Honestly who's surprised? Khia's the prime example of a one hit wonder and hasn't been relevant in years.. yeah she's running her mouth like it was a marathon and trying to be controversial, but no one pays any attention (except maybe MTO). The mainstream doesn't even remember Khia anymore and based on the "music video" it doesn't look like any money is put behind her project nowadays. Is she even on any label anymore? To be honest I think 1,400 copies in this case is an achievement!!!

Khia's Nasti Muzik goes platinum in a week!
Khia's Nasti Muzik Expected To Sell Over A Million Copies In First Week

They say it's not bragging if you can back it up. And while Khia says she and her man are 'all about the cash' on her hit "Be Your Lady," she may as well be talking about the sales of her eagerly anticipated new album, Nasti Muzik.

After nearly a year of hype, endless recording, the inevitable Internet pre-release leak, more missed release dates than Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy and expectations that seem impossible to meet, Khia is on track to smash the charts next week when Nasti Muzik debuts. During a time when the beleaguered music industry does cartwheels anytime an album cracks the 300,000-sold barrier in its first week, Khia could end up selling more than a million copies when the dust settles next week, according to several sources.

And, by some accounts, the early leak of the album may have actually helped sales. Estimates from industry analysts put sales at between 1,050,000 and 1,150,000, which would make Nasti Muzik the biggest debut of the year, surpassing the massive numbers put up by the more mainstream Lil' Wayne earlier this year with Tha Carter III, which moved 1,010,000 in its first week.

According to numbers compiled by Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart released late Wednesday (July 23), preliminary first-day sales figures for the album at nine leading retailers through the close of business on Tuesday were at 450,000. To put that in perspective, Wayne's Tha Carter III had Building Chart numbers of 428,000 from eight retailers during its first week.

"Retailers are calling us up wondering why it's been so long since we released a successful record like this," said Pat Monaco, executive vice president of sales for the Universal Motown Republic Group. "She's not starting at a place where some of the other people she's been compared to are starting at. She's a completely independent artist and the internet hype around her music and her persona is unbelievable. She is living proof that good music and talent is more important than all the money we pump into our artists to make them sound good and to get them on the radio. I'd say maybe we have to reconsider our strategy."

Most major labels have grown frustrated by the leaks, the piracy and the downloading, but in the case of the one-of-a-kind Khia, all that internet activity somehow worked in her favor.

"Leaks happen because there's interest, and since the advent of digital technology, there's been a lot of music that gets out there before big releases happen ... and historically, those albums have done well, going back to Eminem and 50 Cent," said Geoff Mayfield, director of charts and senior analyst at Billboard magazine. "People don't steal things they don't want." Mayfield didn't have numbers at press time, but he said after talking to Khia's distributor, he's confident Nasti Muzik will do more than a million in sales. "If you'd asked me three weeks ago if I thought this would have been such a big album, I wouldn't have been able to predict it."

In a dramatic turn of events, Khia ended her partnership with label Big Cat Records mere weeks before the release of Nasti Muzik, a move the label may find hard to swallow given the apparent success of the album. "I think we first heard this record 6 months ago, and it was so frickin' out there!" Mel Breeden, president of Big Cat Records, said. "It was unlike any record we'd ever heard, and I think, musically, she takes chances and she's got all the right ingredients that I'm not sure you could reproduce again. She's now the benchmark. We should've done more to keep her with us."

Breeden says her unique appeal has helped Khia cross over to fans who might not consider themselves to be rap aficionados.

Roy Trakin, senior editor at Hits magazine said Khia has a real shot at besting Lil' Wayne's 1,010,000 mark, but it depends on foot traffic at retail outlets this weekend. "It will definitely be the biggest record in female rap history," he said, noting that, at one point, early numbers suggested the record might even cross the 1.2 million mark in its first week, though those figures have since cooled a bit. "I'm surprised anything can do this kind of numbers in this marketplace, but it's heartening to realize that this underground phenomenon has been building towards this moment of ubiquity."

Like other crossover artists in the past, such as 50 Cent and DMX, Khia has been able to build herself up to be the "artist of the moment," Trakin said, thanks to the perfect storm of a huge radio hit with "Be Your Lady" and an album that delivers to a wide audience and has gotten nearly universal critical acclaim. "She's got all those things working for her, and she's done it very much below the radar, so at this point, it can seem like it's happening overnight, but she's been making hits since she was a kid."

