: NEW YORK - (AP) Alicia Keys postponed two concerts on her European tour after being put on vocal rest by her doctor, her publicist said Saturday.
Keys, whose latest album, "As I Am," has sold millions of copies worldwide, was supposed to perform Monday in Glasgow, Scotland, and Tuesday in Manchester, England. But the Grammy-winning singer was told to spend the next few days off the stage because of laryngitis, publicist Patti Webster said in a statement.
The Glasgow and Manchester dates were to be rescheduled.
I see yall read the comment i posted on yesterdays post about Alicia. oh my ya'll finally find a true story but she will definitely go back. She was schedule to go back international after the US leg of the tour which runs April 18-June 18. But she doesnt do half assed show and gives her all. I mean she could pull it off i mean she been doing it since November in ATL she was sick and kicked ass and im sure her vocals have never had a full recovery cuase she been doin show since then. As I stated in an earlier post, Alicia's voice is deteriorating with every album. As long as she continues to scream songs that are in higher keys, her voice will not last very long. You can hear the airiness coming into her voice. She needs a vocal coach who can a show her the proper techniques to salvage her voice through muscle control. I suggest she contacts a certified Estill vocal methods instructor. I have never been head over heels about her singing voice, but she is talented.
Knew it was a matter of time. Seems like she was doing too much screaming at the top of her lungs instead of singing. She ain't gotta go there. Seems like the image consultant is making her try to hard to be something she aint and don't need to be. One Beyonce is enough. Alicia was cool without all the hollywood hype, a little polish would have been enough. She looks good and aint nothin wrong with stretching your range, but somebody should have stopped the screaming a long time ago. I can't hardly listening to her no mo.
laryngitis or not she still smashed them in the face "as i am" sold 742,400 copies in a week 1 week people that's all no one in this generation can beat that so there is still hope for the youngins to see the damn light so hate(because in this case this is hate) all day long if that can help you make your idol feel better but hum she is here to stay :)
She's a true beauty! I don't agree that "no one" is too high a key for Leesh. If you listen to Teenage Love Affair off her album, you'll hear how easily she switches from one range to the higher one.
Anyhow, take notes Beyonce -- this is how you maintain balance and longevity and not lose yourself in the "fame game." You set boundaries, listen to your body and know when to say "No. My body needs a rest." It's called showing respect for the gift God gave you...
Besides, I can listen to her play the piano all day. Her skills are far beyond what she plays on her albums because she's a trained classical pianist, award-winning, no less. So take that!!!
Couldn't have said it better, crimsonsongstress. I heard the thing happened to other singers like Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera. She sings "No One" too strong, same with "If I Ain't Got You" last album (trying to sound like Gladys Knight).
I surprised no one's tried to tell her this (or that she isn't listening).
