A great example in the English language is the word "gay", which everyone knows has a strict definition of "happy". Another example is the word "ghetto", which used to be the name of places that were heavily inhabited by Jews. Now the infamous question: Why can't white people say it. Sometimes, even though words can become a term of endearment, if you are not inside of the circle of endearment then it still hurts coming from you. For example, when my niece was born she was very big for her age for the first year or two of her life. I can understand Elizabeth's stance on the subject, her only misstep was trying to paint a Polly Annaish view of the world where our experiences are the same. Being a minority in this country (any minority) is vastly different than being a white American. The only way we're going to make progress is if they accept this very real fact and move from there. In regards to the whole concept of "reclaiming and redefining a negative word to make it a positive" I can see the argument being posed but it is still a flawed. A white person looking from the outside in isn't going to see it as some kind of race reaffirming practice. 	Focus.. I wish people like you, I and other people who share the same sentiments on this messsage board could have been in that audience to refute Sherri and Whoopi's statements. Some black people just prefer to remain at the bottom.

	The post from "oneofakind" I agree with your comment 100%! That Elisabeth child is not thick-skinned enough to deal with the wide range of issues that are discussed on the view. The execs need to get rid of her. I know damn well that the N* word was used in her house...half Polish/half Italian...I know they used it quite a bit!
