I am not big on Fairy Tales, but I think that line comes from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. However, MY mirror is not quite the same as the mirror in the Fairy Tale. MY mirror is my own eyes. MY mirror represents ONLY what I see when I look at me… not what anyone else sees, because after all, reality IS relative.
No, I do not mean to say that reality is your cousin. I am using the word relative as an adjective. As in, reality exists only by relation to something else. Therefore, your reality is whatever you identify with.
If you identify with being a positive person who lives in the now and understands that yesterday can never come back and tomorrow is not promised, reality is, you will find happiness always within your grasp.
If you identify with having a negative outlook, expecting the worst and never being satisfied with what you have, reality is, you will have a very hard time finding true happiness and satisfaction.
I thought about this because of something that happened to me, the other day. I launched my own business, finally!!! This has been a long time coming and I have worked extremely hard and, thankfully, things went very well. HOWEVER, just as I took a moment to be still and be thankful and dance a little jig in celebration of my accomplishments… BAM! A hater found their way into my joy! Actually, a few of them did.
These haters crept up and bit me right on the ***, as soon as I let my guard down, a little! They said some things that ALMOST hurt my feelings. I say “almost” because, I caught myself before I allowed them to get to me. I went to MY mirror and I said “Mirror Mirror On The Wall, who is the one that wont let me fall?” My mirror answered back, “you are, Madeline. You are the one who won’t let YOU fall. You are the only one who is responsible for you.”
MY mirror is 100 percent correct. I am responsible for myself and for my feelings. I am responsible for what I identify with and what I allow to affect me. I create my own reality based on what I believe and how I live my life. As long as I identify with being happy, positive, beautiful in side and out, caring, sharing and compassionate, that will be the reality that I live.
I write this blog for those of you who need a reminder that no one determines what or who you are except for you. Don’t allow the world to be your mirror. See yourself through your own eyes. But remember, just like Stupid is as Stupid does… ugly is as ugly does and beauty is as beauty does. So, when you are looking in your own mirror, make sure you are giving it something positive to reflect back to you. In life, you get out what you put in….. The same goes for your Mirror.
