Hey I found some information on this case. I was very curious as to what happened after this video was taken. It happened in Singapore. i am just surprised she got so little time. The kid must have had bruises, but the father explains why he did it.
UPDATE: The Malaysian Police have confirmed that the video of the maid who abused a toddler is in fact linked to a 2007 case in Malaysia.
According to a report on STOMP, Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Ku Chin Wah has confirmed that the video is linked to a case in Kuala Lumpur reported in the news in November 2007, involving a consultant programmer and his then 18-year-old domestic helper.
The news report stated that the employer became suspicious when his three-year-old daughter repeatedly complained of stomach pains.
He installed a web cam in his living room, and was shocked to discover his Indonesian maid shoving, kicking and stomping on the child.
The maid was sentenced to two years' jail for assaulting the child.
But regardless of where the case took place, the video still highlighted the possible pitfalls of hiring domestic help and the need to take precautions. |

When I do have children I'd never let just anyone watch them .. like I would never hire a nanny or babysitter or whatever to come in. I'd have to know the person .. I'd even put my career on hold for another year or two to make sure my children are safe. My mom told me I had a babysitter who used to "rough me up" a bit when I was like 2 years old. A consultant programmer suspected something amiss when his daughter repeatedly complained about stomach pains.
His Indonesian maid claimed the girl had taken too much yoghurt drinks.
But when the girl kept complaining over the next few weeks, the 26-year-old programmer decided to install a web cam in his living room.
Coming back from work one day, he was shocked – the maid, who had worked with him for more than a year, was seen shoving, kicking and stomping on the child.
The programmer then lodged a police report against the maid.
Yesterday, Reni Neken, 27, admitted to assaulting the girl, Goh Ceng Yee, between 3.25pm and 3.40pm on Aug 28.
She committed the offence at the living room of her employer’s home in a condominium in Jalan Kuching here.
During a moment of hesitation with her plea, she claimed her employer had ill-treated her.
However, Reni, who had her right arm in a sling, said she was willing to accept the punishment for her crime.
Prosecuting officer C/Insp Muhammad Mohd Jais informed the court that the maid had no previous convictions.
However, he pressed for a deterrent sentence, saying the victim had been traumatised and was constantly in fear whenever adults approached her.
Before sentencing Reni, magistrate Tasnim Abu Bakar asked her to elaborate a bit more about her background, to which she said she was single and has three siblings. |