Whoever even for a second believed Khia would get even close to the Weezy/Rihanna numbers must've been a goddamned idiot. Do a search on Google for any phrase from the article, for example "Like other crossover artists in the past, such as" ... and you'll see the original Weezy news from which this ridiculous fake news was created. Here's the original Lil Wayne article from MTV.com.. Khia your ASS IS BUSTED!!!

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III Expected To Sell Nearly A Million Copies In First Week
Weezy's eagerly anticipated album might even best debut of Kanye West's Graduation, one analyst says.

They say it's not bragging if you can back it up. And while Lil Wayne is talking about being a young cash money millionaire on his hit "A Millie," he may as well be talking about the sales of his eagerly anticipated new album, Tha Carter III.

After nearly a year of hype, endless recording and re-recording, the inevitable Internet pre-release leak, more missed release dates than Guns N Roses' Chinese Democracy and expectations that seem impossible to meet, Weezy is on track to smash the charts next week when Carter debuts. During a time when the beleaguered music industry does cartwheels anytime an album cracks the 300,000-sold barrier in its first week, Wayne could top out just shy of a million copies when the dust settles next week, according to several sources.

And, by some accounts, the early leak of the album may have actually helped sales. Estimates from Wayne's label, Universal/Motown, put sales at between 900,000 and 940,000, which would make Tha Carter III easily the biggest debut of the year, nearing the massive numbers put up by the more mainstream Kanye West last year with Graduation, which moved 957,000 in its first week. The biggest debut so far this year was notched by Mariah Carey's E=MC2, which bowed with 443,000 copies.

According to numbers compiled by Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart released late Wednesday (June 11), preliminary first-day sales figures for the album at nine leading retailers through the close of business on Tuesday were at 423,000. To put that in perspective, West's Graduation had Building Chart numbers of 437,000 from eight retailers during its first week, or around 3 percent more than Carter.

"Retailers are calling us up and saying they can't remember the last time they had a record like this," said Pat Monaco, executive vice president of sales for the Universal Motown Republic Group, who added that the extra foot traffic in stores due to the Father's Day weekend could also help goose sales at more mainstream outlets like Target and Wal-Mart. "He's not starting at a place where some of the other people he's been compared to are starting at. His other records have sold about 3 million copies total, which is about half of what Kanye's two records [before Graduation] sold, but his appearances on other people's records have led him down side streets that broadened his appeal through other artists who already had a bigger audience."

Some labels might have grown frustrated by the leaks, the constant mix tape appearances or the endless guest spots on other artists' songs, but in the case of the one-of-a-kind Wayne, all that potential overexposure somehow worked in his favor.

"People don't steal things they don't want." Mayfield didn't have numbers at press time, but he said after talking to Weezy's label, he's confident Carter will do more than 800,000 in sales and possibly more than 900,000. "If you'd asked me three weeks ago if I thought this would have been such a big album, I wouldn't have been able to predict it."

Rather than diluting the Weezy brand and possibly taking away from his own sales, Monaco said all those mixtape and remix appearances have actually helped Wayne, as did those early leaks of the various versions of the album. "I think we first heard this record 18 months ago, and it was so frickin' out there!" he said. "It was unlike any record we'd ever heard, and I think, musically, he takes chances and he's got all the right ingredients that I'm not sure you could reproduce again. He's now the benchmark."

Monaco says that unique appeal has helped Wayne cross over to fans who might not consider themselves to be rap aficionados.

Roy Trakin, senior editor at Hits magazine said Wayne has a real shot at besting Kanye's 956,000 mark, but it depends on foot traffic at retail outlets this weekend. "It will definitely be the largest debut of the year by far and the biggest record in Universal/Motown history," he said, noting that, at one point, early numbers suggested the record might even cross the magical 1 million mark in its first week, though those figures have since cooled a bit. "I'm surprised anything can do this kind of numbers in this marketplace, but it's heartening to realize that this underground phenomenon has been building towards this moment of ubiquity."

