Yep Will is from the era of more positive dance and have fun rap music. I don't care...I was so proud to see my son had a CD given to him from his camp counselors that had all those old school righteous heads on it. I was still pretty young when they were out, but I remember trying to do the dance tricks of kid n play rappig alongside KRS-1 and remember singing self destruction and actually GETTING the meaning. I wonder if they really knew what they were prophesizing... |

But Will, I think you found your niche in movies. Leave the rap career alone. No one is really dogging you out yet because we all remember how hot Summertime was when it came out and how it still gets you a little hyped when you hear it on the radio now. |

That is great! They were such a hit together and I loved Will's kind of "rap." His music was always clean.
Back in the 90s, the gangsta rappers even started coming after him publicly and calling his style of rap (because it was clean) "Mickey Mouse Rap." That's okay, because you could dance to it, listen to it and even children could listen to it. Will said if he spoke improper English and degraded women, his mothe would've slapped him. Will is confident so I don't think he believes he's better than anyone.

tricknice: I think I gotta disagree with you althoug Jazzy Jeff is one of the greatest DJ's ever and he is major with the philly but the only songs I like from him and Will was Summertime and So Fresh. Will had hotter songs and bigger hits on his own Miami, Gettin Jiggy Wit It, Wild Wild West, Just the Two of Us, Men in Black. I always thaught those were way better than Parents Just Don't Understand but they were successful with it so I cant knock them just my opinion thats all! |

Yeah these kids don't understand what it is. They don't even know the four elements of Hip Hop. Jeff is one helluva DJ. He still produces music to this day. Like the joint with Little Brother and Raheem Devaugn(did I spell that right?) I remember Jeff on "He's the DJ and I'm the Rapper" and "Home Base". He's one of the most talented DJs, when it comes to the scratch. Damn I feel old. Once you start talkin about music and how the kids just don't get it, you know it's over. For all of us 26 and over; do ya'll remember tryin to explain to your parents how hip hop was the shyt and it was good music, and how they just didn't get it? Now the shoe's on the other foot. Everyone has been crying to get a black president. If anyone would listen or pay attention, you would clearly see that Mr. Smith is leaving every window of opportunity open for his chance to enter the world of politics. He has mentioned that he plans on running for president. The future president will not stoop so low as to compete with drug promoters in an effort to win cool points from you all. But, I bet that if and when he runs for president, those "corny raps" will become historical literature. As far as Jazzy, the greatest DJ on earth, he is doing very well in his endeavors. Jazzy is a national DJ. You can't find him in the yellow pages. You all didn't see him on the awards alongside 3 other indie DJ's paying tribute to the fallen Mix Master Jay. He tore those other DJ's a new one. I personally believe that without Jazzy there would have never been a Will Smith. |
