: Boxer Floyd Mayweather just put HBOs boxing announcers ON BLAST. MediaTakeOut.com caught wind that the newly retired fighter is talking openly about what he believes is racism in the sport and on HBO.

On not giving Black boxers enough credit:
Even a guy like Jim Lampley, he praises Kelly Pavlik -- who has won some good fights, he beat Jermain Taylor twice, we have to give him credit for that -- but they talk about Kelly Pavlik, a white fighter, like he's the second coming. Or they go crazy over Manny Pacquiao. But I'm a black fighter. Is it racial? Absolutely. They praise white fighters, they praise Hispanic fighters, whatever. But black fighters, they never praise.On why this is the first time that he’s publicly talked about this:
I've noticed it for a long time but I couldn't say anything because I had to do business with them. I'll still do business with them, but I'm done holding my tongue. I think HBO is great. But their announcers are full of shit."On commentator Jim Lampley’s hypocrisy:
I've seen Jim Lampley in the same strip club as me before. They always want to talk about me going to strip clubs, but they don't want to talk about that. He caught a court case himself, too. Larry Merchant practically gushes over the Klitscho brothers and Pavlik....Its almost like the network wants that Great White Hope to market...Not that they aren't good fighters but they go over the top with the praise.
If the network does push a black fighter, its a Lennox Lewis type that is really refined...If a brotha has any hood in him at all, they mute their enthusiasm...
White boxers always get much praise from the media. Anyone remember Gerry Cooney? That get-me-another Guiness looking muhfukka was supposed to be the Great White Hope, and got KNOCKED THE FUKK OUT QUICK back in the day.
Floyd's one of the best, but bruh needs to check those bank statements. Ain't no billionaires in boxing. At least not with the dudes who put the gloves on.

Floyd Mayweather is just very unlikeable. I live in Brooklyn and when he fought the white guy Hatton, even some people in black barbershops were rooting for Hatton. As for HBO only hyping white fighters, that's bullshit. Roy Jones Jr was HBO's favorite son for years and Jones actually set a record for the fighter with the most appearances on HBO. Mayweather is just classless and very overrated.

It amazes me how people act like racism against Blacks have mysteriously or magically disappeared...And then you have some men get mad because a Black woman rather see a Black man with another Black woman...Non-Blacks will never know what it is like to be Black...All they can do is "fake" like they do...please.
Black fighters have been glorified in boxing more than any other race of fighter. Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Sugar Ray Robinson to name a few. What is the racism that Mayweather is talking about? Mayweather did not become a millionaire just by himself. If HBO was really racist, they would have never even given him a chance to be a millionaire. HBO never had to put him on their channel. He could have been a Showtime fighter and not many guys become millionaires fighting on Showtime. Mayweather is a clown and he is just unlikeable. It has nothing to do with race. White fighters have it worst than anyone in boxing because everyone is just expecting them to get knocked out in every fight. White fighters really have to prove themself to get accepted and there have been way more millionaire black boxers than millionaire white boxers.

I'm sorry but it's just not racism. Everybody is used to black fighters and mexican fighters dominating so of course when they see a decent white fighter they get all excited. its very hard to praise a fighter as arrogant and cocky as mayweather. he is not a likeable character. he should have tried a little humility and he would have gotten more praises. Muhammad Ali was arrogant but at least he was funny and entertaining wid it and people liked his arrogance because it built up atmosphere. Floyd Mayweather Jr is cocky and confident but I don't think he's ARROGANT... He's my best fighter and has been for a while; he's just MILES better than everyone else and because he brags a lot people call him arrogant...
