I sit in on the recruting process at my job and to hear how they pick andidates based on hair & complexion is sickening. Someone mentioned the media ealrier and that plays a part as well. I've had attractive brother come up to me and tell me I'm pretty to be dark skinned.. what kind of ish is that?! i kow who I am and what I'm worth and I'm glad to be a chocolate sistah. As far as I'm concerend if a brotha doesn't want me because I'm dark it's his loss. WHat does this say about us a s a people and what messgae does this bring to the young girls growing up? 	Greetings to all, I am sadened by some of the comments and laughed at others. As a people we've accomplished so much, yet so little. I do agree that opposites attract. Many times you will see a light skinned man/woman with a companion oppostie of their complexion. At the same time I can not ignore that many of my brothers honestly believe that once they achieve a certain economic status light is right. I am very dark in complexion, and during my "broke years" (or so many women thought) my dates consisted of dark skinned women. White women and many light skinned women didn't give me the time of day lol. No big deal to me I've always been confident in who I am. I am now 30 years old and I am a very successful businessman. At this point in my life I'm getting all of the attention from the women that would never date me when they (thought) I was broke. Many people have posted comments all but short of saying it is a figment of the imagination of dark women/men, but it's not. I have many african american collegues that fall into the hype of the "light or white is right" category.It is very real. Some people will hate regardless but, when others speak their concern I don't think it's out of jealousy. The truth is what it is. To all of the people saying get over it (which I can't understand because I haven't read a comment yet that suggests that someone is distraught over this) ask yourselves is it a coincidence that many rich black men marry & date white or really light? If your answer is yes, or the same opposites attract then you need to rethink your answer. Lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place! Just the other day one of my colleagues came to me in tears because his beautiful darkskinned daughter wants to get a nose job and bleach her skin. We can laugh and joke about how we feel about it but as someone said earlier what about the children? In closing before someone reads this and thinks I'm bitter and lacking love… far from it. The "reason" as some of the guys say is because most of our athletes go to college to play basketball or football and so when they get to certain schools, the female students there are "other women" not sistahs...
