Forrest City, AR, 9/02/2008) It's a heinous crime that sends chills down your spine. A teenage father, in Forrest City, Arkansas, is charged with raping the daughter he helped give life.
18-year-old Reginald Davis is behind bars, charged with raping his eight-day-old daughter Monday night.
Wednesday Davis made his first appearance in court. Because of the severity of the crime the judge increased Davis' bond from 50 to $100,00.
Safety concerns forced officials to hold his first appearance in court separately, away from other inmates.
Family members did not show up for his hearing, but Davis' mother told us by phone that, "he suffers from mental health issues."
Dr. Allen Battle is a psychologist with the UT Medical group. He says, "seeking a baby is extremely rare." He says "so many of the patience have been exposed to this behavior themselves. When they were kids in their formative stages."
Police were told about the attack after the newborn girl was taken to Forrest City Medical Center. Reports indicate Davis rode with the family to the hospital where she was treated for rape and a fractured skull. The little girl's injuries were so bad she was transferred to the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Davis' neighbors are appalled.
"It's scary to know if he'd do it to a child what do you think about someone he might see in the streets or something," worried Diane Mullins.
Davis doesn't live with the 15-year-old mother of his child. He listed a home on Wilson as his address. Investigators say Davis was visiting the child's mother when the reported attack occurred. Police say when the teenage mother finished showering for bed, she came out and there was blood on the child.
We didn't get a warm reception when we went to talk to Davis' family. "Just leave."
Criminal records show Davis has a misdemeanor theft charge, stemming from an August 2008 incident. Senior Shamaya Goss remembers Davis from his days at Forrest City High.
"He would like get in trouble a lot. I don't know what type, but he was a trouble maker."
No charges have been filed against the mother, but in child abuse cases all family members are considered suspects.

Reginald Davis and the baby’s mother don’t live together, but at least he did stop in at her home Monday to visit. Maybe they talked, maybe they hugged, maybe they did a bit more, but apparently Davis was agreeable to watching the baby for a few minutes, because the mother left the infant with him while she showered and got ready for bed. And Davis celebrated this brief alone time with his eight-day-old daughter. He celebrated it by raping her and fracturing her skull.
It is one thing to state that a man raped a newborn, but what does that mean? I didn’t want to know, but I felt like I ought to know. I felt like leaving it at “he raped her” risked diminishing the actual horror of the act. I felt like it was the least I could do for this little girl. And so I turned to our own NurseRonda, who has dealt with (I am sorry to say) many cases like this one. She was kind enough to spend some time on the phone with me to answer my questions and share some observations that have changed the content of my nightmares forever.
My first question was, of course, why? Why would a man spot a newborn infant and decide to try to push his dicc into any of that infant’s orifices? As Ronda sees it, what occurs is not a decision-making process–there is no weighing of pros and cons, no consideration of possible consequences. The baby-raper does not see the being before him as an infant, or a daughter, or even a human–merely as an available array of openings that sets off the ringing of a victory bell to those parts of him that run on testosterone.
“But, Ronda,” I objected, “we’re talking about a newborn here. We’re talking about a tiny person, with tiny hands and feet and fingers and toes, and that means tiny everything else. He may as well try to shove his dicc through a keyhole.”
“Lizard,” she told me, “(rapists) will stick their diccs in anything,” and she outlined for me some of the unlikely places in which penises have ventured. “The thing about a baby that is appealing is that it is tight.”
At this point I was outside with the dogs, and I spent some time walking around the back yard cursing. I think I even pleaded with Ronda to take it back or to come up with some other explanation. I pointed out that penile entry would hurt the baby; surely, the obvious signs of distress and pain would make the man stop, pull out, pull back, walk away, right?
“The first thing they do, Lizard,” Ronda said, “is cover the baby’s mouth with their hand.”
For an infant, the act of rape can cause catastrophic injuries to internal organs; some die.
Before we ended our call, I mentioned that Davis’s daughter had a fractured skull. That seemed to make sense from a forensic perspective for Ronda. “His hand on her face, he presses down with great force when he ejaculates.” In some cases, the man collapses onto the baby at this point. Ronda has worked with an infant whose spine was broken this way.

Who supports the social workers and lifts them up when they are weak and stumbling?? Yes, our lobbies try and advocate for ourselves and our clients on state/federal level...but any of your effort locally is definitely appreciated more than you would ever know by these kids...You CAN make a difference!

This sickened me tremendously as it happened to me when I was 5!!! I'm now 47 and confronted my mother about letting her husband rape me for 8 years!!! She told me it was my fault and I knew what I was doing!!! It has ruined my life and to this day, I've yet to have closure on this issue. It is a very disturbing thing to put a child through and nobody knows the pain except for the person who went through it. My stepfather got away without anyone knowing and is probably still doing it to kids now!!! I hope this guy rots in hell. I'm too distraught to continue. I pray for the child.
