At first, it looked like they would be going with actress Victoria Rowell. But Victoria ended up passing on the opportunity.
Now a person familiar with details tells MediaTakeOut.com that the producers have decided to go with Atlanta entertainment lawyer Phaedra Parks. Phaedra represented Bobby Brown and a number of other celebrity clients.
Sounds like a good choice right. A powerful woman with her own career. Well, it gets a little complicated. You see a few months ago Phaedra got married to Apollo Nida. And well, as the below evidence suggest - dude had some problems.
According to public records, Apollo is currently on PAROLE after being convicted of being involved in an auto theft ring. He spent almost 6 years of the past 12 in prison on 2 unrelated crimes.
Do you think it's odd that such a successful high-powered woman would marry a man like that? Does he deserve a second chance? We're not sure how we feel about this.
But it sounds like next season will be FULL OF DRAMA!!!

OK, this is MTO so I know i wont be getting an accurate account on story, but did she married to him knowing he was a convicted thief (and im lol cause I just saw Prison Wives on ID last nite). But, if she did not know, married him, found out and decided to give him a second chance, not gonna be too hard on her. People deserves second chances in life regardless, as long as people weigh their options carefully and come to the best solution in their best interest.

The only sad part in this revelation is that there are more women (black and others!) who are professional and have boyfriends or husbands with a track record that is not heavenly than people like to admit. Who can say where love will find its place? I don't know of any woman who Surreptitiously goes about seeking a ‘bad boy’. How would that look to her profession and how she has to mingle with her co-workers? Many times, women think and hope that these guys will change – that after being introduced to some positive frame of life, where people work hard, and legally get their money, might be some kind of encouragement. Additionally, many times these days, you will find that there are men who have degrees, have had decent jobs, and for whatever reason, be it all negative, find themselves in a the gutter, dealing drugs or some other white collar crime. As a young black woman I have been pulled over several times by the police, not for traffic violations but for driving a sporty car that their salary couldn't buy. When I got tired of it, I started telling them to leave me alone and keep driving or I would simply pull off. Things probably would not have gone so smoothly if I were a black man. If I were a male they probably would've put drugs on me, made up bogus charges or *** my *** then plant a gun on me.

He came from a poor family, both of his parents were on crack. Now, he is an honest man, faithful man, he never breaks the law, he pays his bills on time, he never hits me or curses at me. He is a great man.

I have a friend who's a lawyer and she date men that are not what you'd imagine a woman like her would date. One was a drug kingpin and the last one had 7 kids. Since she's my friend it never bothered me because I trusted that she knew what she was getting into. Now she never married these dudes, I guess it's that element of danger.

I keep reading people say that she is giving him another chance. Homeboy just got out of prison after doing a 6 year bid, so how has she had time to analyze whether or not this man has changed?? Prison can do some pretty horrible things to the mind of a young black man. I highly doubt that he is employed with a felony in the Atl with a felony record unless he is self employed. Chances of a sucessful black woman being with a black man who is equally or higher level financially is slim. Black men make up 90 percent of the population in jail. Most of our black men don't graduate from college or don't attend. Some black men who are sucessful are sports figures and entertainers, some of them get with a white women. Therefore, black women chances of being married to a black man is slim.

There are not enough successful black men to go around. Most black men who make over 100K are marrying white women, because they are brainwashed by the media and we as a society are not shunning them. Successful educated black women’s first choice is a successful educated black man not a thug. You can’t fault her for trying to give the brother a chance, when a good percentage of our brothers are being set up and sent to prison. At least she is sticking by the brothers in good times and bad times, as black women have done from the beginning of time. If this situation were reversed I doubt the brother would stand by her. Black women have black men’s back in good times and bad, and we deserve the same loyalty. When sh@t hits the fan none of those other women are there for black men.
