March 14, 2007.NFL great Deion Sanders may have done a lot of terrible things his life. But nothing could be as shameful as what his ex-wife is accusing him of now.
MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Deion's ex-wife Carolyn has filed a lawsuit accusing the former player of stealing $1.75M from his two children's (Deiondra and Deion Jr.) trust fund. The suit claims that the fund, which once had more than $2M in it - is now left with less than $300K.
One of Deion's family members spoke exclusively to MediaTakeOut.com about the case. According to the family member, Deion's scheme came to light when 17 year old Deiondra asked for money to buy a car. The insider explains, "She wanted to use her trust fund money to buy the car. But when we looked into the fund, there was hardly anything left - and Deion was the only person with access to the accounts."
And Deion's kin tells MediaTakeOut.com that he has no idea why the NFL great would pocket his children's cash. The insider told, "Deion might have [taken the money] just because he felt like it. He's the kind of guy that thinks he can do anything - and no one can stop him." Our source added, "Or maybe he did it because he's broke. You never know, he did just buy a brand new $10M house." yea because 300 g's isnt enough to send two kids to college with correct? Most trust funds ARE for higher educational purposes, and I find it hard to beleive these kids would need millions of dollars for such things in the first place. Secondly Deion Sanders is a multi-millionaire, soon to be hall of fame inductee, he makes money from sports casting (nfl network) and he's paid nfl pension which can be as much as 50g's a month. Money will never be a problem to homeboy, and this "fund" was probably part of an alimony payment, which is most likely why the Ex is so salty. "oh poor me Deion on left us wit 300g's now I can't buy my daughter a car," lol come on man. I'm sure he still takes care of every finacial situation that occurs with the kids and this chick he's no longer even romantically involved with.

This story is frivolous...Ex-wife just trying to up that alimony/spousal support. Neon Deion "Primetime" Sanders is super paid. This cat is still getting paid off endorsement contracts signed in the 90s, not to mention he has various businesses under his belt, etc etc...I could go on and on about the man's money. He has a house north of Dallas that has its own zip code...."I don't even know how many rooms we have here."
Deon Sanders did not steal money from his children as many of the other post said, he is SUPER PAID, I think he removed some of the money because the ex had access and he may have felt that if this is a college fund it definitely did not need 1. whatever million dollars in it. She reached into that account (that so called the educational fund) and was going to buy her daughter a car, so how do we know she hasn't been dippin and dappin and spending it on herself for personal things. Way to go Deon, it only cost $30,000 to attend a good school, possibly $60,000 to extend your education so 300K sounds about right to me.
I agree with mikkimo there are two sides to every story and we are hearing the side of an "EX" wife, who is not on the greatest of terms with Deon (that might be because of his new gorgeous wife). Besides he was the one that set up the trust and it was HIS money that made a trust fund possible!!!!! I am quite sure he will make sure his children are straight. Too bad his private financial business is being judged by folks who probably don't even have a bank account established for their own children much less a trust fund....I'm just saying.....
Exactly, please stay out of other folks big pockets like a hall of famer who get that amount of money within a few months of the year and it was probably a tax shelter and he left what he said he would leave for educational purposes. Don't forget those kids have had more money spent on their upbringing than 20 average income families could afford. He had a gift and he worked hard to make the money. HE DID. If you know about these types of accounts he could have invested $300,000 and made $2mil and took his profit. Also, the person that put in the money decides who the trustee is (the person that controls the money)so he cant steal from himself. Bottom, this is entertainment for average black folk(guilty also!)at the expense of the few of our people that have wealth or created a name for themselves.
Deion Sanders, is just trash simply put...TRASH...TRASH...TRASH....this is the guy who sat out a couple of seasons with the Dallas Cowboys due to a "hangnail" ...he also walks around with bright orange suits on promoting his car dealership called DriverSelect.. Yeah this also sounds suspicious to me. Deion don't have to take money from no one...not even his kids....she probably took dat shyt and told the kids he did it.....shysti azz exes will do that shyt. He is an NFL analyst and hell $300K is more than enough for a trust fund...most hard working people never see that kind of money.
I wonder if Deon's ex wife has invested any of HER own monies in her 17 year old daughter's college education. I guess that is Deon's responsibility as well. Taking money out of a trust fund for something as frivolous as a car seems so idiotic to me. That should be something her mother can provide for her, I know she got broke off lovely in the divorce settlement. A trust is to further your education, start you off with a home and help you invest in a business of your own so that you can one day make you own damn monies. I guess she was never taught or educated on that by Deon or her mama. That is why Elvis Presley did not give his daughter access to her trust until she was in her mid to late twenties and under strict provisions. Black folk ready to start splurging the first opportunity they get. Her mother is a real DONKEY!!!
