I would have respected her more if she admitted her mistake and apologized, but she's still trying to say somebody did something to "disrespect" her. This just goes to show that the whole Knowles clan thinks people are in their business (Beyonce and Jay-Z's riduculous charade about their marriage), when nobody's stuttin' them. They better hope people are interested in them, because when the records and movie tickets stop selling, they'll wish for the fame they once had...just ask J-Lo, the poor woman is so desperate for attention she's trying to run a marathon, and got mad when no one cared because they were giving all of the attention to Michael Phelps and the Olympics. No she needs a reality check. There's information on the net now saying that she's not use to doing interviews and that her label babies her. Did the anchor have to be that harsh? No he didn't but then again he was taking up for his own and blasting her on behalf of his co-worker. The reporter really couldn't be nasty or else she would lose the interview. Although I am sure Fox probably wouldn't have minded at that point. Se didn't even have enough common sense to apologize to the reporter even after she was corrected on the matter. Solange cam e at the wrong person. And again.. Even if that was whispered in her ear.. Again I say.. She is the one who is coming off looking crazy and rude.
FOX is a liberal station. It's not CNN. Period. True, it was upsetting to see O'Reilly go after NAS and even Luda but that's because neither rapper had said or done anything disrespectful for him to make such attacks. Solange was disrespectful and quite frankly, had this coming. Homo or not, the reporter's reaction is basically what we've all been saying for years.
Solange claims she doesn't want to be linked to family but every chance she gets she name drops, is seen cheesin' it up with Bee for cameras, and allows news coverages to introduce her as Beyonce's "talented" little sister.
The chick has somehow confused Beyonce's success with her own. She thought we would see that interview and be like "get 'em Solange" when in fact we were like "you go got Solange." Quite frankly, it's hard to feel sorry for her no matter who dogs her. She put herself in that situation trying to live up to her self-proclaimed hype. Considering that she's not vocally gifted and lacks charisma on stage (not to mention not that attractive) her attempt to "check" someone was a bad move for her non-existent career.
True, her songs are decent but that's because they were written by some of the big names in the industry (Cee Lo, Pharrell, Floetry, Bilal). She claims she (co)writes them but her name is always last on the credit list which basically means she writes the "oohs" and "aahhs." If she really wants to get out of Bee's shadow, why not take up a non-entertainment career. Her talent and presence is not fame-worthy.
And racism has nothing to do with the Solange case. Mind you, Solange got nasty with a BLACK journalist and now the white news anchor is speaking on behalf of the BLACK journalist. Don't bring that Al Sharpton bullshit here because it's not even applicable.
In short, I'm not buying the album a.) because I think Solange's new sound and image are a gimmick. It's not the type of album I can showcase in my musical selection with pride. b.) I'm hoping this is the last we'll have to hear from her musically and c.) she needs to be taught a lesson. Your sister's success and gifts don't necessarily guarantee you success.
At the end of the day, Solange should just be a leg model. She has great legs

This is not about being black or not. It is about her acting a fool. I believe media does unfair representation of black people, but when we are wrong say we are wrong. TMZ is showing it and various blogs are talking about it. Fox has always been biased, but she knew this. When you go on Fox you have to be flawless, or they will eat you up. This one has nothing to do with race! She is riding off of her sister's fame and then she wants to set herself apart. She's a joke. The reporter who was actually responsible for the interview carried that off very professionally. Kudos to her - she did not get rattled & just kept it moving. The guy who was just on there talking about Solange and recapping the situation seemed immature. Solange's actions spoke for themselves, he doesn't need to be up there acting like he's in junior high.
Like her or not, she played herself in that interview. If she wants people to like who she is, try not sounding like a b!tch in an interview several people are watching. She could have said "no comment" but instead she allowed what she heard to derail the reason why she was there in the first place. Just because Fox news was some asses doesn't mean she had to be. I think you are absoultely right. The record was decent because of the people who were on there. As far as co-writing credit, Matthew makes everyone who works with his kids give them that credit (remember Beyonce with Listen, and they dropped her name for the Oscars). She has to realize that only the Knowles and her label is going to baby her. As far as the news station, she should have apologized when SHE discovered that SHE had made the mistake. She TRIED to clown them. THEY CLOWNED HER ON NATIONAL T.V.! This is a prime example of reaping and sowing. She should have been grateful they even interviewed her. She's not different, she's spoiled. They are spending a lot of money trying to make her a star.

it's true that fox news can be slanted, however solange still granted the interview and even the most difficult questions can be met in a more dignified way. an example of class was the interviewers response to solanges's caustic greeting to her even though she herself was probably uncomfortable with being accused of something that she didn't do. solange has hurt herself because radio un chicago wher i live has not beeb kind to her over this incident and have not supported the single. solange may have won the battle but she may lose the war over her ego.

Without bringing colour into it, I thought that the journalist or news presenter was trying to be charismatic and would probably have a dig at anyone given the chance, maybe to boost his own self esteem. Why is no one defending the news anchor? She handled the situation with maturity and class. She even apologized for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Solange could have handled it differently. She could have let them have it once the cameras were off but she chose to display her bad attitude on live TV. Now Daddy Knowles is trying to do damage control.
LMAO at the news anchor that said "to the left, to the left" for Solange and her career. While I do hate FOX news because of their history of prejudice against black folks, they won this one against Solange. You have to learn how to avoid showing your azz in the public like that.
People are saying that Beyonce should have schooled her sister or how to do interviews with the media, but last I checked, Beyonce is no guru when it comes to interviews, either. She sounds like a country bumpkin when she talks and if the interviewer brings up something she doesn't want to talk about (i.e Jay-Z or the DC break-up) she starts to catch an attitude. You have to learn how to hold your anger or frustration and address AFTER your interview is over, not during it. Neither one of these girls have been coached to do interviews and it shows.
I don't normally post and I know this post is after tons of posts but I need to set some things straight. It's obvious most of you don't live in Vegas so you have no idea about the news crew you're talking about. I hate Fox as much as the next black person but this particular news crew doesn't fit the bill. Trust that they give everyone equal praise or equal disgust if they deserve it. They tend to be over the top at times but never because of race and in fact, they have tended to be more "black" friendly than other stations. The reporters try a bit too hard to be funny at times but they are pretty entertaining in the mornings. Another thing is that their segment called "More" is actually after the "real" news in the morning and is more about lifestyles and entertainment. I don't know what Fox4 is but this story is about Fox5 in Las Vegas.
It's soft news. In entertainment stories, newscasters are encouraged to be opinionated and open about the subject. If every aspect of news reporting was objective and unbiased, we would have no grasp of our anchor's personalities.
If it were my co-worker that Solange attacked, I would've went on her hard too! Just as she said, family sticks up for one another. What he did was no different than what she had done.
