I expect we'll see the Republicans doing the same thing against Obama in the general election, using some of Michelle's comments in ads against him; she's certainly giving them enough ammunition. As for his blackness, I think most black folks consider him one of us, at least now (6 months ago, blacks were saying he WASN'T black enough). But, white folks don't see him that way at all because of his parentage, and the fact that he doesn't care about black issues.
It would be impractical to think that ONE man can solve ALL the problems of this country. And, I don't ever recall reading or hearing Senator Obama promise that he can do that. And, I've yet to come across one individual who believes that or have expressed that.
In my lifetime, other than Harold Washington, has there been a person who inspired and invigorated people across ethnic and gender lines to participate in the voting process until Senator Obama came on the scene. He's got Native Americans going to the polls to the rednecks in Appalachian mountains singing his praises. The FACT is that in THIS election, people who haven't normally participated in elections are ACTIVE! People are tired of the status quo. They are tired of fighting. They are tired of the fearmongering. They are tired of being bamboozled. And, they see Barack, not only as a symbol, but one who can execute positive change in this country. It speaks volumes that this campaign has narrowed to a white woman and a black man.
Barack is from Chicago. I met him in a local barbershop in Hyde Park where I took my son for a haircut. My fiance has played basketball with him many times and know him personally and professionally. There is nothing sinister or mysterious about him nor his wife. His wife graduated from my high school - Whitney Young Magnet (one of the top academic schools in this country).
I remember when Barack challenged Bobby Rush (a former Black Panther) for his congressional seat - and lost. He didn't give up. He ran for State Senator - and WON. Then ran for U.S Senate - and WON. He came out of nowhere and blazed the trail. He was in the trenches helping the poor and making changes in Illinois. He is successful because he knows how to mobilize people on a grassroots level. He is in touch with the people. That is the sign of a true leader. Can you say the same about his opponents?
Why do black people concern themselves with what white people are doing and thinking or what the Republicans are doing and thinking? Who gives a dayum?
Focus your time and energy on progressive things. You attract what you think about.
People who complain about bills are always broke, but a person who takes ACTION to solve his/her monetary problems experience abundance.
If you focus your positive energy towards Barack, he will WIN. There is no doubt in my mind that this man will be the next President of the United States.

i am happy for obama and myself, but i am cautious with the outcome. i wander if the majority of this population is helping out obama at this time because they hate, or can't stand hillary clinton. we know white men dont like her, for real.
i wander when the real election comes up and obama goes against the republican nominee. the majority will actually use all the negative stuff hillary used to try to defeat him. i feel the majority of that race will really vote.

Well, here's the thing, Sticks40... There is no dirt on Obama. He's transparent. They have to create dirt by manipulating quotes from him or his wife. Create 9-11 hysteria around Obama's name and trip to Kenya. It's petty schitt.
They have to create a story because there is none. Racial innuendos are doled out to pit ethnic groups against the other. They have to do whatever to stop this MOMENTUM through subliminal suggestions and in some cases - overt action. They've taken a page from J. Edgar Hoover's CoIntelPro - discredit him to his "own" community and then to the broader (main stream) community.
There are so many skeletons in the closet of the Clintons. Most of their former friends and business associates are dead. Mena Airport in Arkansas was a drug dealers haven. The media has been so kind to not bring them up - some well-known and some not-so-known.
Neither Clinton nor McCain have the vibrational energy or spiritual framework to unite this country. When we rise, so does everyone else.

It seems like the times after 1865 to 1870 when the Radical Republicans made great strides with passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendment. Black men had the right to vote and held positions in Congress and higher places.
Then something happened, the confederate led Supreme Court created Separate but Equal with three cases - You know about Plessy v. Ferguson, effectively trumping the impact of these constitutional amendments.
I just have a bad feeling about what is about to happen to Obama, his supporters and our country as a whole. Something is just not right.
Yes, I do. The difference is I don't "think" or "feel" that Obama's life is in danger. I don't give those thoughts any energy. You obviously don't understand laws of the universe. People often bring up conspiracy theories against Obama and others that, no doubt, were planted to keep us focused on issues that don't really matter. WE do have the power to change any situation for the better. The majority of us don't yet know how to utilize it. Black people don't have to stay poor, stay ignorant, bow to White men or anyone else.
