Hopefully no one associated with the Dream Ctr or his children don't get involved with it. The money will disappear or they'll end up in court fighing over it.

Instead, why don't they take that $100 Million dollars to Haiti or Ethiopia and plant some crops for these famished people and help them set up their own market and fair trade to combat the hunger crisis.

Martin Luther King will always be remembered, even without the very expensive memorial.

Personally, I've donated several times to this cause in the past three or four years. We don't have a lot of Black Memorials out there to donate to - so I found this a great place to give money. And to my surprise, I've been sent wonderful and beautiful memorabilia from the MLK organization to reflect on my donations and dedication to the Memorial. I was sent an invitation to the ground breaking ceremony. I was sent a picture of our Prominent Black Leaders at the Ground Breaking Ceremony breaking the ground which I have framed. I’ve never felt so proud of myself, for giving to a more worthy cause. I look forward to the day it is finished and I can bring my children there to visit. Also, my name should be on some plat that will be displayed on the grounds, which I’m elated about, too.

Oh and Nationwide Insurance company donated a substatial amount of money to this Memorial, too.
So in return, if anyone needs insurance and get it from them - one hand washes the other.

@thetruth555: I guess you don't do much traveling. People who travel usually love to see museums with information about historical people. MLK is just as historic as President Washington or Lincoln for his efforts to end segregation in this country.

I am so happy a statue is being erected for Dr. King in D.C. along with the other memorials. The District of Columbia is full of American history.

Why continue to throw money at countries like Haiti & Ethiopia when their governments haven't learned to take care of its people YET!? We need to know about the U.S. first and foremost. This is a project I support.

When the statue is complete, I will be one of the people who goes to see it.

Okay. How is this 100 million helping others? I'm hearing how everybody that donates gets neat memorabilia, but I'm not seeing where the money is being used.
