To me, it's truly sad the way some of us have to seemingly live by that "Black or Bust" mentality, where if a black man marries a woman who isn't specifically black (doesn't matter if she's another minority), then he's still "selling out". Here's reality -- the girl is Cuban, which makes her even more of a minority in this country than blacks. "Hating his momma" should have nothing to do with whether he marries someone of the same race. To me, that's just ignorant thinking, but it's just my opinion.
I feel as though, if you don't stand a higher statistical chance of happiness by marrying the same race, and marriages only have a 50/50 success rate, REGARDLESS of the race of the participants, then it should not matter what color the person is that you marry. A black woman will rob you blind as quick as anyone else. Know why? Cuz there are snakes in EVERY race! So why should it make someone sleep any better at night, just being able to tell themself the 50/50 is black? If that's what makes you sleep better at night, to know that the potential snake is black, instead of it being white or butter percan... to me it's just trivial.
Besides... if who someone marries doesn't make your taxes any higher or lower, if it doesn't get your bills paid any sooner, why be the slightest bit offended or bothered by who someone's spending THEIR lives with??? I think whoever hasn't read the Willie Lynch letter posted on the Neyo site should, this has something to do with this topic here as well. We as a people need to come together but the divide is there and evident, while corporate America has opened her doors to Black women and education is prevelant amongst our women now, some feel that they are too good to be with a brother who has nothing and the system was intentially designed to keep us all down but they are wise and they knew that they had to make the women advance more in this society because since slavery out of fear of killings and public humiliation bestowed on the men the mothers had to raise their daughters to be independent from their men, the image was destroyed when the biggest,baddest,meanest, smartest, and most attractive were tared and feathered and both legs tied to horses at opposite ends and pulled apart in front of all the women so phycologically, it had a lasting impact. Every Black woman wants to be loved she just has to be showed how. I'm not painting with a broad brush because the men I feel are far worse off but all the energy we have has to be put into the female because a child learns everything from his/her mother hence continuing the cycle.

I just want to clarify and comment on what some people were saying, starting with MJ and Juanita. The speculation is that they married because it was advised that it would be a good 'business' move for him. They had dated for years and had their eldest son, he was in the numerous scandals, and it was a way that his agents and managers felt would clean up his image and make him more bankable. Although there were several issues brought up during their marriage, Juanita remained classy and never slandered or talked bad about MJ. When she initially filed for divorce, she only asked for the Chicago home and custody of their children. So my question is, why is she being called a gold digger, or people are saying that she got over. She got a huge payout, that she was definitely entitled to! She even signed a post-nup after they were married. If you don't agree with the law, petition to change it.
Also, the black race exists as it is today because we're so concerned about tearing apart what each other do, that we don't take the time to talk to, listen, or uplift each other. We hate on each other in ways that other races couldn't imagine.
It kills me when people of other races come onto sites like MTO and BP saying "I don't understand." That's because you don't try or want to. I am a black woman, and when black men date interracially, they treat us differently, like we're less than others. It happens! That's why I try to stear clear of those brothers. Don't get me wrong, I've dated brothers that only date sistas and some of them are such dogs that they aren't doing us any favors. But when you're dealing with a black man that dates other raced women exclusively, they see black women differently.
What does being in the gym have to do with anything? I'm in the Army and I work out everyday, and I don't have to go to the gym to do it. Men saying they meet 'other' women in the gym because sistas aren't in there are making up excuses! If you don't see her in the gym, go to church; maybe you'll meet a sister there, and then take her to the gym with you!
We all need to stop pointing the finger at why we are so divided, and begin to start listening to each other. We are about to start setting the example for America with the First Family.