Like other crossover artists in the past, such as 50 Cent and DMX, Weezy has been able to build himself up to be the "guy of the moment," Trakin said, thanks to the perfect storm of a huge radio hit with "Lollipop" and an album that delivers to a wide audience and has gotten nearly universal critical acclaim. "He's got all those things working for him, and he's done it very much below the radar, so at this point, it can seem like it's happening overnight, but he's been making hits since he was a kid."

    1. I'm laughing SOO hard at this-If K-Fed and Ron Artest dropped new albums today, I'm sure they'd sell more than 1,400 copies!
    2. To Ms. Chambers, why are you dissing Trina for her "oversexed" music? Hers may be R-rated, but yours is X-rated! Heard you have 5 kids, do you know who the father is? And stop dissing other artists for their "trashiness" when your album is called "Nasti Muzik"! Pot. calling. kettle. black.
    3. Weezy is the top rap artist in the world right now. He can have any woman he wants to-what makes you think he'd want YOU? Even plagarizing his article to get his attention-that is what we call a STAN.

@ marquis8808 you make some valid points, however owning your own label isn't clocking in anymore than what the average dope dealer makes. She doesn't have any other artist on her label and I don't see any promotions except on her lame ass myspace page.
I also find it to be pretty pathetic how she is going back and forth with people online, how lame is that? She has too much time on her hands. If she put as much energy into her albums as she does defending her nasty attitude she might come out ok....and you're right I think MTO admires this bitch because I visit other blogs daily and this is the only site that ever mentions her!

Im going to take a different approach to this...

KHIA, I would like to congratulate you on what ever amount of cd's you managed to push whether it was 1,450 3,000 or 10. BUT, you maybe could have done alot better if it wasnt for your way of promoting your music. Going to different radio stations across this country and clowing on the very DJ's/ program directors DIDN'T HELP YOU! These are the VERY PEOPLE that decides if they are going to put any of you music in rotation. You came here to Detroit and had it out with Cheron. Im not sure what transpired off air but calling these DJ's/program directors out on blogs has your haters isnt going to help the fans that you do have get a chance yo hear your music. Ive only heard the one song that you have the video to and I heard it online. NOT ON THE RADIO. And eventho the song was just a continuous hook, I think it could have gotten some play had you put a little more into it. The beat was good and the lyrics were pretty good just wasnt much to the song. Just because you can generate attention doesn't mean that your promoting your music which as an artist should have been your main goal. But you seemed to have been on a war path with alot of these people. DIDNT HELP!! You shot yourself in the foot babygirl! With all the rounds you made, you could have moved alot more units than 3,000 (if thats the actual number)

Now I thought I'd be laughing at this. I can't stand her music and as I been stating, she's not that popular. Even the most lame artists have their fans. So really, not that shocked. I feel a little bad for her, though. She is forever on Myspace or being recorded on youtube or on some radio show being very negative. How old is she? It's like, grow up already and try something else! I'm 22 and a half and as childish as I may get sometimes, Khia got me beat by a landslide--and she's allegedly got more bread than me. Seriously the only "cake" she's getting is a 24 pack from Dunkin', folks. Other than that, sure, I bet she is making a little change for herself. I hope she invests it well or has some sort of degree to hold herself up on. I KNEW Nasti Muzik wasn't going to be a good one because she literally set herself up to drive people away from buying it. Bad publicity and a very nasty attitude has a way of doing that for you, sometimes. No matter how many she sold, it wasn't enough to chart or get noticed. She should have just put it online for download to save the paper and the cd material. Stick a paypal button up there and left it alone. Karma's a bytch. but its still supercute to come on here and find her little fans (and herself...LOL wow...that's saad...)crying in her defense and copying and pasting themselves like fifty eleven times. it's saturday...chill out on the porch with a bacardi or something, dayum! Hey Khia, do this--make some stripper's anthems. Sell those in the stripper's circuit and see how that works out. Cause honestly, except for "my neck, my back" all your songs sound like them little hooks the fast tailed girls would sing in the bathroom at high school. Step up your game for the adults, hun.

UMM, MTO, are YOU REALLY SURPRISED? Khia is trash.. she can't rap and her rap means nothing, the words don't reach to anyone, the beats are whack, and she as a PERSON, an individual is whack. All she wanna do is ride lil wayne dick (and WE ALL KNOW LIL WAYNE WOULD NEVER TAP THAT UNLESS HE WAS ALL FUKED UP OFF COCAINE AND SYRUP) and brag about how successful My Neck My Back was..... She's a one hit wonder (if that) and she is literally a hot mess.

