: MediaTakeOut.com has learned that in a recent interview with Essence magazine, director Tyler Perry refuses to directly address the issue of his sexuality. Here's an excerpt of the interview, when the interviewer confronts Tyler about the gay rumors::
[Tyler Perry] acknowledges first, that climbing into a dress and wig and packing his face full of Maybelline could very well lead people to question for which side he's hitting. "It used to bother me a whole lot in the beginning, it really, really did," says Perry. "But what it's done is give me firm seating in my manhood. And if some people can't separate the character from the man that I am, then that's their issue, not mine."What the heck kind of response is that??? Why won't he just say whether he is, or he isn't?? Better yet, why won't Essence just ask him the question straight up???. Guess that would be too much to ask from them. Sorry y'all we're just venting...

Playing the character of Madea does not make Tyler Perry gay. Although he does a great job of making me laugh when he’s in character, it never led me to believe that he was gay. Lots of men play female characters without any question about their sexuality (Arnold Schwartzenegger, Robin Williams, Martin Lawrence, John Travolta, etc.). Tyler is a man that God used to be a light and tell stories that make people think and show people they can make it despite their difficulties. To try to continue to “cut him down” with rumors and accusations is just another example of the “crabs in a bucket” mentality that some of us still have. I respect Tyler’s work. I respect Tyler as a man and I can truly separate the man from the character. For those who cannot, may I suggest you open your mind? Expressing your opinion about not liking his show is one thing. Certainly you have a right to your opinion on that. But making accusations about the man’s private life is totally uncalled for.
I pray he keeps making good movies, plays, etc. I’ll continue to support him as long as he keeps entertaining! Go Tyler!

But when a man A BLACK MAN AT THAT is asked whether he's gay or not and he doesn't answer with a NO or a Hell no or a Hell naw he's gay. The gay ones usually beat around the bush and avoid answering.

It's a shame how people can't stand to see someone be successful and not try to find some way to demean them or pick them apart. Tyler has done excellent work and I truely believe that he is straight. I believe he made that very clear in his response but I don't think that MTO is even trying to grasp the concept of what he actually said. Regardless, I love his work and I will continue to watch his movies, plays, or whatever else he decides to come out with. God bless you Tyler and you should continue to do as the Lord leads you.
This morning I have decided to NEVER again post or read this website again. Why? Because after some praying and soul searching, this website, and others like it or so unGodly. Why do I say this? Well, first of all MTO, you are always digging in someone else's private life. You talk about their spouses, their children, and their intimate details as if you have a right to expose their dirty laundry because your life is so perfect. And then, you hide behind a computer. You don't expose who you (and your staff) are and their private lives. The day you ran a "fake" news story on Min. Hezekiah Walker should have told me that you all are a part of the devil's plan to tear people's lives apart. You are no better than the Saducees and the Pharisees in the new testament. You dog others out while you live your lives just as bad as the people that you are accusing. You many your dirty loot (money) by digging up others sins. Tyler, P-Diddy, Beyonce, Eddie, Jay-Z, Kelly, Usher, and all the rest deserve a PRIVATE life. Yes, they give up a little privacy because of their chosen careers, but they don't have to reveal things about the details of their private lives no more than you or I do. The internet is a great invention but seems like everything God blesses us with we end up using it to hurt and destroy others. This website is destroying reputations, marriages, and lives. You ALL will answer to God for that. And for those who have itching ears to hear how miserable someone else is, you're a part of the problem. Why it matters is that Perry is a multimillionaire because of his message about the power of the church community - the same community that supports discrimination against gay people. If he's gay, that makes him a major hypocrite. He needs to find the courage not only to come out, but to call the black churches on their hypocrisy as well. If he's not, he needs to say so. But I"m guessing he won't say "I'm not gay" because that would be telling a lie, which he either doesn't want to do, or doesn't want to get caught doing.
I admire a lot of things about Perry and have seen all his films. But he needs to own this.
