April 28, 2007. You guys must have really touched a nerve with all the negative comments about Monica's son. Cause her people reached out to us and sent us an email.

But before we go any further, we just want to make this clear - WE AIN'T SAID NOTHING BAD ABOUT LIL ROCK. All we did was call him a cutie pie. So Monica, next time you see us out - please don't go grabbing for "that thing" you carry in your Louie bag.

Here's an excerpt of what Monica said:

I was made aware of the few people that did not like [my son's] choice of attire. But who are we to judge? Truth be told: it should be respected that he's on a major website wearing clothes that were created and made by Black men.

How do we constantly find negative when only positive exists? Is it a problem with the world or people in general? My son is being raised by strong black men, so therefore, when I dress him, I dress him as one. Not as a thug, not as a hoodlum.

How he dresses reflects nothing that I teach him. Morals and values are instilled in our home and in our lives. And for those that choose to speak negative, I simply must say take a look at self and dissect the problems within before you try to look at my life and dissect mine. My son is loved, blessed, favored by God and supported by many.

Thank you very much Sean "Puffy" Combs and the Rocafella family. We love you and will support you at all costs."

It's been a long while since I've seen Diddy or Hov dressed in bandannas and jerseys. People grow and change, and they both realized that you have to dress for success. As a mother of 2 girls ages 13 & 18, I realize that some of the negative things I allowed my kids to be exposed to have come back full circle and caused pain and strife in our lives. Only after I allowed God to take full control of my life, was able to see where I went wrong and began to make corrections. First and foremost teaching my girls that this world is temporary and its not about what you have but what your "are". Nobody owes them anything. If they are not confirming with God about the choices they make then be prepared to deal with the consequences. When you are "raising" children, you have to be extremely careful what negative images and things you allow into their lives. But a lot of people are just making babies, no raising involved. It's not about how cute they look, it's about morals, standards, respect for self and other people. Values they can take with for the rest of their lives. That is the only way they will be productive, functioning adults in this messed up world of ours. A black person is born with 10 strikes, so why add more strikes by submitting, and living the negative images that are put on or TV's and allowed in our music. We really need to pay attention and learn our history to see how we have been (for lack of a better word)"BAMBOOZLED". 	i didn't comment on the original post, because it wasn't that serious. i'm not commenting directly at what Monica said, but at what some of the people on here posted. First, alot of you need to slow it down and proofread your comments before sending them. Next, I have two beautiful boys, who do wear Sean John, Rocawear, Polo, Ralph Laruen and so on. But the clothes don't make my children, its how I present them is what makes up their character. 	People are talking about the woman child, but getting defensive when you someone disagree with their opinion or talk about them and their statements. I read some of the statements not all mostly the ones beefing with each other and laugh , because you all are doing the same thing Monica is doing. She is just trying to defend herself and her child, just as you defending yourself. Everyone feelings get hurt at one point or another, and somethings need to be addressed. This may be one that she feels that needed to be addressed. I don't believe that anyone of us can look into the future to determine the outcome of her son. He might grow up to be that strong black man she want him to be. Then he can be the person you are speaking upon him. Once again we don't know what God has in store for him. She could have dressed him in a suit, that does not mean that he will grow up to be a strong black man, nor a thug and vice versa. You don't know what direction a child will go once he/she reaches a certain age.