And Dreayonn, that is NOT extra money in her pocket. She had to have put forth money to make the album, the cd covers, the photographs for the CD and recording time, so if you think about it she's probably only earning what she put forth to make that piece of [EXPLETIVE] CD. YA DIG.

Nasti Muzik is the third studio album from American rap artist Khia. The album was released on July 22, 2008 (see 2008 in music) in the United States on Big Cat Records/Thug Misses Entertainment. The genre of the album is Rap, with elements of Gangsta Rap, Hardcore Rap and Southern Rap. One of the feature producers on the album is DJ Craze, with Gucci Mane and Maceo being the featured guest artists on the album.

What They Do is the first single off the album. Due to it being a promotional single only, it had not charted. The second single (and first official single off the album) is "Be Your Lady"[1], which had been confirmed on Khia's MySpace page. The follow up single is scheduled to be "Like Me", which is produced by DJ Crave.

The album debuted at #66 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts and sold 1,435 copies in the first week. The lowest selling anticipated hip-hop release in history.

    I like Khia-she's gutsy.
Despite the soundscan numbers/one-hit wonder stuff or whatnot, out of these past six years that she's been on/off the scene, she at least got a house out of the deal (I've seen Cribs) and I haven't heard tell of her working at McDonald's as yet-so it's all good in my book. So she's going out a wholeeeee lot better than how she came in-I've seen the mug shots.

10 Reason why Khia aint the Queen of the South

    10. She say she got major cash but can't get her teeth fixed
    9. Still shoots her videos at her apartments after 6 years
    8. SAYS, that she drives a lexus WHEN she should be driving a mini-van(she got 5 kids yall)
    7. She an unta,med foolishness
    6. Has no promotional adverstising wat so ever
    5. A one hit wonder(had 1 hit and now we wondering where the hell she at) LOL
    4. Moved to Atlanta cause in florida she wasnt hitting on [EXPLETIVE]
    3. Broke
    2. Live in a section 8 apartment in the slums of the ghetto part of ATL
    1. Hating on a real queen over some dick when Trina has moved on to bigger and better things

Khia, stop da maddness. That's not lady like. Look at your promotion compared to Trina and that'll let you know who da real Queen is. For promotion, Trina did concerts, t.v. shows, magazine covers, radio shows, commercials, and parties. On the other hand, YOU HATED on radio shows and blogs. Everything that had your voice also featured the name, TRINA. Why? Are you obsessed?

Even though I think Khia is wack and a poor, stereotypical example of a black woman, this situation is not a simple as people think. First off, you can't compare her to someone like Kelly Rowland, who has a major record company behind her, high powered P.R firm and a track record of being a member of the highest selling female group of all time (including The Supremes). Whereas, Khia distributed by an independent label, probably makes $5+ per copy sold. She'll probably net about 7-8 grand, after it's all said and done. Two albums per year, that's about 16k. Plus she might make an extra 5 to 10 grand yearly doing live shows, even if it's just that "My Neck, My Back" cut. If she hustles hard, she can probably make a modest full time income, as wack as she is. Hey, it's better than working at the local Applebees or department store, with people trying to clown you every second for falling off. Furthermore, most of them broads from "Miss Rap Supreme", that lasted longer than her could'nt move 1500 units either.

You ask who bought the 1500 albums, probably people in her local area and internet buyers who live overseas (especially Europe). That ho that got caught with NY Governor Eliot Spitzer, sold a million downloads of her B.S single online, after the sex scandal broke. So, people will buy anything. There are so many washed up artists, who make a good living, just touring throughout Europe, that may have just 1 or 2 hit records under their belts. I heard MC Hammer gets nice money over there.

.....LOL siily waaabbbittttt yes she did sell more than 1000 copies about a lil over 1400 to be exact...so yes that was a big hurricane on her part...LLMMAAAOOOO...I really hope the 1400 saps that bought bootlegged or downloaded that tripe called musik kept their receipts handy and didnt open the shrink wrap on the CD.....cause they are gonna be mad as hell when they cant return those CD's..better yet tell em to use the CD as a glass coaster....or a frisbee for Rover....dont be a follwer all your life hon Khia is irellevant..most of it on her own making ...and Im sure all the beef shes starting in the industry is an obvious attempt to make sales on a mediocre effort on her part( much like 50 used to do).....tell the scrub Khiaskank if she didnt live on MTO trying to blow herself up full of hot air so much maybe she could putting effort into making a solid album somebody MIGHT want to buy

Khia is a loser and a nobody! why do yall even talk about her on your site. You may as well talk about any random person off the block. Theyve got more going on for them than this dirty bird. shes gross! please stop paying attention to her. let her crawl back under that brick she came out from.

