And they're actually two artist who actually make great music. Brandy sold because she had the best lyrics, best production and a great sound. You can't say that about most artist today.

We've just been informed of the specifics surrounding the
physical altercation that indeed took place between Monica and
Brandy backstage at the MTV VideoAwards rehearsal. According
to our three eyewitnesses, 1) a performer on the show that night,
2) the performer's label rep and 3) the performer's make-up person),
all three say they witnessed Brandy repeatedly belittling Monica's
dancers, often referring to them as peons.
(Several years ago, we heard rumors of Brandy referring to the food
service folks on her "Moesha" set as "crumbs.")
In defense of her dancers, Monica stepped to her with verbal
threats to cut it out. Shouts back and fourth resulted in Monica
throwing three quick jabs to Brandy's face. Brandy's bodyguard
jumped in and according to our witnesses, "held Monica
down so that Brandy could get in a punch," which landed
in Monica's stomach before it was broken up.
Every dark cloud (or black eye) has a silver lining, and
in this case it is how the two went on to perform that night
without a hitch. You can't be mad at Brandy's people, Monica's
people or MTV for trying to cover it up. Two young, sisters fighting
over things so petty reflects poorly on not only MTV, but the
perception of black women period. Our advice to the both
of them -- go see "Beloved." |

And they're actually two artist who actually make great music. Brandy sold because she had the best lyrics, best production and a great sound. You can't say that about most artist today.
Today's mainstream music is terrible. It's not even impressive to see certain artist go platinum anymore because they make such trashy music. It's just a sad testament of how far the music game has changed since the 90's.
Todays young artist couldn't hang with the music that Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah made when they were 13-18 years old.
