Second, this is not a surprise..It was clear that something was wrong with him when he ran off to Africa and left his show (and his associates) high and dry and millions of dollars on the table.
His explanation seemed reasonable at the time, but clearly more is going on....I swear comedians have the whole "comedy from pain" thing going on, but far too often, great comics (from Richard Pryor to Sam Kinnison to all in between) self destruct just as their success begins to climb. OK..i don't think his problem is crack. When someone is smoking crack, they can't talk for nobody's 3 hours without going back and forth to hit the pipe. He recently set a record at an LA nightclub for the longest act; he spoke for 6 hours then. I think he's bipolar. When someone is manic, they can stay up for days.
