I'm relieved that he is too young to remember this incident. I can't be too harsh towards her since I know so many people who don't want their biological children. Also, my aunt's adopted son never bonded with her since she was such a tyrant. He would always fantasize that his real mother would come rescue him. They rarely speak now that he is an adult, but he seems very close to his biological mother. |

The color of the child has nothing to do with as we see that same color families can have the same experience. Do we stay in a bad marriage where there is no love or emotions? I'm glad that she made a CONSCIOUS decision to surrender the child instead of keeping "baby D" and she and the child becoming more alienated.
Me and my ex-husband "bonded" with our boys in UTERO...I read to my sons daily and my ex-husband constantly stimulated them with his gestures. When my 1st son was born he heard his father's voice he turned to his DAD---the doctors were in AWEhe was only less than an hour old.
So I understand her frustration in that sense because the connection begins in UTERO...that doesn't discount that you can try and create it a warming environment that also welcoming to a baby.
Additionally, it appears to me that due to his other underlying issue it more than likely limited his ability to connect with her. Also people must realize that children can sense our frustrations and he probably was resisting her because he felt her resistance.

Something happened in the home to change her mind. Something happened in the streets and in her day to day walk, that changed her mind.
It's called Racism. Her heart may have started in the RIGHT place, but she never PREPARED herself for the psychological impact that comes with having a lone black child in the home, and in the community.
Where did she live? Did she live in rural white america? Did she live in an uppermiddle class white neighborhood that frowned on her, stared at her, and made her feel inferior.
Is her husband possibly white? where is he?He is in the military. Did he flip out? Why is she protecting his identity? Did he say, Hell naw! get rid of that negro baby'! Someone dropped the ball. Not ALL white people are pure when it comes to address race. Some have hidden racial views that spew out when they are forced to face it. People adopting children and then terminating the adoption is not something unusual. It actually happens a lot.
The kid is probably better off NOT being raised by this woman. This lady is kinda weak. I dont really know how you can tell if a baby that young is bonding.
Her decision to adopt was probably more of an emotional decision. You know how bad those can turn out. She probably realized at some point that she really didnt wanna raise another child for 20 years. Or maybe it was putting more of a financial strain on the family then they realized it would. We are going through the process to adopt a child. We have had her since she was 7 months old and now she is 16 months. The social worker has been a jerk throughout the process. She is know going back to her bio-father which we disagree but she has "put us in our place." We have accepted the fact. It is easy to throw stones. I hope some of you will decided to adopt and not just sit on the fence and talk about others. There is a shortage of adoptive black families. |

First of all, people should not adopt, if they cannot afford, don't have time, are too busy, don't really want to be bothered, don't have the basic necessities to take care of a child.
Adoption is great, but if you look at the economy today-who can afford another kid-except those who seem to pop them out like tic tacs. I keep reading people saying why don't any of us adopt. Maaaaan half of us can barely care for ourselves, many of us already have kids and don't need an extra mouth to feed, and many don't want kids but donate their time to by volunteering w/projects geared towards children. So I feel you don't necessarily have to adopt in order to contribute. I volunteer w/ Child Advocates here in my city. What this woman and her husband did were very wrong. They should have known from jump they really did not have the time, energy or means to take in another child. I still say her statement sounds like an excuse for some greater underlying issue she doesn't want to say-WHY-BECAUSE most likely it is controversial and the reason would really cause a problem for them and the way people view them. |

Why is this news! This lady clearly has to many children of her own( 6+), how she though that she could take on any baby no matter the race, with a husband thats in the military i dont know! I am a military family and i know her husband is hardly home, and thats stressful, he also most likely joined the military to pay for all their kids. You know insurance, rent, bills etc. The military pays for all that, she doesnt even seem like shes fully american, she seems like shes from europe or russia, because of her accent. I just pray that the baby gets a better chance with this new family. |
