: MediaTakeOut.com told you last week that Sean "Diddy" Combs would be hiring only African American models for his Sean John Fall fashion show - and that's exactly what he did. Check out the photos below of Diddy's full line.
To end the show, Diddy even brought out model Tyson Beckford. The two had been feuding over a lawsuit filed nearly a year ago.
Given the number of prominent fashion designers who refuse to hire African American models in fashion shows around the world - we think it was a courageous move for Diddy. Who knew he had it in him....
See, I always knew Diddy was a stand up guy, thats why I never knocked him when everybody else did. I've always love Diddy bcuz he just have something special about him. I'm most definitely feeling this knew transition on the catwalk. Nice looking AA men making an impact in the industry. Kudos to Diddy!!!!
about *** time. Black celebrities need 2 boycott some of these designers who refuse 2 use black models in their shows. In Italy, some designers were posting signs "Black models need not apply". Will forever love and support Yves Saint Laurent. Just saw a *** on him and he used the most black models i have ever seen by a white designer. Go YSL!
SEE THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HATE THIS MAN EVEN WHEN WE WANT TO....on another tip..his line looking good..like dat suite(top right pic)niceeeeeeeee! right up my alley and the second to last set, the dude to the left of tyson...(fiyah!!!!!!!!!, the suite dat is.) he DID take it back to the 'harlem ***' days..*** dat *** looks GREAT...imagine if we WERE walking around all looking dapper like that ...food for though...it'd socially incite a LOT of changes..like respect for one..and many others!
Congrats Diddy on segregating people, doing the exact opposite of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wanted and in black history month of all months. HOW BEAUTIFUL! Showing different races coming together would be a good look since you say fashion shows only have whites, why not have a whole mix? Whatever he's an *** and he didn't make it on the richest list for once so he's losing in my book.
YingYang Flag post Now what happens if a major white designer does that? We'd call him a racist right? We can't have our cake and eat it too. We need to stop being hypocrites 90% of the time. While this was a bold move, what does it really prove? Divided we stand and divided we fall...

there are all white fashion shows all the time. what are you talking about

This ruler isn't exactly the street-savvy specimen we've seen in the past. For one thing, Combs says, he's been mellowed by a female influence.
"Every great king falls in love with a woman, and we all have to admit it, if you fall in love with a woman she affects your style. She inspires your style, she changes the way you look and you walk and you talk and you act ... and you see the style getting more modern, more forward."
Diddy may be a lot of things, but one thing he is is true to his purpose and his cause. I read another article saying that it was a risky move because hiring only African Americans is considered reverse discrimination. Well, how in the hell could that be? Look at the runways now, all you see is white people and African American models can't even get hired. Why? because it would be considered too risky to put African Americans on a runway where the clothes that are being modeled are intended for white people only. Here you have Diddy whose clothes were made with the intent of providing high fashion for African Americans, but somehow are consumed mainly by whites. Now he's pimped slapped the fashion industry by putting all Blacks and no whites in a show where the majority of the spectators are white and the majority who will purchase his clothes are white. Ha Ha!! Kudos to Diddy!! Recognize authority in the fashion industry when you see it.OWwwwww!!!!!!! And, they are all very beautiful.
@ YingYang
If we don't take care of our own then (((NO ONE))) else will!! This has very well been proven. And I do get your point about being divided, but like cat said, white designers do it ALL the time. They'll either have (1) No black models at all, (2) Token black models (few sprinkled in here and there but NEVER too many), or (3) a few lucky black models who have made it far enough to crossover (Tyra, Naomi, Iman types). So if whites aren't giving us a break and black designers weren't using many black models either...then who would??
Whites are the #1 reason for the black community's warped perception of beauty. We're not seeing enough examples of black beauty in the media, fashion shows, etc...everything that is portrayed as beautiful is Europeanized. Not to say that Europeanized beauty isn't beautiful...but there is also more than 1 type of beauty and it's about time we see that.
***NOTE*** Does anyone think that if he had a women's line (or do he??) that he would use ALL black models for that as well?? hmmm...
historically the fashion industry has been one that we contribute to and patronize greatly yet our images are RARELY reflected, this being evident by an all black line up being historical...Thanks Diddy for knocking down doors that many of us cant get access to the hallway to and being the trendsetter that u r..i find it funny that no one cried racists b4, fashion shows CONSISTENTLY book all white models and its just considered the standard...big up to diddy-man...btw, doesnt one of the models look like obama?...lmao!
