According to one of MediaTakeOut.com's snitches, Chris is trying to enroll for classes at Virginia's Norfolk State University. He and his mother attended this weekend's open house at the prestigious Virginia university - and were anxious to sign up for classes.
Word is Chris' mother thinks that getting a college degree would be a good move for Chris.
And we agree. At least now, if his career doesn't rebound - he can have a degree to fall back on.

Alot of folks who may think his career is over, may want to think twice. His core audience is young girls esp. black girls. They are not the same group who watch Oprah or Tyra. Or even read Essence. Black radio is based on $$$ and request if the girls request or call in hear CB on the radio, they will play him. Even the teen magazines like Right On or Word Up has pictures of CB and Rihanna with no mention of the incident. It's if it never happen at all. College will be excellent for him. I can't believe how many people are on here talking mess about Norfolk State University! I am proud to say that I graduated from NSU, I will be graduating with a Masters degree from a very well know school in Virginia (not an HBCU), and am continuing on the began a Ph.D program in the fall at another well known school . To suggest that my education that I received at NSU should not be valued the same as someone else's who went to Hampton or Virginia State is offensive.To characterize a school based on the communities around it and not the people who attend it, is ignorant. To say such offensive things about the school where someone has chosen to continue their education and better prepare themselves for life is ignorant. As many have already said, we should be supportive of anyone trying to continue their education. And ALL HBCUs should gain the support of the Black community. I'm pretty sure that many of you who are writing those things probably have never set foot on Norfolk State's campus or a college campus period. Your view is probably based on the heresay of someone who knew someone who knew someone that went to Norfolk State. And for those who say it's the 'Hood School' or the 'Rat Hole', you're probably some park girl or boy who graduated from Booker T. and did nothing with your life (no offense to any who went to Booker T., but many students who go to that high school like to talk smack about NSU because it is so close in proximity but they end up going there themselves or don't go anywhere because they couldn't get in to the school they talked so much stuff about). Norfolk State does not except jsut anyone, the school is constantly doing things to improve the campus, and their are many well known and accredited programs offered at the school. So once, again, I am a PROUD Spartan, enjoyed my time a NSU , and would recommend NSU to anyone. I hope that the people on this site realize that to belittle the school where someone received their degree is offensive, whether you do it in person or you do it on a website, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want someone doing that to you. College is what you make it, as is life. If you didn't enjoy your time at NSU, it wasn't the school. It was you.

Norfolk State University is a Prestigious school. I am PROUD graduate of NSU and unless you went there and didn't like it, you have NO room to say anything. There are stupid and ignorant people at any school which is obvious considering the schools you two went to. Also there is violence at every school, did you forget about Virginia Tech? NSU does not accept everyone and it is not an easy school to get out of. And for you to read that story and that's the only ignorant comment that you can up with does not say a lot about the school you attended. I graduated from high school with a 3.8 GPA and and received a FULL scholarship from NSU and my classes were not easy and the people that attend NSU are just as diverse as they are at any other school. Please people, stop being so narrow minded and ignorant especially if you are going to post it on the internet.

I appreciate your response, but I attended NSU for a semester in 2007 and packed my sh-- and ran come spring. Are you seriously telling me that what I mentioned before isn't true? That you don't need a 2.0 GPA and a 900 (something) on the SAT to attend Norfolk State? It's clearly posted under the admission requirements on the site. I also appreciate the fact that you did so well at Norfolk State - but I myself found the people there to be rude, violent, ignorant to anything that isn't "black" enough for them, uneducated and either drunk or high all the time. I can't fathom what other college would take the general consensus of that school's attendees. I congratulate you on your success, but one or two cases doesn't negate the fact that what I said about that school was true and clear. Perhaps I'm being biased in your opinion, but the proof is right under "prospective students" on the website.

I am an NSU alumni and have had great success in my field of study.There will be knuckle heads at every university, and the fact that Chris Brown is considering any college is great. The residents of the tidewater area in VA should stop being so quick to offer up negative feedback about NSU. Most HBCU's are in the hood because when they were founded those area's were not considered the hood. Im from S.Carolina and knew nothing about the area but I loved my years at NSU and I find my way back every year for homecomming. I don't knock anyone's decision to go to any school and I am quite offended by those who find it so easy to disrespect my education. It earned me an Emmy Award lol! I was also part of an AWSOME Band! For those of you who have never attended NSU please do not form an opinion until you have attended the school & interacted with professors & students. As for the young lady who said she rather attend TCC instead of NSU but joined the military well that is your choice & I hope you do well in life! To those who attended NSU & felt the need to leave NSU like my fellow Spartan "SpartanWoman" said its not the school its you. You will have problems at any school it is up to you to handle the situations or to ask for help from those put in place to assist! I know many NSU graduates who are doing well & love the times they had at NSU! Im sure you can go to any Dec or May graduation & ask those indivials who have completed their studies & they would be able to give you a long list of positives about our beloved alma mater!!!