It is sad as an African American to see that we still do not understand a facade. Everything in life comes with checks and balances. Just because we see people on television does not mean they don't have to pay for anything. Yes these people may have access to millions of dollars but with the money comes debt. just like me and you they have debt also. Living paycheck to paycheck is universal. Please stop believing everything on television. I am not saying he did take the money but when you are used to living the "good life"" it is easy to spend more than you have at that moment. Could some one please express to me how you can live on $50,000 if you have a $10 million dollar home; a car note (don't forget their may be about 4 cars) clothes; shoes, child support, lifestyle..etc. And yes $300,000 is enough to put kids through college but the point is the money was put away for the children. I never said a trust fund was ONLY for college. A trust fund is suppose to secure a future or at least provide good start to the person recieving it. A lot of rich kids don't realize that their parents did not grow up as rich kids and busted their a$$es for every dime that contributes to their fabulous life styles. My point was the parents and especially old mom dukes who is seeking damages because of her DAUGHTER'S inability to go into her trust fund and buy a car should EDUCATE their children on the value of money. Deon is a millionaire and he busted his a$$ for many years to be able to splurge on whatever he can afford, it's his money. His children have to make their own way and whether it is 300,000. or a million they have a great start if they don't blow it on mess. Daddy is rich not them.....
The fact is this: a large amount of money is missing and currently un accounted for. If that money was placed in a trust fund for his children than it should still be in that trust fund . If Deon sanders is the only person aside from the children (considering they have reached legal age) with access to the fund than he might be the person to ask. Perhaps he used some of the money .Perhaps the person who set up the trust fund dipped in it. Ya never know. Its too soon to tell and I'd rather not speculate. A man who has had that much d*amn money over the years shouldnt be broke unless he was spending too much on nonsense. Everyone talking shyt about how his kids should go on financial aid ,and its his money ,etc, etc .The money was placed in the trust fund for his children. No one should have touched it ,not him ,his new wife his ex wife no one. At very least I hope that he pays for his childrens education and gets his daughter a car! This may be one sideed but we all know that the children and the ex-wife come in 4th when the new wife comes along. That's the truth and nothing but the truth. Perhaps his ex should've been keeping tabs on that account to ensure her children can go to school. A lot of money has been taken from that account already.
Look at Guiliani. His children took a seat in the trunk when his current wife came along.
MTO... i am not sure if ths story is a 100% true, b'cuz about a year and a half ago. when Deion's daughter turned 16, or a lil bit b4 her 16th birthday, they bought her a brand new BMW, and presented to her at church, Friendship West Baptist Church here in Dallas. And Deion has one hell of a house in Dallas, so if he was broke he could sell his mortgage or something, come on now!!
This is for everyone saying that he couldn't have possibly stolen his own money....IT WASN'T HIS. If that money was put into a trust for his children then it is their money. If he or his ex took that money it should be easy enough to prove.
The only thing that makes me suspect about this story is them saying that she went into the account to get her daughter a car and the money was gone w/ Deion being the only one with access. If this is true then how does she know money is missing? I've never been to a bank that will show you account info if your name is not on it. Also if her name is not on the account how was she going to get money out to pay for the car? She's definitely lying.
Another thing, why not just ask dad for the car? Why would mama consent to using a "College trust fund" for a car? I know my mom would have given me a nice roundhouse to the chest if I asked her to use my school money for a car or clothes. I think mama wanted a new car.
We need to get it together folk. Cars are not important, education is. After that car is old, used and abused she'll still have her knowledge. Now that I think about it that mama needs a stern talking to. Not using her kids college money for frivolous sh!t being the main topic.
i'm assuming he's the one who put the money in the trust fund to begin with. ex-wives are terrible for athletes and celebs. those lonely h@es are always stirring up some bs. next she'll get some kind of book deal. so f^ckin what, the man is a cbs football analyst, and receives a pension from the nfl. if he tok it i'm sure he could put it back. plus 300K is plenty to get a BA and MA and buy a decent house all for being the kid of a professional athlete.
Isn't he the one that made the money. I mean he ran up and down the field day after day and this is what he gets. Please. Y isn't 300 thousand dollars enough money for anyone. His spoiled brats can still get a great education, buy a car, and when they start making money buy another car. Plus, what has their mother contributed (money wise)?
