I know women and children are normally victims of society. And, normally domestic abuse is centered around a man beating a woman. But, there's another reality out there where woman also beat on men that's not being talked about. There are tons of stories about this situation, but what seems to be coming out (more and more) is that Rihanna put her hands on Chris first and also it is not her first time being physically violent with him. Secondly, people feel that Chris should not have had his new girlfriend in the car around his ex, but if Chris didn't create that situation HE WOULD NOT HAVE A WITNESS. And I personally think that it would be harder for him to plea his case. So, I'm really glad that he had someone else there to witness the incident and the other charges that were mentioned may be irrelevant to this situation. Last but not least, if someone doesn't want to press charges it's because they don't want to get someone trouble, but Rihanna has done a lot of damage. I do not support her in this situation strictly because of that that. Because of this (along with the man being physically stronger) it's up to the man to restrain himself, even if she deserves to get choked. I can't speak on black American issues as I am not American but since your issues tend to be parrellel to ours I'll say this. There have always been issues from within the black community, the only reason they seem more severe now is because access to the media and news is so easy now, these issues are magnified 10times more. My problem is the fact how a news story about ONE black man allegedly beating up his g/f has turned into a forum to bash other black males.

As there are aggressive men within all races. Is this domestic abuse more prevelant within the black communities? It depends what you're basing that statement off. No one is stating that she is an angel completely absolved of any blame, hun. However, there should come responsibility when one holds authoritative or physical power over another. That is why police officers cannot go around beating on any person they arrest just because the person deserves to be in jail. The Jenna 6 were not INNOCENT. If he was my son, and she hit him while he was driving, I would say hit her back. She endangered his life, her life, their alleged passenger, and other drivers/pedestrians. He may have felt like he had to disable her to stop her from getting any more unruly. Not to say that hitting him behing closed doors is excusable either. I feel bad for both of them. My father was proud to be an abuser and God's grace allowed him the opportunity to die of natural causes instead of my momma's hollow point. And b/c of that fact, I think that violence is a predisposed attribute (flaw) caused by nuture and nature. I, as a small frame woman, was very violent with persons of the opposite sex...at times it controlled me, like a black out moment. I unfortunately ended up with an apparent silent (but obviously deadly) mate. In the beginning he started it, by the end I finished it...always swinging first. Yes, I was appalled that a man could hit a woman the way he hit me, however, I understand that violence begats violence. I've never labeled him or myself an abuser, but I knew that he brought out the worst in me and vice versa so I knew the relationship needed to end for everyone's sake. Including our daughter. Can't judge or condemn. All that can be done is to pray. There are ALWAYS consequences to one's actions. Period. I hope both of them grow from this situation and seek the appropriate outlets to heal from this and all past hurt. Hurting people hurt people. Period.
If you are in a relationship, man or woman, and there is ever a time when you doubt yourself b/c of what he/she has SAID or DONE it's time to check in with yourself and know that you love yourself too much to be subjected to the other person's hurtful insecurities. If you believe in the power of love, still take some time, GET AWAY. Let them figure out what's wrong w/ the picture while you focus on making your own personal changes. You will either find the strength to leave or look love in the face and see the changes that have been made. It takes longer to heal from physical and psychological pain than the loss of love gone bad.

Ok this situation is getting out of control. I am a serious fan of Rhianna but I think the treatment that Chris brown is getting is ridiculous. We won't know the full truth for some time because there's an ongoing investigation and if he's indicted, Rihanna or Chris won't be able to talk about the case and it won't be coming to trial anything soon. Chris will probably go into some kind of "rehab" for anger management to get some help and rebuild his image, focus on goodwill outreach, he can do a lot of positive things with this tragedy if the fact are surely against him. If he cop a plead sentence, maybe he'll get off with house arrest, community service and mental health treatment, given he was raised in a home of domestic violence. While I think he shouldn't be let off the hook, I don't think he should lose everything he's worked for, this is a cautionary tale for many people in this very same situation, a bad relationship that's about to go homicidal!
I wish him the best because I understand the cycle of abuse and he does need help and empathy. This should be a warning for women who allow men in their lives that ultimately potentially destroy their children.

I totally agree with you! At the same time while I don't condone a man putting his hands on females, I also believe that if you can't take the heat then stay the hell out of [EXPLETIVE]'s face.
