You know, I have finally written off looking at BET anymore. I really looked forward to seeing a very well organized and exciting show. Instead, I saw the most shameful display of sheer ignorance and dispicable behavior I have ever seen on a national awards show. The only thing missing was to pour some liquor out on the stage in memory of Michael Jackson. Why my people must you act like this? I know I'll probably get some ugly comments or even blasted but I have to get this off my chese. Let me comment on the highlights...
Joe Jackson (red carpet interview): I've resigned myself to say this FOOL just doesn't get it. He just lost his son, yet he sees his death as an opportunity to make more money. To hear this man speak of his SON in the third person and how he can show not one iota of remorse escapes me. Even in death, he still could not recognize his child with any love or respect but as a a money-making machine. Sorry Joe, your cash cow is gone now. Michael, may you finally rest in peace.
New Edition: While you tried, and it was good to see you again, your choreography was off. You could hardly hear them singing and I was highly disappointed in the performance. Bobby, well, push back from the table! This whole performance was one that you could tell was thrown together, probably the night before.
Jamie Foxx: A very talented individual--singer, actor, and comedian but host, you are not. I was so upset with the opening of the show. The dialogue was not funny and throughout, ramblings of sex, hawking your tour and new album was boring and really unprofessional. Discussing your "boa" and being moist is not appropriate for an AWARDS SHOW Jamie! Stick with singing and never, ever, ever host a show again!
Beyonce: What in the world were you thinking? I felt as if I was looking at Peter Pan and you were a pixie ready to fly away! The choice in song and outfit was waaay off. After the change of clothes, the dress that you chose was risque, to say the least, and even Jamie with his sexually-provacative comments had to bring that to everyone's attention.
Don Cornelius: OMG...has he had a stroke, was he drunk, on drugs, or all three? Was there not anyone else who could roast the O'Jays as they deserved rather than having him make a mockery of himself? He could not read the teleprompter, talked even slower than he ever did, and rambled so much that The O'Jays finally got up to cut him off. What an embarassment of his legacy and persona.
The O'Jays: It was refreshing to see "real" talent on the show and one of the FEW positive notes in the almost four hours that I sat through this travesty. The act was classy, the music was timeless, and their choreography was on point. One thing, Eddie, the show was live and not a club where you were sitting with your home boys. Why couldn't you keep the language clean?
Ving Rhames: One word--disgusted. When Tyrese came out and he had Taraji did the parody of Baby Boy, it was funny. However, that crap (putting it mildly) that Ving said about guns being Michael and all of that other swearing and nonsense led me to believe that he was drunk. At least this is the excuse that I'm going to use for his irriational behavior. As a veteran actor, what in the world were you thinking? I now categorize you in the same category as the other thugs that I saw on the show! Thanks to Taraji for diffusing the situation before a fight or who knows what got started.
Lil Wayne, Drake and the others: Never ever again invite these thugs onto an awards show. Every year they get worse and worse. I guess no talent brings desperate behavior. These idiots no professionalism whatsoever! I finally turned the TV on mute because of all the cursing and swearing in their performance. Unfortunately, it seems the vocabulary of these individuals does not span wider than the ten curse words that were used over and over again. I was truly done at that point in the show. What a travesty to have to sit through that mess in a live audience!
Ciara and Maxwell: Classy, well-delivered, and professional. It was good to see Ciara do a performance that really paid tribute to Michael in a positive and professional manner. Maxwell, glad to have you back. Maybe you can teach some of these others how to do a performace without gyrating across the stage or taking your clothes off. Looking forward to your new CD.
Finally, Ms. Janet, you are a courageous woman to come out on stage in front of millions and still speak to those who truly loved your brother and will miss him tremendously. Unlike dad, you were very poignant, even when you choked back the tears. You are brave and while I had tears in my eyes, I knew you were being strong for your family. Please know that outside of the BET show and the fiasco that came on last night, there will be others who will properly and respectfully pay tribute to Michael in a way that would make him proud. The world is praying for you and your family during this difficult time.

