My family grew up with a neighborhood boy who they remember hearing the neighborhood adults say they knew he was gay, way before he hit puberty- which is when us humans usually start feeling attractions towards the opposite sex. They didn't notice or pay it much attention then, but looking back, they could see what they saw.
My main reason for not believing it's a choice, is that if my life depended on it, I could not rouse up a sexual feeling towards another woman.
