The lack of sells actually isn't a reflection of the artist or material. People just aren't buying albums right now, for obvious reasons. Both Ciara and Crissette Michelle are receiving label support. Their music and videos are in heavy rotation. That being said, I purchased both albums. When I went to get them, I found empty bins where quantities had been.
To Ciara's defense, her album is very good. She took some risks wih some of the new sounds she is bringing, which is a good thing. A great deal of her music was leaked long before the releaase date. She will be fine. |

I went to a record signing for Chrisette Michele yesterday at FYE in Los Angeles. She did a mini concert for us and she was FIERCE. Her CD is worth buying. Every song is dope. I just wished that I had my camera instead of my phone to video tape the mini concert but we didn't know that she was going to peform.

Ciara will outsell Chrisette Michele for the simple fact that she is more widely known. Chrisette is a good singer, but the young people don't care about who can sing anymore look at the singers and rappers who they put in the #1 spots on countdowns. Rihanna is a terrible singer and she can't dance but she is #1 because she is popular overseas. Rihanna doesn't sell that well in the US, but overseas they love her music. This is simply a popularity contest in music. Lets not forget Ciara was #1 with her last album over Eminem and Gwen Stefani(2 top artist at the time). |

Ok....let's be real....Ciara never could really sing. Are we really surprised? When you put her next to power singers like Monica, Beyonce, Keyshia, Jennifer Hudson...she just never really stacks up. Ciara's true calling is stripping. And she could never be anything close to being in the vicinity of Aaliyah, her choreography was classy, while Ciara's is just tacky.
