I was born in Newark in 1978, and moved from the Newark area back in July of '07, it's just really sad to see what's going on there. Although the crime rate has droppd little, there is still much that needs to be done there. The Blood & Crip situation is still out of control, and while former Mayor Sharpe James, was carrying on an affair and doing illegal dealings, the city turned from worse (while under former Mayor Gibson) to worser. I see Cor Booker is trying to make a change, but it's oing to take alot of effort on the part of the community and police to stop the riff raff from taking over! |

The Bloods and Crips seem to have moved big-time to the East Coast. They are not even East Coast gangs. I am beginning to see a lot of people wearing red lately in my area in Bed-Stuy. I hope it's for something else other than what I am thinking. They need to take that shyte back to the West Coast where it belongs. |

I was born in Brick City too, and it was off the chain back then. Now it's just plain crazy! You can't stand around in a spot to long up there...you gotta keep it moving. The cops up there are ignorant/crooked as h*ll (most of them).
It's a shame. Newark is a beautiful city with lots of potential, but I don't know it will ever get better. |

I'm am from Newark, born and raised & I am so sick of all of these homicides. These young brothers are so damn lost and it's truly sad. When will they learn that if you are a gangbanger/drug dealer you only have two choices: either you spend life in prison or you die.
I have nothing but respect for Mayor Cory Booker. He's really trying to clean up the streets of Newark, but he can't do it alone. |

The good cops can't even protect themselves against these THUGS without someone yelling racism, set up and so forth.
I get sick and tired of hearing black radio stations saying these boys need mentors or they're stealing and killing due to poverty. That's a joke. We all know by now that boys need active males in their lives WTH? They don't have any daddies and there are only so many black men to step up and be a mentor. What are we to do to protect ourselves from someone who learned his life lessons in the streets?
It's time to lay some of this absenteeism of fathers at the mother's feet. This is 2008 and there's absolutely no excuse to date a deadbeat, get pregnant by a deadbeat and then bring his children into the world without him. Women eventually find out that these men were no good before they met them, that's why they already have so many kids, no job, you name it. Zeros all the way. |