If we keep this up and spend that 112 trillion with each other Diddy won't be the only brother worh $300 million plus!
The media never focus on positive black men, we exist in multitudes, and they only focus on the ciminals.
Anyway, thanks for the shine on the movers and shakers amongst black men DIDDY!!
I GIVE HIM BIG KUDOS!!! THIS IS THE ONLY POSITIVE THING I HAVE SEAN REALLY DONE SO BIG KUDOS! NOW HE NEEDS TO START W/ THE FEMALES! WHEN USES FEMALES, HE USES MOSTLY LIGHT SKINNED LATINOS. I MEAN THEY ARE SO MANY GORGEOUS BLACK MODELS BUT THEY ONLY CHOOSE 1 AS A TOKEN AT A TIME. IT'S TIME TO SEE MORE THAN 1 BLACK SUPERMODEL AT THE SAME TIME! AND YET THEY CAN HAVE SO MANY WHITE SUPERMODELS, AND MOST ARE UGLY OR AVERAGE AT BEST. IT'S TIME TO HAVE BLACK UNITY, AND THE TIME IS NOW?!
YingYang Flag post Now what happens if a major white designer does that? We'd call him a racist right? We can't have our cake and eat it too. We need to stop being hypocrites 90% of the time. While this was a bold move, what does it really prove? Divided we stand and divided we fall...

HONEY, WHTE DESIGNERS ALREADY DO THAT! LOOK AT THEIR SHOWS, AT MOST THEY 1 TOKEN BLACK GIRL JUST TO SAY THEY AREN'T RACIST. THERE ARE SO MANY ASPIRING BLACK MODELS, AND YET THEY ONLY HAVE 1 TOKEN BLACK CHICK!! AND YET THEY HAVE SO MANY WHITE SUPERMODELS, MOST WHO ARE GREATYLY OVERRATED AND HYPED. THIS PROVES THAT BLACKS ARE CAPABLE OF MODELING JUST LIKE OUR COUNTERPARTS, IT SHOWS THAT THE HOPE OF BLACK UNITY AND SUPPORT, MAYBE IT DOES EXIST. AND IF IT DOES EXIST, DIDDY ENCOURAGED IT BY THIS ACTION.
this is great!!! way to go diddy.
to those of u saying that u see mixed and latino models....who cares?! *** up! most if not all of us are mixed no matter the complexion. slave ships sailed to south america and other countries also! it's negros like you who i am glad aren't in positions of power. PEACE!

I here you. It's Puffs business, he's suppose to get paid. But I'm not looking for press from mainstream, we don't need their approval or spotlight.
It does prove that there is strenghth in numbers, and we can successfully work together and everybody can get fed properly without hating on each other!
Even in mainstream somebody will get paid more than others, that's just business. For all we know Puffy could be supporting all of these brothers business.
THATS SO GOOD!!! I'M SO HAPPY THAT WE ARE HELPING EACH OTHER OUT. THAT IS SO SAD HOW SOME IGNORANT DESIGNERS THINK THAT ONLY CERTAIN RACES LOOK GOOD IN THEIR CLOTHES. HE MAKES CLOTHES FOR EVERYONE AND I APPRECIATE HIS MESSAGE TO THE PUBLIC. BLACK MODELS ARE AN IMPORTANT ASSET TO THE FASHION INDUSTRY. I MIGHT START LIKING PUFF AFTER ALL......
UniTee Design Celebrates Black History Every Day – 365 Days a Year
UniTee Design, Inc (UDI), an ethnic empowerment enterprise with offices in Detroit, Atlanta and New York plans to celebrate Black history every day, 365 days a year, as a way to promote the education of Black youth to their rich heritage and the many achievements of African-Americans.
The “Make Black History Every Day – 365” initiative will be featured daily on www.uniteedesign.com, where daily motivational quotes, photos and stories will be featured honoring Black history to educate and inspire children (and adults) every day of the year.
UDI Founder R. Lee Gordon funds, develops and delivers educational programs that motivate children to want to learn and succeed by leveraging their common interests in video games, music, sports, fashion, etc. Current programs include a self-defense and safety awareness workshop for grade school students, a summer camp that teaches creative arts and merchandising to inner-city youth, and a high school fashion career development program.
