McNair was 36 and played 13 seasons before retiring in April 2008. Police spokesman Don Aaron said officials tentatively identified the woman, but did not release her name. He confirmed she wasn’t McNair’s wife, Mechelle.

“I don’t have any answers for you now as to what’s happened, who’s responsible,” Aaron said.
“There are persons who were around the complex today, visitors, who have been taken to headquarters for questioning, just to see what they know, what they may have seen,” he said.

Aaron said officers went to the scene after receiving a call about injured persons inside the condo.
“When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence,” he said.
The condominium is one that McNair was known to frequent, but police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford said she didn’t know if he was the owner.
About 50 people crowded just beyond police tape outside the complex in the upscale Rutledge Hill neighborhood, some wearing Titans hats. The condominium is located within walking distance of an area filled with restaurants and nightspots, a few blocks from the Cumberland River and within view of the Titans’ stadium. |

The incident happened near 2nd Avenue South & Lea Avenue in a residence Steve McNair was renting. A gun was later found in the young woman's hand. This QB was shot multiple times and once in the head. And the young woman was shot only once in the head. This is the same young woman that was pulled over for DUI on Thursday and refused the breath test. |

This is awful. From the news that we gather here from Nashville right now. McNair was found on the couch with multiple shots including one to the head. And the 20yr old girl, was found on the floor with a single shot to the head. Hate to say it but, that seems like it was all on here. Weird that he was in Nashville and not with his fam during the holiday. They said that his wife was in Mississippi were McNair and his wife is from. |

Apparently, Steve and his male friend rented the condo. The male friend entered the condo and saw Steve on the couch and the female on the floor near Steve. He noticed blood and call a friend who notified authorities.
Steve was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and one in the head. The female had one gunshot to the head. This appears to be a murder-suicide.
There were no reports of forced entry to the condo and witnesses saw Steve arrive at 1:30A on Saturday. The female's vehicle was already there. |