If the FAMILY was ok with Chris performing then that should have been that. After the first couple of hours, the only reason I continue to watch the show was for the so called "tribute" to M.J.
This wasn't a good award show. I thought at the time I was the only one who thought that. But from the other comments posted I see I was not. BET should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this kind of show to even be aired. I hope that another station pays a better tribute to MJ. I only performances that are worth mentioning are Keri Hilson, the tribute to the O'Jays (Tyrese, Johnny Gill, and Trey Songz), Maxwell, and Neyo. Everyone else sucked.

Keri Hilson's performance was weak, Beyonce sounded good but, wanted to see her really perform a Micheal Jackson dance/song, Keith Sweat sounded horrible and I love him, BBD couldn't hear the sound,Soulja Boy was ok, but overall I think what they should have done was keep the original plan of the show and do dedication segments in between giving out the awards.

I guess I've never understood why there is so much animosity and hatorism toward Beyonce and Jay Z by the posters/commentators on MTO. Did I miss something? In less than 4 days....I think BET did a good job. They had to change the entire program from one they had been rehearsing for months.
I like New Edition starting it off and Guy but they still tried to keep it urban and relevant to what they show "on a regular basis"! Their core audience are middle and high school kids so they had to appeal to them too.
That show has ALWAYS been urban based and pushing the envelope. They try to make it classy but I think that lady Debra Lee is hood at heart.....or a push over. BET could be doing better than what it is but I thought it was an ok show.

The ONLY artists who paid TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDARY Micheal Jackson were: Neyo, Jamie Fox (he can't sing but at least he tried), Alicia Keys, Ciara, and New Edition. I especially got love and RESPECT for NEYO and Alicia because they were SINCERE in their dedication and praises to Micheal. Well I get what she WAS TRYING to do. She wanted to do a slow number cause of MJ but her voice doesn't compare to the original. In my opinion though, if they SHOULD not WOULD have postponed the show, she could have done a great performance to a MJ song. Like I would have wanted to see her do a great number and sing (herself) Rock With You. That would have been great. And it's a dancing song so I think she would have done that well.

The BET awards this year was pretty much garbage. If it weren't for Ne-Yo, the O Jays, and Maxwell, it would have been a complete and total waste of my four hours. I think that people are forgetting that this tribute is to the King of Pop. It has nothing to do with RhiRhi or even Chris for that matter. It has to do with us losing an icon. Despite what MJ did in his life whether he abused prescription drugs, had cosmetic surgery or whatever, his legend will live on. If we can admire him for the person he was in his music, then anyone no matter their faults should be able to honor him in that way.
It's a shame we didn't have some of the finest in the game..Chris...and Usher to honor him in a tribute the way it should have been.

Well, I'm so glad I did not watch the BET awards. From the comments on several boards, it seems like the BET awards was low budget, as usual. I was too busy looking at True Blood but I did flip back and forth to see some snippets of the show. When I saw Soulja Boy on the stage, I knew it was a bunch of coonery going on.

He's also been ordered to stay 50 yards clear of Rihanna. He'll spend 180 days doing community labor (8 hours a day -- 1440 hours total) -- which is, in effect, hard labor. He'll do his service in Virginia which is where Brown lives. A Virginia law enforcement officer told us Brown will be picking up trash, pulling weeds and washing fire trucks.
He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault -- he pled guilty. He'll get supervised probation. He'll have to come back to court every three months.
He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.
This is interesting ... the judge said if Brown and Rihanna are at the same public events, the 50-yard stay away turns into 10 yards. The stay away order lasts 5 years.
The judge said she wanted to make sure that Chris Brown "was treated as any other person who comes through this court."
If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.
Rihanna is in the courthouse but never entered the courtroom.
So Brown is now a convicted felon and loses the following rights: To own a gun, to sit on a jury, subject to search and seizure without a searchwarrant and he now has limitations on travel.
When Brown left the courtroom ... Rihanna walked in the courtroom. The judge explained the deal to her. The judge is telling Rihanna about the protective order.

This year was the worst B.E.T awards yet...I mean some performances were okay but it seemed rushed. Hell I would have rather seen Chris than Beyonce or Jay Z and I am a HUGE fan of both. All the tributes to Michael were slow songs (expect for Jamie...he was the best). Janet was great of course, but it was nothing to shout about...I was thoroughly disappointed.
