I am very glad to see Usain Bolt do his thing in the 100 and the 200, but let's just hope that we don't find out years later that he is another Marion Jones. Back in her prime, she was effortlessly blistering her competition in the same manner as Usain did in the 100 and 200 by larger margins only to find out later that she had help from performance enhancing substances to make her run that fast. It cannot be shown on any medium (youtube, or other internet site, espn, etc),unless NBC give them permission;;; they have this locked down. Advertiser pays a huge amoneyof money to have the commercial aired during the track event and that is why NBC decides to air these races during peak times (delayed). They know that regardless of whether you know the result, we will all sit our ash up to watch it tonight. Its basically comes go to company wants to market the products to the masses and NBC promise to deliver by delaying the race until everyone and their aunt gets home form work/school/baby daddys home to watch it. BEIJING (AP) - IOC president Jacques Rogge criticized Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt on Thursday for showing a lack of respect to other competitors after his record-breaking gold medal performances in the 100 and 200 meters.
Usain Bolt sets another world record in the 200m final. Americans Shawn Crawford and Walter Dix get silver and bronze, respectively. "That's not the way we perceive being a champion," Rogge said.
The International Olympic Committee chief hailed Bolt's stunning achievements in the two sprints, comparing him to American great Jesse Owens, but said Bolt should have cut out the look-at-me flaunting and acknowledged the other athletes.
"I have no problem with him doing a show," Rogge said in an interview with three international news agency reporters. "I think he should show more respect for his competitors and shake hands, give a tap on the shoulder to the other ones immediately after the finish and not make gestures like the one he made in the 100 meters."
Having built a huge lead in Saturday's 100 final, Bolt slowed, glanced around with arms outstretched and pounded his chest before crossing the finish line in a world record time of 9.69 seconds.
"I understand the joy," Rogge said. "He might have interpreted that in another way, but the way it was perceived was 'catch me if you can.' You don't do that. But he'll learn. He's still a young man."
Bolt, who turned 22 on Thursday, stormed to another one-sided victory Wednesday night in the 200, breaking Michael Johnson's 12-year-old record of 19.32 seconds and lowering the mark to 19.30.
Bolt made little effort to congratulate the other runners as he wrapped himself in a Jamaican flag and set off on a solo victory lap. Swaying to the reggae music on the stadium loudspeakers, he walked barefoot around the track, putting his face inches from a TV camera, raising an index finger and yelling, "I am No. 1! I am No. 1!"
"He still has to mature," Rogge said. "I would love him to show more respect for his competitors. That's not the way we perceive being a champion. But he will learn in time. He should shake hands with his competitors and not ignore them. He'll learn that sooner or later. But (he's) a great athlete, of course."
Bolt became the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win the 100 and 200 golds at a single Olympics, and the only man ever to do it by breaking world records in both. Owens completed the 100-200 sweep at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, adding golds in the long jump and relay.
"Bolt is in another dimension in sprints," Rogge said. "Bolt must be considered now the same way like Jesse Owens should have been in the 1930s. Bolt has a bigger edge than Owens on his rivals. Of course, Owens had the long jump too, so you can't compare people. If he maintains that in the future, Bolt will be someone that probably leaves a mark like Jesse Owens."
Bolt gets a chance to make a deeper mark in these Games on Friday in the 4x100 relay, which NBC will feature in Friday night's prime time coverage.
For Bolt, it's a chance at a third gold medal in these games and possibly another world record.
But as the party wound down on Bolt's 200-meter win, his emotional high downshifted into a lower gear. The dancing and preening slowed, and Bolt allowed his mind to settle on more relaxing thoughts.
"I just want to chill out. I just want to sleep," he said. "I wish I was in sandals right now, just taking a weekend."
No, Bolt didn't want to head toward a white sandy Jamaican beach. But he could start getting his mind ready for the relay race.
"Right now I'm just trying to relax and just really prepare for the 4 by 1," he said. "I have one more to go and I know the guys are really looking forward to it. I'm really trying to refocus again and get one more gold medal."

BEIJING – Usain Bolt spotted the TV cameraman, darted over and raised his index finger for millions of viewers to see.
“I am No. 1,” he said. “I am No. 1.”
His boast qualifies as an understatement.
Wednesday night, when Bolt cemented his status as the world’s No. 1 sprinter, he also emerged as track’s Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky and Michael Jordan. Anyone who disputes that the Jamaican star belongs in that transcendent class better brush up on track history and prepare to lose the argument.
In a space of four days here, Bolt became the first man to break the world record in the 100- and 200-meter sprints in the same Olympics since the Games resumed in 1896. It’s worth noting who doubted it would happen, too.
Michael Johnson, who set the world record in the 200 when he ran it in 19.32 seconds at the 1996 Olympics, spoke to reporters before the finals Wednesday and explained why he thought Bolt was not yet ready to break his record.
“To run a 19.3, he’s going to have to run the curve a lot better, he’s going to have to hold that speed for a very, very long time,” Johnson said. “That’s not the most easy thing to do, even for him.”
Chances are, Johnson was spot-on with his assessment – even though Bolt went out hours later and broke Johnson’s record when he covered 200 meters in 19.30 seconds. Bolt can improve his speed on the curve, which will only fuel his astonishing progression.

