennifer's mother seems like a woman with a loving heart. If the stories about the drug dealing are true, this is even more tragic. I attended the funeral of a dear family friend a couple of years ago. As it turns out, her grandson is a drug dealer and he had been giving her and family members money/gifts for years. He paid for extra limos for the family. This was a woman that I've known for years and she and her family were very big in the church. No amount of money is worth the associated risks. |

There is something going on that the police department is being very quiet about and obviously Jennifer got word of it. The suspicions of her sister Julia. I am sure they are checking to see if there is any money trails here in regard to insurance policies. Her cellphone records are also in question around the days before and after the murders. Jennifer is now suspicious of her sister and rightly so. She has to be until the investigation is completed and has to protect herself. I am sure the police department insisted upon it. Let's not forget Jennifer went to school with William so she knew him first. There are pictures on Julia's myspace page with him and Jennifer. I don't know why you people keep forgetting that Jason Hudson was a dope dealer selling dope out of his Momma's house and he was affiliated with one of the most notorious gangs in Chicago so if anyone brought this to the family it was him. I think Darnel was an innocent bystander and poor Julian was in the wrong place and the wrong time and saw too much.
I have not figured out in my own mind what part Julia played in this mess. It has been reported that the family may have been murdered with Jason’s gun. Could Julia have provided the murder weapon? Is this all a plot to get back at William? I do not think she is totally guiltless and she is definitely holding something back.
I still say William Balfour did not do this. Is he a drug dealer? Yes, It has been proven. Is he a drug user? Yes, it has been proven. He is also a car thief that foolishly took a man on a ride and nearly killed him. The courts said attempted murder, I disagree but that is neither here nor there. All of those things do not make William Balfour a cold blooded murdered.
Julia and Jennifer knew William. They grew up with him. It isn’t like he was a complete and total stranger to them. They had history. I don’t buy that story about Jennifer being upset with Julia for “bringing” William because it appears he was always around.
Jennifer may be Hollywood now but she was “hood.” I think she may know a little bit about what is going on too. She didn’t go to Idol until 2004. That means she was around during that 2002 raid.
What was keeping Darnel there? Did she not want to leave Jason and Julia because she knew they were both knuckle heads? Why were her grown son and daughter still living in the house even after it was raided?

I pray for Julia too, but before this, I didn't even know Jennifer had a sister, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, so of course Jennifer's going to stay at forefront of everyone's mind.

Well I knew this was coming. It was obvious that was Jennifer's intuition about Julia's husband. Can you blame her? He had served 6 years in prison for manslaughter and they were off and on again. Plus the threats, drama, and little things that happened within the family that is personal.

Yeah, but it's not just sloppy Joe's falling for thugs. There are pretty girls who have so much to offer with these bums. I know a few. Skinny, tall, short, fat...they're attracted to that danger and mystique. I can't understand it.
And for those who think Jen needs to support her sister...Jen is barely sane right about now much less to come to the aid of her sister. I have a feeling that was the dynamic growing up. It's interesting to see the personal opinions on what Jennifer and Julia should do, when, for one, no one on this mb have walked in their shoes.
I'm sure Julia is griving in her own way. Everyone grieves differently. Just because you don't hear about her staying in bed all day doesn't mean she isn't grieving. We all process things differently. No one see her when she's behind closed doors.
And the same thing goes for Jennifer for those who say she needs to go home. Who are you to say that?
Jennifer needs to do what she needs to do to process this all and allow God to mend her heart.
She's full grown and is going through a difficult time right now.
None of this is in anyway her fault. You can't make a grown person do something they don't want to. She asked her mom to move but her mom declined. But in this case, it may not have mattered where they lived if someone was looking for them. So that's not even a relevant complaint.

True, true. I wasn't informed of the drug activity until today. I only guessed it was drug related because of the nature of the crime. Or maybe I heard a little bit before in that last thread? I can't really remember because I was in and out of MTO during that week.

My momma would NEVER have let us siblings THINK about not speaking to each other -- she'd whip all our butts, we were raised that way and as a result, we are all still very close though we have grown up and gone our separate ways.

I get so upset with my childrens father(s) when i need to work late or do something (which is rare) and they make up excuses why they can not keep their child. I am not slow so i would not just trust anybody with my kids but FATHERS some times you need to miss work for sick kids or when mommy has to work late...these kids are your responsiblity too.

Jennifer Hudson actually got her dream to come true and make it from the hood. Her family was allegedly caught up in drug dealing and a gang, still living with their mother. Jennifer's mother didn't even want to move from her neighborhood, nor does it seem she wanted to put her kids out. Now what ever dirt they did, it cost them their lives. William Balfour, a suspect in the murders of three members of Jennifer Hudson's family, has been held for two weeks awaiting a hearing on whether a parole violation will keep him behind bars.
The hearing before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board is scheduled to be held Monday morning at Stateville Correctional Center, prison officials said. Balfour has not been charged with a crime, but police have developed several pieces of information tying him to the crime scene at the Hudson family South Side home on Oct. 24., the day that the Oscar-winning actress' mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were killed.
Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew's body was found three days later on the West Side.
If the board decides there is insufficient evidence that Balfour violated the terms of his parole for a 1999 attempted murder conviction, he could be released after the hearing.

I am curious to know what "evidence" they have. Fingerprints or dna can be explained because he once lived there. I guess we will have to wait to find out if he tested positive for gun shot residue. It doesn't wash off easily.
If he was arrested simply because of a parole violation he very well may be released. Is it possible the police have put so much focus on Balfour as a suspect they ave let the trail go cold on any other possible suspects.
I have not found one news article naming Julia Hudson as a "person of interest." So I would like to know where people are getting their information from.

Hate to bring this up... but ... how innocent could Jhuds mother be to have her grown man son pushing out her house?