    EffDat
plan9 Im surprised! cuz I thought she woulda only sold ONE album! the one SHE bought

    EffDat
KHIAFAN2008 WE KNOW YOU ARE REALLY KHIA, BECAUSE KHIA IS THE ONLY FAN THAT KHIA HAS. NOW KHIA PLEASE GO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP CUZ YOU CAN NOT RAP, YOURE NOT CUTE, AND YOURE A HATER BUSTER BIATCH. GO GET A JOB CUZ OBVIOUSLY MAKING MUSIC IS NOT YOUR FORTE! White castle is always hiring.

    EffDat
Marquis, please shut up. Khia sucks and nothing you can say is gonna make anyone like or respect her. you just sound dumb

    EffDat
SEXYshay please stop trying to sound intelligent by talking that "black women hate on black women" mess. Everything isnt about black and white..everything isnt about a mass of people. Maybe people just like to see Khia fail because she is a loser and she made herself look stupid by runnin around talkin smack about everybody. Making fun of Janets albums for flopping when Janets biggest Failures would be a big success for Khia. She was talking smack about people who are at the bottom of their game but STILL doing better than she ever will and she just looks dumb. now we all get a chance to laugh in her face.

so please step off your soap box and stop trying to sound intelligent and "afrocentric" cuz youre sounding corny

DaBaddest407 please go sit down Khia. We know thats just you changing your screen name pretending you have fans.

KHIA: 998 THOUSAND SHORT OF A MILLI!

Shelz told me that there was this ridiculous rumor that Khia's Nasti Muzik album was supposed to have sold over a million copies its first week. I’m not sure when it came out, but am sure that I enjoy Khia’s music. It sooths my mind. But, selling mad units like is indeed mad. So… when the numbers came in, Skelz said “she was close, but no cigar.” Lo and behold, Khia pushed about 1,400 in her first week. So she only has 998,600 to go. From illseed and Shelz – we are rooting for Khia! Haters be damned!

I like Khia but I knew that her mouth would get her into trouble at these radio stations. You can't expect them to play your music and then disrespect them on their mic. Granted they would try to pick fights with her but you can't sale records with pride. Sometimes you have to swallow it and keep it movin. Better promotion from the radio station would have helped her sale another thousand copies or so. I really wish her the best of luck.

My one and only comment is that KHIA you really are giving everyone on this damn site what they want. Who are you to keep coming on here and arguing or trying to show that you aren't lame as hell by trying to tell these folks that you sold so many albums. Me personally I've never bought your cd but I did take my homegirls cd and I liked the song on your first album "Don't Trust No [EXPLETIVE]". I did feel like you played yourself on that TV show. You really shouldn't have been on there being you claim you are such an experienced rapper. You are making yourself look crazy as well as messing up some of your biggest connects. Just think you did a song with Janet Jackson and you are blasting her? She gave you a shot. No matter if her cd sold 1 record she still holds a title for being one of the biggest entertainers of our era. Respect that. I don't want to say your wack because I rap too and sometimes some people don't understand or feel your movement. You have to find a better way to promote yourself. How can you let other people get that much of you? You are a prime example of what happens to a weak woman who is not on top of her game. Baby girl I've been in the streets hustling for a long time and I know a weak broad when I see one. Just get ya game up, quit putting on for these folks. Stop bashing people cause if you don't you will see that there is a long list of people that dont and wont fu** with you in this industry. I just feel like at this rate you are considered a music jump off. Fu** wit ya for a few minutes and then your tossed aside. Your best judgement at this moment is to suck up the fact that your album didn't do so good go back to the booth and give us something we can vibe too. Thats the only logical answer right now. Ooh and brush up your spelling game. It makes you sound so hood. You got to switch it up some. Being hood is not going to sell your albums.