Already, Bolt has broken three world records in less than three months.
In May, he lowered the 100 record to 9.72 seconds from 9.74 seconds – less than six months after he started running the event as a professional. He then broke that record in Sunday’s final, winning in 9.69 seconds despite coasting for the final 20 meters. Up against the world’s top sprinters, Bolt looked like he was competing against schoolchildren.
“It was the most impressive athletic performance I’ve ever seen in my life,” Johnson said.
During the 200 final, there was no early celebration. This was Bolt at top speed from start to finish. This was Bolt competing less against the seven helpless other sprinters entered in the race than against Johnson’s 12-year-old record.
With no one within five meters of Bolt down the stretch, there he was, arms still pumping, legs still driving, straining to sustain his speed. He leaned as he reached the finish line, glanced at the clock on his left and thrust his arms in the air.
The record was Bolt’s, one day before his 22nd birthday. With that, he became the first man to simultaneously hold the world records in the 100 and 200 since Don Quarrie held both in 1979, and he became the first man to win the gold in the 100 and 200 at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984.
“Michael Johnson is a great athlete and he revolutionized the sport,” Bolt said after the 200 final. “I just changed it a little bit.”
Despite all of his showboating, Bolt’s assessment fails to capture what he has done – and can do – for sprinting.
At 6-foot-5, Bolt has defied conventional wisdom that he was too tall for the 100. He has learned to burst out of the starting blocks as fast as the smaller and more compact sprinters, and his long stride gives him a sizable advantage. He needs only 40 to 41 strides to cover 100 meters whereas most 100-meter sprinters need 46 to 47 strides.
Bolt’s turnover – the speed with which his feet hit the ground – is as fast as smaller sprinters, meaning he’s virtually impossible to catch.
“He’s been able to take the long stride he has and been able to coordinate that and achieve a very long stride,” Johnson said before the 200 final. “That combination is deadly, as the people in (the 100 final) found out.”
Is Usain Bolt the best sprinter ever? As the Games approach a close, let the debate begin. But one thing is beyond debate: You can feel comfortable mentioning his name in the same breath as Gretzky, Jordan and Woods.

Point two, with the dark cloud of doping in sports, Track & Field seems to always get the keenest eye of scrutiny especially when you have the big stars doing amazing things like Usain did, that's where I was coming from. I wasn't insenuating that Usain did anything wrong. I did say however, "I HOPE he didn't".... big difference, because I liked what I saw in his performance. OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
In a joint statement issued by the presidents of the World Anti-Doping Agency, International
Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the
following foods have been placed on the list of banned substances issued by WADA: yam, green
bananas, cocoa, dasheen, breadfruit, ackee and saltfish, mackeral run down, turned
cornmeal, Jerked pork and chicken, escovietched fish Malta, Supligen, Milo (said to be the
food drink of Champions), Horlicks and coconut oil. Jamaicans seem to become extremely
athletic on diets with these foods. Coming out of WADA labs, one of the major banned
substances from Jamaica is the Cassava root, a high fibre, high starch tuber root eaten in
Jamaica. It has properties which are said to enhance endurance and cause muscle fibres to twitch
faster. This comes after extensive study of the diets of the Jamaican athletes which took part in
the Beijing 2008 Olympic games. Though natural foods it is felt by WADA that these foods
because of their unique properties give Jamaican athletes an unfair advantage. High
concentrations of carbohydrates and other naturally occurring substances are said to be
mimicking the effects of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs). Some foods have been noted to
in particular cause an unusual increase in the male hormone testosterone. As such WADA has
seen it fit to add these foods to the list of banned substances. Given the sensitivity of this issue,
Jamaican athletes participating in the current Olympic games underway in Beijing have not been
banned but must submit to these new restrictions within the next two years. Two substances
which have been discovered in testing of the Jamaican foods are “yamstenine”, a yam derivative
and “cocosterone”, a derivative of the coco plant. These substances have been found to mimic
nandrolone and the blood booster EPO, hence the preliminary banning of the substances
themselves and the banning of the foods they derive from.
This ruling will also affect other Caribbean and some African countries which share similar diets
as Jamaicans.
