An offensive "Jafaican" marketing campaign for Cadbury’s new range of chewing gum is being investigated for racist anti-African content following a flurry of community complaints.
The anti-African TV advert, which was produced by advertising agency JWT, is to be investigated by the industries regulatory body, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Ligali and the ASA have collectively received over a hundred complaints about the ad in which many complainants describe it as racist, degrading to African people and perpetuating a 'negative' stereotypical portrayal of Africans, in particularly those with Caribbean heritage.
JWT the company who produced the ad has stated that the campaign was approved in test trails and designed to reflect "dub poetry performers".
The advert, a feeble and patronising spoof of the renowned revolutionary artist Linton Kwesi Johnson, is based around a minstrel-like "comedian" using an exaggerated Jamaican accent to promote the chewing gum brand. The advert concludes with his transformation into a revolutionary "poet" whose chant "mastication for the nation" is targeted at all who will listen.
In its belligerent attempt to mock African culture, the campaign makes no attempt at an authentic portrayal and offensively draws upon several derogatory caricatures of African people to market the product. Subsequent parts of the campaign have now been launched using european actors to adopt what the media has dubbed a 'Jafaikan' accent. However it is the first part with its inclusion of subtle one liners for cheap laughs such as "10 years hard labour" and “Listen as you wash your undercrackers” that is said to also be an inappropriate abuse of the history of the Maafa such as anti-slavery and pro human rights movements.

Is there not anyone in here who knows anything about audio, and "live Performances"? I Guess not. When you see a rapper or a singer on stage and you think that they are singing live, most of the time they are not. Singers have pre-recorded "live Vocals" that they play at concerts and live performances, so if they are sick that day and they have to perform or if they just plain cant sing well live. (which is the case alot of the time) so what the crowd hears is not what the singer is singing into the mic, and it sounds like they are really singing live. This also gives them time to edit the vocals or maybe use autotune. This doesnt happen all the time, but most artists go this route nowadays. Lets face it, even some of the best singers sound like *** when they sing live, its reality, it has to do with acoustics, echo and a whole lot of other things. So for everyone that heard this and thought it was fake because precious beyonce cannot sound like this...Please.. You're wrong!!! Truth hurts. Well actually when you listen to the back track she is harmonising with themain vocal so you hear in the audience the main vocal and she sings along with it so that it appears like she is really singing but as a musician I can hear that she is harmonising with the main vocal so when she says if I were a "BOY" in that high pitch it's actually two octaves higher than the actual song so it would just sound like a harmony to the audience.
It doesn't sound like she can't sing this is just doubling up the vocals all vocalists do this when performing live. If you had everyones actual vocals that they double up during a live performance it would sound alittle crazy. What the audience hears is the main track and the singer sings along to the (dat) kinda like how Jessica Simpson got caught up with the dat, and how milli vanilli got caught when their dat tape skipped.
It sounds kinda weird but i can tell it is her singing because no program even autotune wouldn't sound like that. it clearly sounds like she is going up an octave in her natural voice in certain parts.

Wow!! somebody needs a life cuz they put a lot of work into making this fake vid. i cant stand bee, but i know she can sing her azz off! you can hear the levels changing in tone and that someone worked on it, but what confused me was the fact that the background music didn't change with the tone, and then i noticed the echo (which is in pitch) and realized something... whoever made this took the vocals and changed them, then put then on top of the song again. .. like I said, a LOT of work went into this... im not a total fan of hers, and i cant really stand her robotic-ness, but aint no way anyone can say anything about her talent

@Safari..I just had to put Dreamdoll in herthe other place over post with the tickets, she is tryin to let people believe Beyonce is performing at the 02 main arena which holds 20.000 seats, when in fact she is performing in the mini arena which holds only 2350 seats, which will indicate why she has sold out, again this not true if she is still having problems filling a small arena that hold that small amount of people this clearly shows she has flopped big time. My carnival group including myself performed at the opening ceremony in 2000 so i know the 02 has various outlets ,theres is no way in hell Beyonce could fill the 20.000 seat arena for four days.This is another crafty fraudulant ploy to mislead the public into thinking Beyonce is popular over seas which is not true she use to perform at Wembley arena a much bigger venue, so what does this say about Beyonce career, its over

@trixie I am on pins and needles waiting to see how that movie will do with it's first weekend out. I have seen she will be on several shows this coming week trying to promote that movie. She's going to be on 106 and park and I think David Letterman. She's prob gone be on a million other media outlets too. She is trying her best to get people to go and watch that mess. This person just took the clip and ran the audio through some recording software and put some kind of tuning or pitch *** effect on the lead vocal track. You can actually set the key on the vocals independent of the music. That's also how many of these singers cheat in the studio and on stage. You can even add harmonies from one single vocal track and turn it into as much as 6-part harmony. Even is this was real(which it isn't), Beyonce is crazy paid and will keep making more money until either she retires from the biz, or people just stop supporting what she does. I guess this was supposed to ruin her. This is so stupid until it's hilarious.

What many people don't want to either understand nor accept is that most artist perform off of tracks. These are pre-recorded sets of their songs. That is how Asley Simpson got busted 'not singing' live. Beyonce does not perform her sets live - there is no way in hell the girl could do all that dancing and singing and not miss a note but hey - believe what you must. Attached is the link to the actual performance which is not much better than what is being listened to here. Play them side by side and there is much difference. I actually watched that performance that day on TV and thought how awful but then I know Bey can't sing outside a track or pre-recorded tape.
