: According to one of our readers Vanessa Simmons entered the Miss New York beauty pageant. Unfortunately, she didn't do too well. Here's what our faithful reader had to say:
My sisters best friend recently competed in the Miss New York competition, running to compete in the Miss U.S.A. competition. Surprisingly Vanessa Simmons was there - and yes she was competing...random, huh?In MediaTakeOut.com's crystal ball - we see a King Magazine spread in Vanessa Simmons' future. After that we see her disappearing into obscurity...She placed in the top 25 but not the top 15 lol. I also heard Angela was there and had a terrible attitude!!!!!

Well to be honest she's not really that attractive of a girl,she's the type of chick who people in her little highschool thought she was "easy on the eyes",so she let it go to her head,until she goes somewhere thats big time around some truly stunning females and finds out that she's really not all that...ya digg???

I think that she is a pretty girl. She has her modeling, acting and shoe thing going on. This was just another venture she wanted to try. And its funny how everyone is saying that she is not attractive..."To each its own"...isnt that the saying? Do you know how many "unattractive" women win pagents all the time?

I'm just over the whole Simmons family right now. I respect the image they portray as a positive loving black family. But it irks me how easy their kids have it.
I mean some people go to school and have to work really hard to work at magazines, and then you have someone Wordup just giving Angela one because she's a Simmons.
There are some seriously fine women out here tryna break into the modeling/acting buisness, and you have someone like Vanessa who aint even model material gettin photo shots and spreads in magazines.

Vanessa is an attractive girl in her own ways ... I actually commend her... fore it's not about winning the title! it's about the title of a WINNER and that is in reaching and surpassing your dreams. Vanessa aint all that she's just average with alot of makeup and nice clothes. By average she's like the girl next door someone you would see around the neighborhood and you'd be like she cute and keep it moving. I wonder what talent she did during the pagent? Just stand there and try to look pretty? If so that's probably why she lost.

I guess because both of her parents are black and she is not a half-breed, she is not considered beautiful in today’s Bull Sh#t standards. I swear...this new generation of black people are doomed!!!! Black folks now-a-day go for anything. Keep letting the media tell you you aren’t beautiful if you want. I ain’t gonna allow them to feed me that BS. In most cases, people who feel the need to QUOTE their credentials, either a) don't really have them b) aren't used to shyt, or c) want to feel better about themselve - so they keep reminding people that they have more BILLS than them.
PS: Don't you let the fact that I'll get in your azz confuse you because either way, what happens in YOUR house, won't affect MY days.
The point I successfully made, college DEGREES notwithstanding, and no matter the METHOD used to convey that point (and I'll insert an "Ignorant bytch" here just for good measure) is that, if you feel good enough about yourself to call someone out for being unattractive, then be prepared to hear what the masses feel about YOU when you've attached YOUR picture!
If you don't like that philosophy - then that's your battle. I couldn't care less one way or the other... so, I suggest (as politely as I can) that you take that "letter head", put some words on it, and get it in the mail... because, apparently with enough time on your hands to spar with and, or question ME... you have plenty of blank paper - and not enough clients.

She's a cute woman but I don't think she's so pretty that she would win a pageant...but neither does hardly any of the pancake white girls that win all the others. I guess she thought cause she was Run's daughter she was a sure win. Ok you can't win em' all. Losing doesn't mean give up, it just means you try harder, and grow stronger from it. Jennifer Hudson lost American Idol but that only made her stronger because she ended up in one the most popular movies called DREAM GIRLS and basically played the hell out of her role, and look at Tacara....she lost on ANTM and she still ended up modeling for full figured women, then landed a job with B.E.T and appears at every award show with B.E.T. So sometimes you have to keep falling before you're able to balance yourself up and move forward.

In all honesty, she is generally considered average looking, and for me she's average. She also looks weird, like something is off about her face. The same with most people think Halle is gorge, not me though.I feel like she has a ego like she's so bad, and really she isn't. Beauty is subjective, blah blah blah, but she's a model because of her dad's name. The same with how Angela got a mag. No hate on that but it is what it is.

I like Vanessa. I think she is pretty and she is really postive also. She seems like a good person, someone you could befriend and talk to about your problems, and she would offer sound, heartfelt advice. I think she is very pretty and her personality shines through.
