: MediaTakeOut.com has learned that Ne-Yo made an interesting statement in this month's issue of Essence Magazine. When asked what he thought about speculation that he may be a closeted homosexual - this is his response:
Honestly, when I first heard that there were rumors out there about me being gay I thought, Wow someone must really hate me.Alrighty then .... That clears EVERYTHING up...There’s nothing wrong with being gay, but I just couldn’t understand why someone would make up lies like that. I remember speaking to Jay-Z about it and he was like, ‘Look, man you haven’t made it until someone says you’re gay.”
Okay, so because I can respect a woman’s shoe game, and not to mention that I’ve bought a few pairs of shoes in the past for the women in my life, that makes me gay? That’s hilarious.”

Ne-Yo is my boy! He's a fantastic songwriter, performer and singer all in one...a triple threat if you will. But, whenever I see pics of him and he has that damn pucker to his lips looking like he thinking he "fierce"......it damn sure makes me wonder. It almost seems like he tries hard to NOT look gay...

You are so right, we as a community are so quick to label a man gay/bi because he doesn't fit the mold or critera of a masculine black male.SMH And also agree with the statement with this epedimic of down low men it's because of the our closed minded pea size brains can't comprehend a mens softer side. What's funny is that the men you least suspect are gay are proably on the dl and one thing a dl brother is good at is misleading and disqusing his true idenity. You would rarely have any indication or suspicion that man has a double life unless you walked on him getting his ass rammed through or vice versa.

ok let me clear things up for a few of you. As a person who used to live in a city where there are ALOT of Gay Men, especially GAY BLACK MEN, there's a few things the rest of you just don't seem to get or understand. We have a disproportionate number of Black Males being raised by WOMEN! So of course they are going to know some things about what WOMEN LIKE. I have my share of gay males friends of all shapes, sizes, & colours & trust NE-YO IS NOT GAY. I get REALLY tired of our brothas who actually CARE about how they dress, act, or present themselves being called GAY, & TRUST NE-YO is smart because ANY lady he is with, he has NO trouble spoiling her or buying her gifts because he TAKES THE TIME to get to know her & has a GENUINE interest in what she likes. Oh & I agree, keep pumping out the hits because I love NE-YO & listen to at least 3 songs that he sings or that were written by him a day & with a iPod that TRULY has 10,000 songs in it, that's NOT an easy achievement!!!

I don't know about every1 else but I like a man who knows how to shop for his woman theres nothing gay about that. I would rather sometimes take an opinion from my man on what looks sexy on me than a woman.
For example is a man gay for being a hairstylist? no, even though there are gay men who do but I would rather have a man do my hair knowing that his opinion will be honest according to what looks good and what don't because sometimes you can't trust women in that department always and thats from experience.
What does his sexual preference have to do with anything? People bought millions of Luther, Prince and Michael Jackson records knowing that they were all gay, bisexual or just plain ole' freaks. Get real black people, the bottom line is that in spite of your purported hatred of gays the reality is that 99.9% of you have at least one openly gay person in your family and several more closeted ones (male & female) that you don't know about. So get real and let the hatred go. We're not going anywhere!
I never thought he was gay, but then again I dont pay to much attention to people unless they're right in my face...and my hubby buys me shoes, if he sees a pair that he thinks are ugly, then he'll get them for me because we have opposite taste- what's cute to me aint cute to him (I guess thats how it should be)- LOL
If I were a gay celeb, I'd refrain from answering any personal questions about my private life. It is no one's business and should remain that way. A lot of gay people want these celebs to come out of their closets to justify all of them. Oh, he's like me and is defending me. NOT. Get some self-esteem.
