You just don't get it, do you. In this society things are different for black women and white women. That is just the way it is. Black women can't do what white women do.
A White woman can pose for Playboy but a Black woman can't pose in a men's magazine. A White Woman can do Girls Gone Wild but a Black Woman can't do a porno or do a rap music video. A white woman can have a sex tape but a black woman can't. That is just the way it is.
And the reason why it is that way is because white woman have role models like Hillary Clinton, Maria Schriver, Katie Couric etc. So Playboy, Girls Gone Wild, a porno, a music video etc. is not going to taint their image.
On the flip side, how many positive images of black woman are on television outside of entertainment artist? One is Oprah. Not many.
So black women like myself have to create an image of class and strike down all the negative stereotypes that people have of black women.
So no you can't do what the white woman does. It is not the same. White Women haven't had to deal with the negative stereotype that black women have had to deal with ever since slavery. Black women are always looked at as hypersexual Jezebels because the black females (slaves) slept with the white man (slaveowner)and the white woman created an image of black women because of jealousy.
So black women can't do what white women do. Because for every white woman on Rock of Love or the Real World, there will always be a white man behind the scenes working to make sure the white woman's image is SPOTLESS.
Do you honestly think that the same can be said about the Black Woman? And just because white women do it, doesn't mean that you should do it. It doesn't mean that it is right either. |