I was an RA in several different dorms on campus & met alot of different students! As far as I recall they were not all rude, violent, drunk, & high!!! That is horrible to throw everyone from a university into those categories because you did not like the school or some people you met while you were there for 1 I repeat 1 semester!! You may have met a few people who had some issues but once again that would be at any university!!

Yes I am negating that fact. I know most of the people in admissions and just because you may have those minor requirements, doesnt mean you get it. That I know for a fact. Just because you had a bad experience does not mean the whole university is bad. And I personally know about not being "black enough." I went to an all-white elementary, middle and high school. So when I arrived to NSU I was the poster child for the black kid who wasnt "black enough". I didnt run off and leave because I could tell I was different and some people may not have accepted me. I stayed and I am glad I did. I am a better person for it. I gained a very unique and diverse group of friends and our differences is what made us closer, including my current boyfriend who I met at Norfolk State. Im sorry you had a bad semester and left, and no, my entire experience was not a rosy one, it was not always easy or happy, but it is one I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. College, no matter where you go is what you make of it, and what you put into it. I got involved in a lot of social groups outside of class including the student government. I made it a point to get to know as many people as possible. I hope you have a better experience wherever you went to, but Norfolk State University is a Prestigious Historically Black University and I am definitely proud of that. Im sorry you cant say the same.

I think that Chris Brown is making a right move in enrolling in college. In retrospect,he made bad decisions in being involved with Rhianna and hitting her. He will suffer and go through emotionally and his career may be affected. Yet,maybe he will learn from his mistakes and anger management will help him a lot. All of this hopefully will make him mature into a positive black man so that when he meets the next woman that he becomes involved with,he will treat her with love and respect. There is nothing wrong with furthering your education. It is definately a good look and a degree is something they can never take from you! Plus I would LOVE to see those paparazzi try to invade Norfolk to get pics of him! LOL! Good luck with that. Personally I believe that his career can still be salvaged if planned out in the proper way. But I am not 2 sure. Rhianna know she wrong for starting it and she gets to come out the victor in this situation. Not cool. But beating up women, NOT COOL AT ALL! I believe that Chris didnt want to be with her anymore anyways. I believe they were forced to be together by their managers and record labels. It's what you do with your degree that determines the credibility of a university so dont say that it is not prestigous! It is a HBCU so it is not fancy but it is a great school.

I graduated from a majority white high school, with rich white people. I graduated from a majority white college with rich white people. Both schools considered to one of the best. I attended ODU for continuing education courses. And now I attend NSU for my masters. The difference b/w all the schools I have attended, NOTHING!!! They all challenge you and it's not a cake walk. NSU is a great school. The only difference b/w NSU and the other schools I attended is that the professors at NSU actually try to go out of their way to help you succeed. Stop listening to the stereotypes people and dont put someone down because they want to get an education. And since when do people walk around all the time smiling. They just be catching chris off guard.
That is wonderful that he is going to better himself by getting more education. A college degree will open doors if you travel in the right circle. NSU is a Virginia university but hardly is it PRESTIGIOUS. Hampton University is Prestigious, William and Mary is Presitigious, UVA is Prestigious but NSU is just another inner city college surrounded by crime. Inncent people have been killed there. Know your schools before you call them PRESTIGIOUS! I finished Hampton University with a bachelor's, Georgetown with a master's, and NYU with a post graduate degree. Those are PRESTIGIOUS! It doesn't matter where Chris goes. If he doesn't change his anger management handicap, he will not succeed even if he goes to WHATSAMATTER U!!!
Its funny people are so quick to state facts that have absoltely no accuracy. Of course a college degree is an awesome thing to have, but do not let that piece of paper fool you. Where you get your from (more so graduate degree) makes a difference in how your resume is viewed ultimately. Someone who has a degree from Harvard of course will be viewed more favorable than a person who has a degree from a lesser known school simply based of name recognition.
NSU may be a good school for some people, but honestly it doesn't hold as much weight as some other schools in the Hampton Roads area and that's just the facts. So don't get so sensitive about your school not being as highly ranked as another. NSU may be lesser known and lower ranked than HU, but hey we're lesser known and lower ranked than a lot of schools too! Hampton is known coast to coast we're mentioned in the same breath as Spelman, Morehouse, Howard etc...heck many members of my family received their degrees from NSU and when I started applying for college they urge me to select HU over NSU
ps...if NSU is such a great school why are they never represented at any major academic conferences...I mean I haven't seen them at any conference I've been at and I've attended quite a few and who said our nursing program or any programs are losing accredidation?!?! THATS FOOLISHNESS!

@bossladylane, we don't know if he beat her like that. It is alleged. He's innocent until proven guilty in our court of law. Frankly, I have trouble believing he beat her like that.