Gordon generates revenue for these and other programs by selling designer T-*** that bear the red, black and green colors of African-American culture. Several of the stylish *** also incorporate positive principles that Black culture represents: a “pride” in heritage and history; the “power to overcome negative *** and / or environments; and, a “purpose” he believes every child needs to inspire love of self, and to flourish to his or her fullest potential. Gordon also encourages youth (and adults) to serve one another and their communities as “Purpose Providers, advocates who further instill pride of Black culture.
“We need to uplift our young generation through knowledge of their culture and develop opportunities to better their academic and professional successes,” says Gordon. “Our clothing helps them, and all of us, to appreciate and be proud of our culture and history.”
Gordon has designed a new tee-*** incorporating the “365” theme which he plans to promote at live events throughout the country.
In addition to developing a student outreach program with Eastern Michigan University that will forge partnerships between colleges and not-for-profit community agencies, UDI is establishing a national peer mentor initiative to match college students with high school students, and high school students with grade school students, and empower Black youth to strive for and achieve higher education goals that will result in improved academic and professional outcomes.
those models are hot and the clothes are too...remember this is "Run Way" the designs for the streets are usually a little more toned down...and all brothers who care about the way they look are not ***...some of us women are tired of dating men who dress like a 16 year old boy...I said it once and I will say it again...it's really sad to see our men dressing like kids...just as sad as it is to see vivica fox running around dressing like a 20 year old tart when she should be looking like a mature *** woman
Interesting show and fashion. I am glad he chose all black models for his show... they look great.
@ anheir - I agree, this is no breakthrough because I am sure that the only thing it is doing for blacks is encouraging them to spend money they don't have.
@ esotericdredz - I agree, it would have been nice to see some darker brother, some dreds, some afros, some braids, some of all of what black men are because the black men I know are not manicured like that! LOL... I know, it is a fashion show, not Sunday at grandma's! LOL... Hell, in those pics, even Tyson looks light skinned! LOL...
Well, it’s about time that sellout does something to remind himself that he is African American. I mean after picking three (3) white chick and only picking two (2) black girls out of all of those sistas that can blow to form Danity Kane, then using nothing but white chicks to promote is perfume line plus picking a white boy (Donny) out of all of those brothas who can sing way better than Donny for a solo act, I was beginning to wonder about him! Let’s see how long this last!!!
**//*****//*****//*****//*****//** It’s not what you say; it’s how you say it!
I have to agree esotericdredz that it looks like the brown bag test was used.. and everyone knows that Tyson Beckford is a sellout!!!! he's married to a caucasoid!!!!!!!!!!! and diddy's record isn't to good either with way he did kim and everything...and for all u a-holes on here talking bout 2 wrongs don't make a right..what rock did y'all climb from under and where? all i have to say is Black people got to eat to!!! and its bout *** time!!!! gohead Black People do ur thang!
And Hate when you hatin azz mofos come on here and hate on someone doing something positive for his race and our image. Most of the people on here are leaving nothing but positive comments which is good but there's the few aholes that choose hate on someone and make differences, instead of just leaving a positve comment like everybody else. And I think all the people are that are agreeing with Ying Yang are either white like him or her or a wanna be white uncle tom sell out.
Diddy did a great thing... he always risks that fact that the whites could have tried to claim he is discriminating, when they have done it for years... all Diddy's models were handsome and beautiful. Show um Diddy!! we dont need them!! we could do our own thing!! hopefully this will give hope to all the other black models who gave up because they weren't getting any work. Diddy started a trend, and others will soon realize "black is beautiful" and copy his move...
This is absolutely incredible..the caucasin designers do it all the time every season..no one has a problem..there was an article in Sundays paper talking about the lack of minorities models in these shows and it does'nt seem to be changing..no one takes responsibility..they say it's the fashion directors , they say it s the buyers, they say it's the magazine.. the designers girls said she was turned away..then ran into the disigners on the elevateor and requested they see her..so who knows..all I know is that that minorites spend a great amount of money supporting these desigeneres but you never see any color in the ads for example Gucci, dolce and gabanna: calvin klien just recenty used their first black model in underwear ad
