Keisha's got a long, long way to go to reach Mary status, so Mary needs to just chill and not worry about her. A while back, I heard Mary on the radio doing a live interview, and she was talking about certain people trying to "clone" her. She said it would never happen because this certain person (she was talking about Keisha Cole) didn't have her vocal range and couldn't reach all the octaves that she can. Yeah, Mary can reach a few octaves now, but before this last album, and before some vocal coaching, all she did was holler to reach her high notes, JUST LIKE KEISHA DOES, and every time she sang live, she'd lose her voice, JUST LIKE KEISHA DOES. Mary's matured vocally, and Keisha still needs to mature vocally, but I do see similarities between the two. I just don't see Keisha's career having the longevity that Mary's does because Mary's first 2 albums were hot, and almost every single cut off both albums became a hit. Keisha has not done that, put out an entire album of hits, and I doubt she ever will. |
