IT'S A WRAP!!! G-UNIT SHUTS DOWN CLOTHING LINE

February 08, 2008. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that 50 Cent's G-Unit clothing is officially closed down effective this afternoon. The clothing line, which as a joint venture between Mark Ecko and 50 Cent, had been in business for nearly 4 years.

The official reason for the company ceasing operations is a "change of partners." But MediaTakeOut.com has exclusively learned that the entire staff of the clothing company will be let go today.

According to a person familiar with G-Unit clothing business, the clothing line was no longer a viable business. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "A lot of people lost a lot of money on [G-Unit clothing]. It was time to let things end."

G-Unit Clothing is estimated to have brought in $75M in revenues last year. It is not, however, clear whether the company ever made a profit.

	Anti-dumb: Why are you scared of 50's comments about Obama? I didn't vote for Obama, nor will I. I have been saying that if he won the candidacy, it's almost expected that he'd be assassinated. I don't wish that upon the brotha, but Amerikkka the great isn't even ready for a black man to run this "great" nation. Look at history, which I am sure you know very well. Look at what's happened to our black leaders. Hell, look at JFK who wasn't near black. JFK was to America in the 60's what Bill Clinton was in the 90's (and still is). He was genuinely concerned about the plight of the black American, which, in my opinion, is the reason why he was assassinated. He should be mentioned in black history the same way Malcolm and Martin are - with reverence. Obama needs more experience. If we work off of the "chain of command," it's expected that a (white) woman become President before a black man. Every time we get a Republican in the White House, the first thing they want to do is overturn Roe v. Wade. We need someone to help fight for women's rights. We work harder than men yet we earn 2/3 of what they earn (if we're fortunate). Women are primarily responsible for childcare. (Mama's baby, daddy's maybe.) We need a woman in the White House who will make men take responsibility for the children they produce. [It's not just about a man sending a check every month. Spend time with your child and get to know that part of yourself. It will help you as much as it helps them.] We need more resources dedicated to women's healthcare beyond breast cancer. Women are contracting colon cancer at an alarming rate. (It is a silent killer.) Heart disease is a huge killer of women, yet the emphasis isn't being placed where it should be. Women need childcare so they can go out and work and know that their children are safe and attended to. What man do you know who will protect a woman's interests better than a woman? I think Obama is a formidable candidate, but I wish he would put his ego on the back burner and work alongside Hilary rather than against her. If Hilary ran for President and Obama ran for Vice President (even with the intention of him running for President in 2012), they would have the election on LOCK. It has to be a slap in the face for BOTH of the Clintons to have worked as hard as they did for 8 years for America and place emphasis on the living conditions of black Americans since a disproportionate number of black people are adversely affected by poverty, only to have folks stand by Obama because he's black and he sounds like he can save the world. We need change for something more than the parking meter, but there's a way to do things. Obama's way isn't necessarily the best way. The Clintons have a proven track record.
