For all those that fail to see the injustice in Vick's case i simply say....stop drinking the Kool-Aid. I am not surprised that so many of us take the position of he did it to himself. We are always so quick to dismiss logic. It makes no sense that a first time offender would recieve such a harsh penalty (2 years is f'ing harsh!). This is about putting things in perspective and thinking logically as opposed to emotionally. The man made a mistake that has labled him a monster. Dahmer and his brethren have gotten more compassion from people of all hues. Are we supposed to kill dogs?? NO. Should one lose everything for doing so???? NOOOOOOOOO. It is beyond ridiculous that adults don't see this. I am not surprised but instead extremely afraid for the future of our people. We should not dwell on this issue but we should get incensed by the (modern day) lynching that has taken place. To say we are not affected by this in many ways is ridiculous. For those who don't know, the crimes for dogfighting are really stiff. I've read cases where somone got 45 years, and a whopping 101 years for killing these animals. Each case if different but if you wanna talk about injustice its not regarding because this idiot was black. I'm confident if this guy was a regular guy with a regular job, he would serve actually more time. That is the only injustice in this case, the fact that his celebrity status helped him out. I don't feel sorry for him because no one made him break the law. For those who compare his actions to hunting deer and eating beef, well guess what hunting deer is not illegal. I don't condone it, but it is not a crime. Cows, pigs and chickens are slaughtered by the millions for our consumption. I don't condone it, but its not illegal. Dogfighting is a law and he broke it. I can see that those who think Mike Vick should be in prison probably get most of their news from entertainment blogs. I suggest reading both of William Rhoden's books and thoroughly reading the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights "Felony Disenfranchisement Policy" with regards to the way cases are prosecuted before jumping to conclusions. Maybe look at what the RICO act was intended for and how its used now while you're at it.

I don't know who the judge was in his case, but his punishment could have been handled so much better. I agree with sweetly_1, we need a new justice system.
What was done to those poor helpless dogs was horrible, but why is this man being put in jail for all that time? Why is his time and money not being put to better use? He should be made to perform a service, specifically involving animals and if possible, more specifically, dogs. Plenty of his money should have gone to animal shelters and educating people regarding cruelty to animals. And he should have been made to make public service annoucements (and to pay for them) about cruelty to animals. Yeah, this was some backwards and uncreative justice for sure. This judge was foolish not to take advantage of the fact that this man could have done way more good outside of jail.
