I've read a few of Kitty Kelly's bios and the woman GETS her info. She interviewed over 800 people for the Nancy Reagan bio and people talked, including friends. I'm quite sure people from Oprah's past and present will talk. If I were a friend of Oprah's I wouldn't say a word. Loyalty looms large to me. Kitty writes about people when they become super famous. She dug up some stuff on Frank Sinatra and one got a clearer picture about how involved with the mafia he was and his career too.
I didn't read her bio about the Bushes though. There was an alleged mistress for Daddy Bush, which he denied.
People have branded Kelly a liar for some of her books but the woman has never been sued for slander. Never.
I don't know what's true about Gayle but Gayle has probably come to believe she's Oprah's appendage. If so, Michelle has no reason to discuss private issues with Gayle and Gayle has to come to understand that.
My daughter has a friend who doesn't want her to talk to anyone else. This is juvenile behavior, not how adults act.
Kelly should write a bio on Berry Gordy. I read a bio by Rick James and he said Motown had Mafia ties. I believe there's more to Motown than just some short, black guy discovering all that talent then wheezling them out of their money. Dreamgirls probably had more truth to it than we know.

@gigi2007: When Gayle and her husband divorced, he publicly said that Gayle & Oprah spent entirely too much time together. He was really bothered by that. Not due to any personal relationship between them but I am a believer that a married woman has a different agenda than a single one.
Oprah's occupation of Gayle's time could've been a hindrance to Gayle's marriage because Gayle was a wife and mother wile Oprah had a live in boyrfriend and no children. Oprah could've relied too much on her married friend not realizing Gayle's obligations. I can't imagine attending to a single friend as busy as I am at home, regardless of her wealth.
Also, the depth of O's and Gayle's friendship is deep. Gayle is the sister O never had. When she made her million, she gave Gayle a million too so they could both be millionaires. How many friends do you know like that? Gayle has filled a huge familial void in Oprah's life.
Plus, Oprah once said that if the tables were reversed she doesn't know if she could stand in the shadows to a huge celebrity like Gayle does. I thought about her words for quite a while. In essence, if Gayle were the popular celeb Oprah isn't sure she could be so loyal.
A married male friend of mine always said he never hung out with his single male co-workers; they had different standards and lives. I agree.
Stedman does have great seminars and writes books but I believe all's not 100% okey dokey between he and Oprah after 20+ yrs together. Gayle has said they have a "mutual respect" for each other, whatever that means.
Plus, a magazine interviewed some of Stedman's old girlfriends and they said he was totally different with them. He was a staunch fitness fanatic for one thing, yet he has stayed with Oprah and her yo-yo weight for all these years. One ex-girlfriend said "he must really love Oprah because he didn't stand for that when I was with him." The man didn't change over night so those feelings are probably still with him. |
